    Review & Installation Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a closer look at MMD’s pre painted retro mirrors fitting all 2010 and newer Mustangs. If you’ve been around the site a little while, then you probably couldn’t help but notice all the cool and unique styling parts MMD has been producing for newer model Mustangs. These plastic Bullitt style mirrors are designed to completely replace the clunky factory mirrors on your Mustang, that really don’t do much for the lines of the car. As you can see these mirrors from MMD flow much better with the retro lines of the 2010 and newer Mustang. The mirrors themselves are pre painted right here at AmericanMuscle headquarters, saving you the hassle of having to get these parts painted yourself. Of course our paint shop uses the same base and clear coat urethane paint that Ford uses in their factories. Included in the package you’ll find both pre painted housings, the mounting brackets, and new glass cut specifically to the shape of the retro housing. As far as the installation goes, you will need to transfer your mirror motors from the factory mirrors, over to the new MMD housings. While it’s nothing more than removing a few screws, it will take a little extra time, so that’s why we’re going to call this one 2 hours from start to finish, just to be safe. If you’re one of the few Mustang fans out there who aren’t big fans of the factory mirrors found on your 2010 and up Mustang, then check out these pre painted retro mirrors from MMD, exclusively at AmericanMuscle.com

Retro Inspired Styling. Complete the retro inspired muscle car appearance of your modern Mustang with a pair Modern Muscle Design Mirrors for classic race car styling. These MMD Retro Mirrors not only look great, but they come pre-painted to match your Mustangs factory color straight out of the box.

Painted Here to Match 2010-2014 Factory Mustang Colors. These Modern Muscle Design Retro Mirrors are painted right here, at AmericanMuscle HQ, with the same base coat clear coat urethane paint Ford used on the exterior of your Mustang to match your factory color perfectly.

High Quality Construction. MMD Retro Style Mirrors are manufactured from injection molded automotive grade acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) material for its superior durability and light-weight.

Application. This pair of Modern Muscle Design Retro Mirrors are designed to fit the 2010 to 2014 Ford Mustangs, including the V6, GT, BOSS, and Shelby GT500 models.

Technical Note: The MMD Retro mirrors are sold without motors, it is required to reuse your factory mirror motors and installation hardware.

    Find Your Paint Code

    • Choose the year of your Mustang from the options above. The color choices displayed will be the only exterior paint colors available for your year Mustang. The first two letters for each color option are the paint code for your exterior color.

    • If you need to verify your paint code, look inside the door jam of your driver's side door at your VIN plate to find your exterior paint code.

MMD Retro Mirrors is also available Unpainted for those who like to do-it-yourself.

Pony projection lights? Does this product retain the Pony projection lights on the ground? I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask and be sure. I could do without the Pony lights, but every lady who sees them seems enchanted by them. Hate to lose them for that reason alone!

Blind spot mirrors Do these mirrors come with blind spot mirrors in them like the stock mirrors?

    tburger

    • No, I installed mine yesterday. I like the blind spot mirror that come stock. This look of these mirrors are worth loosing the blind spot, you could always go to the local auto parts dealer and pick up blind spot mirror and stick it on. I did that on a 94 Cougar I have. Worked out well

      Retro style mirrors

I ordered the non painted mirrors as I was told the Competition Orange was a difficult color to match. I had a local shop paint the mirrors. The reassembly was easy and each mirror only took 15 minutes to complete. I used the supplied washers/shims to aid in fitment of the corners as suggested. The new mirrors are almost the same size as the original mirrors. The only difference is no spotter mirror but this is not a problem. I wanted the sport mirrors to be similar to my 69 Mustangs and now I have it. This is how the Boss should've come from the factory. Great product!!

      Retro Mirrors

Love the look and quality, got the pre-painted. They're much more cleaner than stock; less clutter, but.... I wish the quality of the mirrors (glass) was better though. The problem that I have is with the passenger side mirror. The magnification of the glass makes it difficult to focus on what you're seeing. Takes some getting used to. Gonna find some blind spot mirrors to help.

      Great Mirrors New Lines!!!

So I got these in yesterday, and immediately went to work on them. The instructions are pretty cut and dry, the only 2 problems I had were when I pulled one mirror off I broke the glass the better way to do it (imo) which I did on the other is when I moved the mirror you could see the mounting bracket and I just gently used a flathead to pry it apart near the mounting clips. The other was my grommet was not coming out so easy so I just got a little soapy water and lubed it up and it popped right out. As for look top notch they are amazing the color matches perfectly and they redefine the entire look of the car, I knew they were going to look good but until you see them in person you just do not realize how good. They fit perfect I did not need to used any of the supplied washers. As for the other reviews that stated they are not functional because they are to small or you can not see your blind spots, stop and think about what you are buying they are made to be small and sleek, and look over your shoulder like you are supposed to anyway to check your blind spots. All around I LOVE these mirrors they are exactly what I wanted and expected them to be I would buy them again in a heart beat and would recommend them to anyone that wants to add a bit of old school look.

      Nice retro look

Great looking mirrors. The paint matched up perfectly, and the packaging did an excellent job of protecting the mirrors. Instructions where ok, a bit vague at times. Managed to break both old mirrors getting them out, not sure if I was pulling from the wrong edge or not. definitely needed the washer to shim the mirror to make it sit flush. But overall very pleased with the product.

If you are a pefectionist then avoid

I love the outer look to these mirrors. Install was a breeze. The glass is very small and does not fit in the housing straight. It almost touces the edge of the housing in the upper inside corner and leaves a huge gap on the lower outside corner. I did not see a way to adjust, gaps are uneven all the way around. i am going to try and stick with them because I love the outer housing. I expected a better fit for the price so i only give it a fair on this review.

The mirrors look amazing. They need to work on the fitment of them. They send washers to help get the fitment right. So you have to take them off and on a few times to make sure they fit right. Other than that I would recommend the product. Easy to install. Looks awesome on the stang !!!

Review from MMD Retro Mirrors - Unpainted (10-14 All)

      Worst mirrors EVER

While I agree with the other reviewers that these mirrors look great, you sure can't SEE great. The blind spots these things create are ENORMOUS. The mirrors are very tiny compared to stock, and even on the small side for something like a Honda civic, which means the field of view is also tiny, in addition to the ginormous blind spots. I just had these installed today, so I will update after driving around for a week or so, but by God these are the worst functioning mirrors I've ever owned, and I've had a LOT of cars. If you care AT ALL about function, I definitely do NOT recommend these mirrors.

While these mirrors may take a little bit to get used to, you could also try adding blind spot mirrors to help aid your field of vision. I'm sorry to hear you weren't completely satisfied with your purchase. If you don't grow accustomed to the new mirrors after trying them for a week or so, do give us a call and we'll be happy to set up a return for you.

Like the look, but not how they function

Retro style of the mirror housing is great, but the mirror (glass) quality is poor; image is very hard to make out especially on passenger side. I got my unpainted so I can't comment on color matching. Fit is ok, MMD supplies washers which may be required to shim studs for a flush install. If you rely solely on side view mirrors for lane changes, etc. you won't like these mirrors.

      Love the look

Installation was a breeze, never changed mirrors before but this was incredibly easy to do. I gave 3 stars on fit and finish the reason for this. I purchased as a pre-painted part and there is a small chip in the paint. These mirrors change the entire look of the car, I would recommend this part but I believe to do it again I would have it painted by a local painter. I have not had much luck with the pre-painted parts form American Muscle. This is the second item I received with a paint chip in it.

      Old School Look

These mirrors look great, and were an easy install. Paint match was spot on as always with AM pre painted parts. One thing use an 11mm combo wrench on lower bolts, as the angle is too steep for a socket.

      MMD Mirrors 2010+

Very nice looking well color matched set of retro "Sport" mirrors. The install was easy although I broke my stock mirror glass when pulling hard on the wrong part of it. Looks is so much better than stock truck mirrors. Fit was the only issue as there is a small gap at the top where it meets the rubber on the door. They give you washers to shim it but the gap still exists. Price is a little high but I still think its a fair buy.

      Looks great!

I think the mirrors look great, but the only thing I do not like about them is that they are a little small. The also do not have the blind spot mirror on them, and that is something that was useful, but overall I am extremely happy with the MMD Retro Mirrors.

      you can fix ford's mistake.

i never liked the modern styled side mirrors on these beautiful retro inspired mustangs. i also felt the stock mirrors were just way too big! they actually blocked my vision at intersections. these MMD retro mirrors cured both issues for me, and look like they were born on the car. they don't seem small at all, in fact, they are slightly larger than the factory "sport" mirrors on the 1970s ford and GM cars. i plan on painting mine to match in the future, but they do look okay in black for now. installation is fairly easy if your familiar with working on modern vehicles.

A more fitting design for the Mustang

These mirrors fit the retro styling of the modern Mustang much better than the "truck" mirrors they come with. While some complain that the mirror is "too small" in actuality in overall surface area the mirror is maybe 10 smaller at the most. With proper adjustment a good driver will have no issues.
