Description
Balances Exhaust Gases. The Pypes Off Road X-Pipe is excellent when it comes to balancing out the gas pressures in your exhaust system. This Pypes off road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes x-pipe for the 2005 to 2010 GT's not only increases power, but it also adds a raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters to your exhaust system in just minutes, depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved exhaust flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2005 to 2010 4.6L GT Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the factory manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Intended for off-road, track use only, does not include catalytic converters.

Hey everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is our PowerPack Bolt-on build up for all 05-09 Mustang GTs. The goal of this Power Pack is to take our stock 07 GT, and combine it with some of our most popular performance bolt ons. The result will be twofold, we’re going to add more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels, while really cranking up the volume on our 4.6L to make our GT sound as tough as it looks. Currently, our 2007 GT is bone-stock performance wise, so let’s get it outside and hear how that stock exhaust sounds, and then get it back on the dyno to get some baseline numbers down. So our stock dyno run gave us 259 horsepower, and 289 ft/lbs of torque. Alright, now that we’ve got some baseline numbers from our 07 GT, we’re going to talk to Mike Wilson, our lead calibrator from Bama performance, to walk us through some of the mods we’re going to do today. Mike, what have you got up first for us? Mike: Well, first we’re going to install this Airaid race cold air intake which is a great first mod, it’s going to increase air flow, give us a big gain in horsepower and torque, and has a really easy install. Justin: Alright Mike, I know with some cold air intake systems you need a tune, sometimes you don’t, what’s up with this Airaid? Mike: The Airaid Race cold air intake does require a tune, because of that, we’re going to install a Bama performance 93 octane race tune, which is going to increase our horsepower and torque by adjusting the spark curves, fuel map, the drive by wire calibration, really improves the horsepower and torque. Justin: That’s awesome man, I know in addition to that we’re also going to throw in a Pypes off road X-pipe, and also a Pypes axleback system as well, what can we expect from that? Mike: That’s also going to free up the exhaust flow which is going to give us more horsepower and torque, and it’s going to sound incredible compared to your stock exhaust. Justin: Our second dyno run with all the performance parts installed on our 2007 GT gave us 293 horsepower, and 309 ft/lbs of torque, making for a peak gain of 35 horsepower, and gains of 36 horsepower and 29 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. Alright Mike, that’s awesome, what do you think of the results? Mike: exactly what I expected. We’re putting the cold air kit on, the exhaust, and wrapping it all up with a custom tune, we’re definitely going to feel a big difference in the street. Justin: Awesome. Well, with that said, we’re going to get our 07 GT back on the streets, because I’m dying to hear how this Pypes combination is going to sound versus our stock exhaust so thanks again, Mike. Mike: Any time. Justin: Now that we have our 07 GT out on the road we finally get to see these mods in action and I’ve got to tell you they’re really doing their job. Our GT just pulls so much harder on the upper RPM range, which means our car is breathing a whole heck of a lot easier. The best part is, they installed easily in about 2 hours, with simple hand tools and a few floor jacks. do I have to use the O2 extenders on these on my 05 gt

  • i have an 07 GT and since there is no huge difference in the 05 and 07 models i would say no. my stock O2 sensors went right back into place just like they were.

will the Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-Back Exhaust work with the pypes off road x-pipe

  • Sure will! Axle-back exhausts bolt up to the flow tubes on your Mustang and won't actually connect right to the mid-pipe. You can use this Pypes X-pipe as a direct replacement to your stock mid-pipe and use the axle-back of your choice with no problems at all!

  • You can use the ones you have, you just need a tune to cut them off or your check engine light will stay on.

    Love it!

    Installed an intake/ tuner combo and my car seemed a little quicker, but after installing the X-pipe it was a whole different pull. WAY more mid-range and high-end power. My 2010 GT made 314whp/ 331tq with intake/tune/OR-X/ stock axle backs. Since then I've added Bassani Race AB and it sounds absolutely evil with the X-pipe. If you love raspy sounding exhaust I highly recommend this x-pipe.

    TRANSFORM YOUR CAR

    WOW. Bought from AM and pipe came in the mail about a week later. INSTALLATION: Had a shop install it, they said the install went great but they had to alter the pipe a tiny bit (bore a hole 1mm wider) to fit the passenger side O2 sensor in it, and that it was a bit of a reach. Not a problem though! Took 45mins to install with one mechanic doing it. Cost me 124 bucks at a high-end muffler shop. Before reading on, consider that I have Pypes Violator axlebacks. They're chambered mufflers, but they're high flow and loud. Not quite straight pipes, but close. Not as loud or raw as Pypes Bomb. LOUDNESS: This is LOUD! driving home from the shop I was scared to even let it above 2000RPM! Immediately turned heads everywhere I went. This is LOUDDD. You can creep quietly through a neighborhood if you have to, but if you need to accelerate.. game over.. haha.. Idle past cops. EXHAUST NOTE: Takes a bit of getting used to! After the drive home from the shop I sort of felt like I rap]ed my GT. This innocent pony was now snarling, screaming and growling as if it's mad at me... wasn't sure I loved it until I did some driving later that night...I fell in love with the sound. It's a challenge keeping the car quiet driving downtown and in neighborhoods, but I love doing it (saves me gas too, up 2 MPG). As soon as you add power, the raspy sound will come out at any RPM range. with full power, the entire band is LOUD and it opens up at about 2000, from 2000 to 3500 it gets a bit raspy, but as soon as you get it over 3500 it turns into a beautiful smooth tuned race sound. I love merging onto roads and watching other drivers faces when they hear it.. Oh, and when you start it up the hairs on the back of your neck will stand up. The sound itself is raw and raspy... but not in a bad way.. you can almost hear each cylinder fire, and it seems that having virtually the same flow out of each pipe allows this. If you don't love it at first, you will learn to love it. Goes very well with my violators. POWER: I don't even have a tune for it yet (waiting for tuner in mail) but the car breathes so much better above 4000. It reaches redline much faster. Definitely feel the horses. Pipe makes it sound like im packing 700 of em, too. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: Absolutely. Everywhere you go, your car will turn heads. Floor it, and everyone in the town will be looking for the source of that great noise. Puts Lambos and Ferraris to shame ;) Girls love it, too. Also note that without the catalytic converters, your exhaust is quite a bit more smelly, and you'll often catch a sniff of it at a light or cruising windows down. Warning: This is loud. Scary loud and agressive. If you don't want your Mustang to sound like a 700hp race car, don't buy it. I hope this review helped! Thanks AM, you guys are the best.

    Raspy Noise!

    If you don't like the raspy sound, DONOT buy this product. If you do, this is Great product! I didn't like the sound when they were first installed but after acouple hundred miles, they sound great. Awesome product.

    Great sound

    This is a great x-pipe if you want to be on your neighbors shit list. This system sounds great, especially with chambered mufflers. If you have a straight through pipe (SLP power-flo, SLP loudmouth), you will pretty much be able to wake the dead with this system. It makes your car sound great, and you will notice a horsepower increase in mid range speeds!

    Loud and Fast!

    I just got these installed recently, easy install and man is it LOUD!!! Paired with the Pypes Violator Mufflers, it truly is an awesome sound. Goes faster too, i can definitely feel more the extra Horses. Lol cops liked it too. Only thing is the check engine light due to two trouble from the fact that the O2 sensors picked up more emissions cause of no cats. programmer fixes that easily. It's great, you feel your hairs stand and a nice chill go down your spine when you start it.

    Good Start

    The pipe sounds good, brings out that \"Mustang sound\". At first I didnt like it, but its growing on me. Will definitely require at least an axle-back to complete the sound. NOTE: When installing this, you will have to remove the battery and battery tray to access the top manifold flange bolt on the passenger side. After you remove the battery and tray, also disconnect the wiring harness for the front O2 sensor as you will have to drop it with the stock H-pipe. These little hints are not in the instructions.

    Pypes off road X-pipe

    Lets start off by saying i got this part in a day and a half. what great service. Thanks AM!! Now about the product. It came nicely packaged and with instructions and stickers. looked great in the box and was pleased with the quality and price of the x-pipe. install wasn't hard if you have some experience. the hardest part was the removal of the old cats and h-pipe. After that install went great. Fits like a glove and had no problems installing. After the race tune from BAMA was installed the first start up was shocking!! This x-pipe was installed with the factory headers and Pypes Pype-Bomb axle backs. What an awesome sound if you like old school muscle car sound. It's just like a race car. Its a little raspy when the system is cold but sounds great when it warms up!! I turn heads every where I go now. As someone else said on here( Its Wake The Dead Loud). Thanks AM and BAMA!! And Thanks to PYPES for a great product at a great price!!

    Very Loud

    This x-pipe is extremely loud, worth ever penny. Your neighbors will just love you in the morning when you crank up your mustang. Great product, I would highly recommend this along with the Pypes muffler delete set up. I have them both on my 05 GT and let me tell you I turn heads every where I go. I've had cops pull me just to hear me rev up, chicks love it, and those guys with the classic stangs out there show me much respect.....its a beast let me tell you. Pics coming soon, I've been a customer of AM for 5 years now, they got me for life.

    Race track LOUD!

    This is a very loud set up and I mean LOUD! So here's the deal. If you go to the race track or really hate the people you live around then this is the set up for you. If however, you use your pony as a daily driver as I do, save yourself a few bucks and just get the X pipe. I installed the off-road system with my violator mufflers and it was just way too loud and raspy without the cats. I re-installed the cats and just the cut and clamp x-pipe and was very pleased with the result. Sounds better and you can feel the mid range power increase. Less drone then the stock H-pipe. Install was very simple with basic hand tools and mechanical skills. It took me about an hour and a half without a lift. The x-pipe looks better as well for those of you that like to look under your car alot!!
