Description

Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the stock factory air box and restrictive paper filter element in your 2005- 2009 V6 Mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response while filtering out destructive power robbing dust particles. This CAI pulls cooler denser air from inside the inner fender well to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a High Flow reusable air filter. So no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Polished Finish. An SR Performance Cold Air Intake not only improves horsepower and acceleration, but it also improves your Mustang's under hood appearance with a striking polished aluminum finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. SR Performance Cold Air Intake kits are relatively easy to install with basic hand tools. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for an overview of the installation process.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the stock factory unit.

Works great !

Took about an hour. I had to find a couple nuts and bolts but it wasn't hard. No instructions but I used the Stack Racing online PDF to do it as this is a clone of one of their products.

Could I fit a K&N cone filter on it? I don't see a brand or anything to tell me much about this cold air intake. The price is insanely cheap compared to other cold air intakes so I am slightly skeptical. Could I place a K&N cone on it because I really like the K&N brand.

  • This is the American Muscle brand CAI. The filter is just as good as the K&N Cold Air Kits. If you want the K&N filter, just get the K&N kit, the price of the filter, you would have to purchase separately, would make the cost savings of this kit not worth it. In any event, I would recommend getting an SCT tuner from BAMA Performance to make the most out of this or any future mod. I hope this answers your question and thanks for choosing American Muscle!

air intake for 2007 V6 I have a 2007 V6 mustang. I replaced the factor air filter with a K&N rectangular filter. I was looking on the website and saw the American Muscle cold air intake for $75. The coments statede a 10-15hp gain. I am a bit sceptical of that without tuning as it seems that most cold air intake systems i've seen use smaller diamiter intake pipes tan the factory. Is it the smooth aluminum pipe that helps increase flow? Also, the factory intake pulls air from the fenderwell and the path is completely isolated by the factory air box. What advantage does the heat shield provide over the box? Any information is appreaciated. Thank you.

  • 10-15hp gain is typical for open cold air intakes without specialized tunes. Recommended name brand tuners and performance chips generally add 30hp or more pending on Mods. You should gain a little over factory air box with square K&N filter and because some aftermarket systems may be smaller does not mean they don'y improve performance. It's about air flow pattern not only diameter. Naturally the heat shield will protect the air filter and offer higher volume of air, but mostly while driving. Heat shields biggest weakness is during standstills, which really isn't much in comparison for a short period of time per stop.

Does this product require a reprogram chip from Ford?

Koby1195 Year: 2009 Model: V6

  • No it doesn't and you will receive better gas mileage more horsepower and torque but you won't get the full potential of benefits unless you get your vehicle tuned. That takes a dyno and a good tuner doesn't require a new chip.

I liked the item, looks great under the hood. It was quite easy to install, no real issues except that the assembly was missing a single screw, but thats not a big deal. The improvement was felt almost immediately, can't wait to see how it performs with the tuner.

    awesome!

quick and easy to install even though it does not have instructions, stock bolts/clamps work if the need be. 0-60/100 is way faster with this on and the reusable filter is a cool idea

    BEST BANG FOR $$$

    March 31, 2011

This intake looks great and performs very well. The install was fairly easy as long as you have basic mechanics/tools. Everything bolted up fine and didn't run into any issues. If you were to ask me, id buy it again in a heart beat for a great value! Thanks from a happy AM customer.

    Great CAI for the price!!

    November 18, 2012

This cold air intake is one of the cheapest I've seen and for the money, the performance gains are definitely worth it! I could instantly feel the difference in throttle response and a throatier exhaust. The installation took me about an hour, I probably could have done it faster if I knew what I was doing but overall installing it was pretty easy. The only thing is, the air filter is a bit small so I bought a larger filter at the auto shop and the performance gains were even more noticeable. Great product for the price!!

    WORTHLESS

    October 22, 2012

I bought this because it was so cheap and it claimed to not require a tune. However, my check engine light immediately began to throw lean codes. I would of bought one of the more expensive CAI with the combined package with a BAMA Tuner had I known I would have to buy a tuner anyway. Now I am going to have to buy another CAI because it has been passed 30 days since I bought the thing. I just never got around to putting it on. Very frustrating way to blow $100.

    Not exactly as advertised...

    March 31, 2011

Worked fine at first but later (less than a month) gas economy went way down and I could smell gas while running. Found out ( at Ford dealership)that this needs a chip reprogram despite what is advertised. I am sure it would be fine with a re-program. It is no longer installed.

    Great bang for your buck

    March 31, 2011

This product is great for the money you spend for it. It was extremely easy to install. Only took about 35 min or so. It does add a pretty decent amount of gain and power to your stang. I enjoy it.

    Mustang Cold Air Intake V6

    March 31, 2011

You could feel the power difference almost immediately, but of course you will feel more if you buy the tuner. It was quite easy to install, except that there was one nut missing from the set. But other than that, the product was great!

Get ready for lots of problems

    August 02, 2011

This is not a very good product. Why..?? 1) No instructions at all. 2) Shield is not formed properly. I had to re-bend to get it to stop rubbing on the lines net to it. 3) The info. on AM says Tune not required. NOT TRUE. After the install my Mustang threw 7 DTC codes. The most important Lean on Bank 1 and Lean on Bank 4. So a tune IS required. 4) After the install and a short drive, I returned home and discovered the rubber mount provided to connect the snorkel end to the heat shield has busted in half. If you expect to buy and install this piece with little issues your kidding yourself. NOT RECOMMENDED.
