Why does this headlight unit not allow HID's to be installed? In the description of the product and what comes with it, it states what kind of light bulbs it can use and it says that it can not be used with HID's and I was just curious why it couldn't use them.

    • Lamps are sealed, it will be hard to do it, but if you have a body shop do it for you (unglue the parts, put the kit in, seal everything again), then it might work. I have the lamps, and everyone that has something to say about the car says the front looks menacing and they can't pinpoint why...

Used These to Retro Out My Windveil Blue V6!

      April 14, 2012

Hi everybody. Just wanted to throw my two cents in about the Raxiom Retro Style Headlights so people can make an informed decision on these. I'll be going into a fair amount of detail on all that is included and the ordering/shipping process. American Muscle was great as usual. Since I'm on the East Coast close by their warehouses, I got the headlights within two days. When the packages arrived, they were very nicely packaged. You get a good sized box containing the headlights. Additionally there is an install sheet from Raxiom on how to install these beauties! Each individual headlight has its own separate box. Those two boxes fit snugly inside the larger box so there is absolutely no shifting of boxes during transit. The smaller boxes them selves each protected the headlights well with bubble wrap on the tops and bottoms in addition to Styrofoam like wrapping around each individual headlight. A+ for packaging! As for the headlights themselves, they are very well done. The paint match is spot on. For those that may have read that there were paint quality issues early on, American Muscle's current batch is definitely improved over what MAY have happened. I don't have any lack of paint coverage or defects in it on the housing for either headlight, even in the vents on the side. The bulb housing is DOT approved so it is good in that regard; no pre-oxidation also is a huge plus. My only gripe about the headlights is that some sealant that was used around the painted housing and bulb lens has two air bubbles per headlight. Nothing I'd return them over though since it's barely noticeable but thought I'd point that out. The install itself was straightforward. Hard cut the wheels over to a given side, remove all bolts and fasteners necessary, disconnect the turn signal lights, pop off the bumper, radiator shield, etc and you're good to go. It's just a simple swap from there, couldn't go any easier. With the right Phillips head screwdriver, correct sized socket wrench and sockets (I believe it to be 7mm or 10mm, don't remember hehe...) and you're good there. Replace everything and you're done. It is very simple to do even for somebody new to cars like me; it can be done within two hours easy. After installing them I aligned the headlights, which was simple enough. The included Raxiom H13 bulbs are double filament just like OEM and have about the same kelvin rating and lumen output as well. Mine looked much brighter than stock. This may be more or less due to the oxidation of the old headlight lenses and the age of the bulbs, however. These headlights look great installed! Check out the pics in the Customer Pics section. They really added to the retro theme that I'm going for with my P3 S197. I've only had them installed for a few days and I'm already getting compliments on the forum that I belong to. These Raxiom Retro Headlights will definitely set apart your 'Stang from the rest, even if you're not going for a retro look necessarily! I highly recommend these! My one friend is already going to get a set once he gets the money together! To Summarize: * A.M is great as always! * Product was protected well during shipping * Headlights were in great shape upon arrival and look great installed * Install process is easy and straightforward * Compliments everywhere!

Easy install. Only took about an hour and 20 mins with clean up. Fit was surprisingly great, no ajustments needed. The hardest thing with the install was waiting for some desent weather. Great product.

      Retro Lights

      February 10, 2012

Was a little nervous taking off the front facia, but whole time spent was around two hours with hand tools and taking my time. Scares me how little is in the front of our cars. Fit was great, paint was top notch, the look is really cool. I was always worried about the plastic on the originals getting "bugged up" and scratched. No worries now. Lights work great. Just another toy to make the older look come out!

Looks good but subtle on black

      February 24, 2013

The lights arrived packaged well and I couldn't wait to get them installed. It took longer than I expected since you have to jack the car and remove the front tires. Also, word of advice, go by Ford and order the plastic retainer clips for the fender well BEFORE starting this project. You will break a few when removing as most of mine were old and brittle. Ford will likely have to order them since they do not keep them in stock. Fit and finished were very good but the visual difference for a lack car was not striking. I was a little depressed that there wasn't more contrast for the $400 bucks I shelled out. It is what it is I guess. It still looks good and is one of those things that people will notice but not at first.

      60's Styling

      December 19, 2013

Im a huge fan of S197 body style and these headlights are the way to go. I added these to my Shelby GT and wow, these lights are beautiful. You must remove front bumper in order to install, this was my first time removing front bumper and it really isn't that bad after watching a few how- to vids. I gotta say I feel proud when I stare at those sexy lights knowing I was able to install these myself. Color was dead on. I upgraded my H13 bulbs to more radiant bulb and for my added comfort I sealed lamp casing with clear silicone . Adjusting new headlights is very simple with Philips screwdriver takes few seconds. They cost 400$ simply because theyre worth it!

      That retro look

      July 24, 2012

So you want that retro look you say, well you NEED these to achieve that dream. The colour match is spot on, and they couldn't fit any better. I'm in love with these headlights, very easy to install took just under an hour, the reason for that is there are a few things you have to take off. Don't worry first timers they come with instructions that make sense, easy to follow. I highly recommend these lights even if your not going for the retro look.

      Great look, easy installation

      June 23, 2012

These are great looking. Change the entire look of the front of the car. Installation was very simple and effortless. Windveil Blue is slightly darker than rest of vehicle and other mods. Only concern is probably future road chips, but we'll try and limit the exposure. Worth the money.

These look great on my car!

      February 16, 2012

It was really easy to take out my stock headlights and pop these right in...the color matches perfectly to my Tungsten Gray 'stang, and they make it look really retro. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone!

67 Style on my 05 gotta love it.

      March 02, 2014

The only mustangs I've ever owned were and still are 1967 fastbacks and I rarely drive these except at car shows or on Sundays. So I purchased this 05 6v to be a daily driver when I'm not in my customized 1997 F150 stepside. Thanks to AM and their aftermarket parts my 05 is starting to look more and more like my candy apple red fastback. and these lights really set the stage for the looks. Color match is dead on and installation a breeze. I'll be posting photos of the before and after come spring time.

      Painted Retro Headlights

      November 01, 2013

The install was rather easy and the Dark Candy Apple Red paint was right on. I added a billet grill and chin spoiler at the same time. The only thing was the grill showed some of the red paint so I purchased some black vinyl and took a little extra time to get project completed.
