NT555R. The Nitto 275/40-17 NT555R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed with maximum flexibility for the weekend drag racer. The NT555R combines a high grip compound and semi-racing construction to provide maximum traction at the starting line. The tire comes molded at 6/32 of an inch and features a unique reinforced belt package to provide improved traction and high-speed stability. The NT555R is the perfect performance radial for the street or strip.

DOT approved. Can be run on the street, and deliver up to 15,000 miles of tread life in normal street driving. However, this soft and flexible tread will wear much quicker than tread compounds formulated for regular passenger cars.

Provides maximum traction on the track. NT555R's are manufactured with the original tread depth of 6/32nds” and are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing tread compound to provide maximum traction. High block rigidity, soft compounding and large contact patch provide extreme dry traction in race conditions. Low void ratio and large tread blocks optimize dry traction.

Designed for competition drag racing. The Nitto NT555R is designed primarily for competition drag racing, but is also very popular and exceptional on road courses, track racing, and drifting.

5 Year Warranty. This Nitto Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Nitto Warranty disclosure for details.

Great tires. You have to heat them up a little more at the strip to get them to hook good, but the tires are amazing. Thanks AM!

Question Resolved

Will these fit stock rims? 17x8? I dont feel like buying a new set of rims just for these tires, i want to keep them on my stock rims but i'm concerned that they are to wide for the stock rims?

  • The NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial - 275/40-17 (79-04 All) is entirely too large for your 17X8 rims. A 17X8 can fit a 255 as its largest tire.

This is my third pair of the 555 Drag radials, second on this car, these are the only dr's that last on the street and still hook at the track. I purchased the set I am replacing in early 2013, probably 150 passes and trips to and from track, last pass they still hooked loaded up on the converter! All good!

    Good Daily Driver Drag Radial

This is the best drag radial for daily driving that there is. While its not the stickiest of the drag radials, it does last the longest; and for most cars its more than what you need. I have used nothing but Nittos on the back of my car since I got it. Also, if you do not do a lot of burnouts, then you could get over 15k miles on a set.

    Excellent street use

The tires hook fantastic on the street, but only so so at the track for me. Longivity could be better as well, they only lasted 10,000 street miles and 3 passes down the track. Great product, but I will be buying the non-drag radial Nittos next time

    Great performance

These tires hook great at the strip or street. I bought 2 extra rims to make these tires last longer and to switch them out for winter. I usually run them around 12 psi at the strip launch around 3 or 4000 RPM doesnt spin at all just hooks and goes. My car is pretty much stock though.

    Great for the track!!

I use these on my '03 when racing on the track and they hook up great!! These are a great option when using 17x9" in the rear. Not bad for handling if by chance you get stuck in the rain, not recommended but ok if it happens. Dry weather-it's on and these handle and ride great!! Not bad for burnouts either:

These tires I keep buying again and again. Ever since I supercharged my 03 Mustang GT I've always had problems with the tires just ROASTING all of 1st and 2nd gear. Once I put these on I got nothing but AWESOME TRACTION!!! They last a good while and do ok in the rain. Definitely a strong recommendation to anyone who has done any F/I and is roasting tires. These things are like glue that you can still drive with everyday! This is a video of me using them and showing how well they hook up. My ride here has 353rwhp and 383wrtq

    Have not seen rain yet

The tires stick way better to the street than I thought they would. Look great and ride great. I have yet to see rain with them though. Seeing how our cars suck in the rain anyway I'm ready or the back end to do what it wants. Lol if I get any decent mileage out of them the car will see another set for sure...

Best all around Drag Radial hands down

This is the third set of 555R's I have run. They are awesome for street use and will still get you home in the rain. After they are warmed up from driving around for 20-30 minutes, they stick VERY well on warm asphalt. I can get anywhere from 7000-11,000 miles out of them. Yes, there are a few other drag radials out there that may perform slightly better for the strip but these Nitto 555R's will beat any of them for general all around use by far.

    Great tires

Great street or strip tire. They work well at 14 psi on the track and you don't lose any drivability that low. The wet traction isn't bad either as long as you stay off the gas.
