The Nitto Tire 315/35-17 NT555R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed with maximum flexibility for the weekend drag racer. The NT555R combines a high grip compound and semi-racing construction to provide maximum traction at the starting line. The tire comes molded at 6/32 of an inch and features a unique reinforced belt package to provide improved traction and high-speed stability. The NT555R is the perfect performance radial for the street or strip.

DOT approved. Can be run on the street, and deliver up to 15,000 miles of tread life in normal street driving. However, this soft and flexible tread will wear much quicker than tread compounds formulated for regular passenger cars.

Provides maximum traction on the track. NT555R's are manufactured with the original tread depth of 6/32nds” and are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing tread compound to provide maximum traction. High block rigidity, soft compounding and large contact patch provide extreme dry traction in race conditions. Low void ratio and large tread blocks optimize dry traction.

Designed for competition drag racing. The Nitto NT555R is designed primarily for competition drag racing, but is also very popular and exceptional on road courses, track racing, and drifting.

5 Year Warranty. This Nitto Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Nitto Warranty disclosure for details.

can these tires be used for daily drive? are these tires more durable than a normal radial tire?

mdelao Year: 2000 Model: GT

  • Yes you can daily drive with them. Might not last as long as an all season tire because of the tread design and it's a drag radial but they are durable. They'll do well in dry weather and ok in wet/cold weather as long as they have plenty of tread.

Worried about hooking I have an 03 mach 1 with basic bolt ons, 125 shot, and full rear suspension upgrades. How we'll are the gonna hook with 450whp and 475 ft/lbs of torque?

Mike1109 Year: 2003 Model: Mach 1

  • With the mods you have they should hook up fairly well. I had these on my Mach 1 and they worked great!

    Sticky tires that run narrow

These tires are definately very sticky and will let you launch much harder without spinning. However, this particular tire runs narrow so the 555R in 315 size looks more like a cross between 305/295. This may be good news for those of you who are worried about clearance issues with modified hardware sharing space with the wheel wells (exhaust/gas tank/etc).

    Good traction for $$$$

These tires provide excellent traction for the miles you will get out of them. The best wear life you can get out of a drag radial.

    Soooo sticky

These tires are were an upgrade from the Sumitomo's sold here (315/17) and let me tell you they stick. I bought these thinking that they were going to be somewhat of an improvement, they're a huge improvement. To put it this way the Sumitomo's were slick in 30-40 degree weather if I got on it. These tires in the same conditions (granted they're new) grab at everything I've done. I have not had the chance to try them in wet conditions, this car doesn't see rain much at all. They also run flush with my 17x10.5 rims which the Sumitomo's didn't. Once these run out I'm going to try some BFG Drag Radials, (American Muscle hint hint). If you carry these I would gladly buy them from you.

    NIce tires

Tires fit under car nicely with 10.5" wheels. They seem to hook up quite well with limited wheel spin, far better than the firestone wide ovals that I had been using. My car has 400hp/400lb ft torque. I personally don't mind a little wheel spin it seems to cut down on repair bills at the local transmission shop. Overall I'm very happy with these, but I think if drag racing is your main focus, you might want to try something else.

    Super tires

Great tires for your mustang. If you've got a big HP car go with the NT05s or some Mickey Thompsons. But if you're maken stock to moderate power these tires are just what you're looken for. Great fit and leaves room for lowering.

    Great tire

This tire is amazing. It hooks great and is better in the rain than other DRs. I have had this tire for 10 months and there is still plenty of tread on it.

    Great compared to street tires

I went from the Sumitomo's to the Nitto 555r's and it made a pretty considerable difference on the street. I have not had a chance to see what they are capable of at the track yet. These tires will hold 2nd gear stabbing the throttle at any rpm, but they wont hold a 1st gear stab. If I roll on it in 1st, I get some wheel hop, but that is because im on stock suspension. note: i have an 04 gt, with a kennebell supercharger making 11 psi with mhs stage 1 blower cams, etc... with a set of 3.73's
