Used These to Retro Out My Windveil Blue V6!
Hi everybody. Just wanted to throw my two cents in about the Raxiom Retro Style Headlights so people can make an informed decision on these. I'll be going into a fair amount of detail on all that is included and the ordering/shipping process.
American Muscle was great as usual. Since I'm on the East Coast close by their warehouses, I got the headlights within two days.
When the packages arrived, they were very nicely packaged. You get a good sized box containing the headlights. Additionally there is an install sheet from Raxiom on how to install these beauties! Each individual headlight has its own separate box. Those two boxes fit snugly inside the larger box so there is absolutely no shifting of boxes during transit. The smaller boxes them selves each protected the headlights well with bubble wrap on the tops and bottoms in addition to Styrofoam like wrapping around each individual headlight. A+ for packaging!
As for the headlights themselves, they are very well done. The paint match is spot on. For those that may have read that there were paint quality issues early on, American Muscle's current batch is definitely improved over what MAY have happened. I don't have any lack of paint coverage or defects in it on the housing for either headlight, even in the vents on the side. The bulb housing is DOT approved so it is good in that regard; no pre-oxidation also is a huge plus. My only gripe about the headlights is that some sealant that was used around the painted housing and bulb lens has two air bubbles per headlight. Nothing I'd return them over though since it's barely noticeable but thought I'd point that out.
The install itself was straightforward. Hard cut the wheels over to a given side, remove all bolts and fasteners necessary, disconnect the turn signal lights, pop off the bumper, radiator shield, etc and you're good to go. It's just a simple swap from there, couldn't go any easier. With the right Phillips head screwdriver, correct sized socket wrench and sockets (I believe it to be 7mm or 10mm, don't remember hehe...) and you're good there. Replace everything and you're done. It is very simple to do even for somebody new to cars like me; it can be done within two hours easy.
After installing them I aligned the headlights, which was simple enough. The included Raxiom H13 bulbs are double filament just like OEM and have about the same kelvin rating and lumen output as well. Mine looked much brighter than stock. This may be more or less due to the oxidation of the old headlight lenses and the age of the bulbs, however.
These headlights look great installed! Check out the pics in the Customer Pics section. They really added to the retro theme that I'm going for with my P3 S197. I've only had them installed for a few days and I'm already getting compliments on the forum that I belong to. These Raxiom Retro Headlights will definitely set apart your 'Stang from the rest, even if you're not going for a retro look necessarily! I highly recommend these! My one friend is already going to get a set once he gets the money together!
