NT555R. The Nitto 305/40-18 NT555R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed with maximum flexibility for the weekend drag racer. The NT555R combines a high grip compound and semi-racing construction to provide maximum traction at the starting line. The tire comes molded at 6/32 of an inch and features a unique reinforced belt package to provide improved traction and high-speed stability. The NT555R is the perfect performance radial for the street or strip.

DOT approved. Can be run on the street, and deliver up to 15,000 miles of tread life in normal street driving. However, this soft and flexible tread will wear much quicker than tread compounds formulated for regular passenger cars.

Provides maximum traction on the track. NT555R's are manufactured with the original tread depth of 6/32nds” and are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing tread compound to provide maximum traction. High block rigidity, soft compounding and large contact patch provide extreme dry traction in race conditions. Low void ratio and large tread blocks optimize dry traction.

Designed for competition drag racing. The Nitto NT555R is designed primarily for competition drag racing, but is also very popular and exceptional on road courses, track racing, and drifting.

5 Year Warranty. This Nitto Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Nitto Warranty disclosure for details.

Did anyone have any exhaust rubbing issues with 305's? Im running the stocks right now and its that time of year to change them to i was just wondering if rubbing was an issue with these size tires

  • 305's fit fine on the rear but it is not recommended to run 305's on the front.

    Solve your tire spin problem

I had a lot of tire spin after modding my 2014. I had Ford put in 3.73's. I had my shop install an Airaid CAI, Steeda aluminum driveshaft, shorty headers, Borla axle backs and give it a tune. My Nitto 285's spun so bad it made me feel uncomfortable pushing the pedal to the metal. With the Nitto 305 drag radials I feel comfortable, in control and the car leaves hard with little drama. They are great fun accelerating out of a turn. Love them.

    10,000 miles and STILL biting!

Just like the title says, I've now put nearly 10k on these tires and they are still biting with just a little spinning. They spin a little more than when they were new in 1st, but I've also increased the power a bit. Mods are JLT, Boss IM, ORX, BBK LTH, AED e85 tune, 150 shot. My last attempt at the track yielded a 1.6 60'. The run had to be aborted due to other issues.

    Not Impressed

They have excellent grip on the drag strip, hook up nice as long as I remember to turn the traction control back on. However after 2 days at the track they are already down to the wear indicator. Definately going to look into an extreme high performance summer tire the next go around. If you can afford to put almost $600.00 into your tires every month then by all means these are the tires to buy.

    I can finally hook

I have 430rwhp and had previously ran 285/40/18 F1's on the rear. 1st thru 3rd was a handful now I have the nitto 555r DR's traction is not a big problem once the tires are heated up. The 305/40/18's really look good to.

    You Pay To Play

I bought these tires hoping to finally gain some traction from my 2006 Kenne Bell Supercharged Mustang GT rated at 510rwhp. My first impression of these tires when they were brand new was that they have unbelievable grip compared to my standard set of Nitto NT555 radials; even wet traction was outstanding. However, I've only driven on these tires for 3,000 miles and I've worn through half the tread already - that's 3/32 inches in 3,000 miles of only street driving with no burnouts or track use. Unfortunately, I had to re-install my standard NT555's with 7/32 inches of tread due to the upcoming rain conditions in my area as I would never chance it with only 3/32 inches of tread. Bottom line, unless you got deep pockets, I probably wouldn't purchase these again in spite of their amazing traction.

    Daily Driver and Track tire

My supercharged car has 425 rwhp. This tire really grips on the street well. So much better than my previous 285 BF Goodrich did. I do about 75 passes a year at my track. Having these tires is so much easier than swapping to DRs. The grip at the track is very good. Its not a bias ply tire so its not gonna dead hook but they stick very well. I do drive these in the rain and have get great wet traction. Lastly they look amazing, there is nothing like having some wide meats on the car.

    Awesome Tires

i use these tires as my daily driver tires and also use them on the track. Hook up on the street is great and hook up on the track is awesome! shaved .7 off of my quarter mile time. Absolutely love these tires. so far they have been holding up well and i hope they continue to do so. i get a lot of compliments on them, and they look great too. they are expensive but definitely worth it.

    Wow - Amazing Traction

I put these on my 2011 5.0 which was having problems sticking in 1st and 2nd and was extremely pleased with the results. They are quite a bit larger than the stock tires but only throw the speedometer about 1.3% off which is great (although you can get that taken care of through Bama, which I plan to). Could not be happier with these!

    tire review

I have put about 300 miles on these. They hook up on the street way better then stockers...With that said I don't expect them to last long but I got about 640hp and point in having it if ya don't use the increased traction makes it more manageable...

    stick like glue

I have 350RWHP on my 2006 Mustang with 4:10 rear and can break these loose above 70 deg. The gear and tires were chaged at the same time. The 285/40 KDWs I had before broke loose with my 3.31 gears easiely. I now have 12,000 miles on them and looks like only 1-2K are left. $600 a year is well worth the 0.5 sec I picked up in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile and being able to floor it around turns.
