Opinions?? Does anybody think these would match up good with the MMD hood scoop? or would that be overkill on the hood and it should be one or the other?

    Nick212 Year: 2007 Model: GT

    • I think that you should do both I have them on my pony and they look amazing. They make you pony look mean while allowing it to stay cool at the same time. Definitely recommend getting both they look better together anyways.

Shaker Hood Scoop I have the V6 Shaker Hood Scoop but was not sure if they will interfer with the air tube that runs along the driver side to the filter. Does anyone have this set up?

Matching color or Black? Looking to get these for my hood. Not really sure on the color right now, Keep changing my mind. What have people on here done. Have they gone with the matching color of there car? Or do you go for the contrast with the flat black ones? My mustang is in Windveil blue. Let me know what you guys think!! THANKS!!!

    McMahon Year: 2006 Model: V6

    • I have matching color and I think it looks great and doesn't look like it was added to the hood at a later date. If you are afraid they won't stand out as good, then it as depends on your car color. You can put on the color match and if it doesn't please you , then you can always add the inserts to make it stand out more. I am very happy with the way mine turned out . My Mustang is "Gotta Have It Green"

      Meaner...!

I purchased the matt black vents to go along with my silver and black scheme on my satin silver V6... Awesome... Installed these in an afternoon with my RotoZip angle grinder attachment and metal cut-off wheel... Take the hood off the car! It's not hard if you have a helper and makes the whole process MUCH easier. I couldn't imagine doing this with the hood still on the car! MEASURE 5 TIMES and cut once! It doesn't hurt to measure as many times as you want to; especially when cutting into a perfectly good hood! I applied overlapping layers of blue painters tape to the hood where I measured out the cuts. Made my marks directly on the applied tape. Then proceeded to cut.. I cut from the top of the hood and then flipped the hood over and finished off the cuts that didn't go all the way through the ribs, from the underside of the hood. This worked very well...! I love the finished look! The car looks much meaner now and the vents are functional. When I shut off the car at the end of the day you can feel the hot air escaping from the vents. I can only imagine that when you are driving the flow of the air over the top of the curved hood must actively suck out hot air from the engine compartment. The only concern I have is with my Ford Racing CAI. The first, front louver of the vent crosses the seal of my CAI. So what I did was trim the plastic on the underside of the vent with a dremel and now the hood and vent closes around the CAI seal. I don't imagine water will be a factor as the CAI box has a drain hole in the bottom and the vent is back enough to not drain directly onto the filter element... But not crazy about that... the passenger side vent also seems to be forward enough to partially drain on top of the fuse cover... Not crazy about that either, but have had no issues after washing car or driving in the rain... the box cover is lipped so I do not believe there is any danger of water getting in the box itself... SO in all... I'm happy with the vents. The appearance and functionality outweigh the drain issues. Just have to pay more attention to cleaning the fuse box cover and CAI box when I detail the car! Other than that water drains right between the strut towers and valve covers to the ground...

      Excellent and functional

I decided to locate the vents in a different location than the instructions . Instead of 12 in. from the rear of the hood I went 8 and instead of 2 1/2 from the side I went 5 inches, which to me looks better both outer and underneath especially.

      AWESOME LOOKS

I just put these vents on my 05 GT and they look outstanding! It was very scary to cut the holes in the hood, but the process worked. One problem to look out for. If you have an AIRAID CAI system on your stang, you will have to trim the air box so when you close the hood, the vent will fit flush on the hood. It took me awhile to figure that out. When my hood was open, it fit fine; but when I close the hood, the vent would raise up about 1/2 inch. This problem was for the drivers side only. Another thing: if you have access to a machine shop, you can fabricate some trim pieces to clean up the under side of the hood. I'm using 3/8 aluminum to do so. Another great product from AM.

Adds an awesome look to my S197

I was a little nervous about cutting into my hood. Once I got started just kept a steady 2 handed grip on the grinder. Not an issue. Once it was finished I couldn't stop smiling. Measure twice, check your measurements, check them a third time, make sure you compare betweent he right and left side, use lots of 2" painters tape, what the heck, measure again for good measure, then get to cutting.

      Classy, Practical Addition

The functional hood vents have the look, fit and finish of a factory-installed OEM option. Also, the color match is spot-on. Additionally, the fit of the assembled parts to the vents and the fit of the vents to the hood are perfect. One hot suggestion for MMD: How about a offering a bottom vent frame option to hold the hood's insulator in place, creating a finished appearance? I, and others, would "scoop" it up.
