Balances Exhaust Gases. The Pypes Off Road X-Pipe is excellent when it comes to balancing out the gas pressures in your exhaust system. This Pypes off road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes x-pipe for the 1996 to 1998 GT's not only increases power, but it also adds a raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters to your exhaust system in just minutes, depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved exhaust flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 1996 to 1998 4.6L GT Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the stock manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Intended for off-road, track use only, does not include catalytic converters.

Review & Install Video

Hey, I'm Justin with, and this is our powerpack Bolt-On Build-Up for all 94-98 Mustang GTs. Now before we get started, we're well aware of the fact that the 94-95 GTs came equipped with the 5.0 motor before eventually being replaced by the modular 4-6 in 1996. So, with that said, all the parts used here on our '98 today, will not apply to those earlier years, but the idea remains the same, to increase the power. So that's why we put together a pack of parts that should help our GT breathe a lot easier, in turn making for some more horsepower and torque, all while making for one mean exhaust note. Now, before we get started on our car, we need to grab a quick baseline number, and then hand that over to the crew to get everything installed.

concerning "modular" X pipe Hey guys, I was kinda wondering how exactly these pipes are modular? The description states you can cat these pipes within minutes to fit driving needs. I have these pipes on my car and the cats in the garage and dont see anyway of fitting the cats without cutting the pipes, am i missing something here???? Thanks

  • Yes, you have to cut a section of the pipe out.

    The Best

Absolutely amazing quality. Install took about six hours but only due to rusted bolts on my 96 gt. But once they were off, installation was easy. Its super loud and makes my stang sound like old school muscle. I would recommend these to anyone.

    Very intimidating

Sounds amazing, it is so loud! Im afraid I might get pulled over. It has a great tone to it though, its a deep, raspy, loping idle that gets Intimidatingly loud between 2-3k rpm. Rev could set off a car alarm. Sounds great if you downshift too. Still gives me chills. Turning heads everywhere I go. Can be heard coming from 1/2 mile or more. Small increase in hp. Easy install except for one stubborn rusted bolt. (When you get one, try going through downtown or through a tunnel!)

    X pipe review

Excellent product. I have installed several H and X pipes over the years and this one by far was the easiest. Fit was perfect. Took like 4 hours to get the factory one off because of the passenger side collector bolts being a pain. It took a impact wrench to get them off. After that the new one went on in like 30 min. the fit was that good. A tip would be to replace the metal collector gasket it is only 10 bucks. This pipe is louder than the previous ones I have put on. Kinda has that nascar sound.

The stock H-pipe was difficult to take off, I had to remove the starter in order to get at the bolts off of the manifold due to the 6, that\'s right SIX cats my 1997 GT had. The X-pipe went on easy and sounds mean with the magnaflow magnapack cat-back exhaust system. Great Buy!

Awesome product, made the car 3 times as loud. This would have been the first mod i done, if i knew that it made that big of a difference.
