How to Install Pre-Painted Side-Scoops on your 1999-2004 Mustang

Remove the factory side scoop by carefully inserting a plastic trim removal tool and prying the retaining clips off. Start at the rear of the scoop, finishing with the front edge.

Using the supplied alcohol pad, thoroughly wipe the area where the honeycomb insert will be applied.

Peel the backing from the 3M adhesive tape on the insert and place it inside the opening of the scoop. Place the bottom of the insert in first, working your way to the top. Once properly aligned, press down firmly to fully seat the adhesive tape.

Install the 6 supplied retaining clips vertically in the clip retainers. Be sure to install the clips exactly as shown below.

***Note – Before installing side scoops on the vehicle, it is a good idea to thoroughly clean the area where the original side scoops were attached.***

Install the new side scoop by locating the forward retaining clips in the body holes as  shown, followed by the rear. Once all clips are loosely installed in the body holes, press down firmly to fully seat the clips in the body.

Make sure the clips are properly aligned
before pressing down as misaligned clips can break if forced into position

Repeat Steps 1-5 for opposite side scoop to complete the installation. If for any reason you ever need to remove the scoops, repeat Step 1 using a plastic trim removal tool to release the plastic retaining clips.
