Ask a Question

Do these light up themselves or do the lights from the gauges underneath light them?

Racer12 Year: 1997 Model: V6

  • They light up themselves via a separate dimmer switch which you can mount under the instrument panel. This switch is wired to the headlight switch. The existing lights do not shine through except for the needles and the numbers for miles and trip counter.

    Not Happy At All

Installed on a 95. The instructions that came with it where wrong, luckily I had the Ford tech manual to look up what wires I needed as the wires on the instructions where diffrent colors. The hole for the oil pressure was to small to fit over the gauge and had to be inlarged, where the power wire is for the main gauges had to be trimed because it would show with the gauge cover installed. The only thing that I can say positive about this unit was that it looks GREAT at night! But be prepaired to take the whole gauge cluster apart a few times to get it right.

    Looks Great

Overall these are an excellent buy easy to install. some tips for 98 v6 3.8L coupe owners: The power wire on the headlights is not gray it is red with yellow stripes. I grounded my gauges by splicing into the rear defrost switch, the ground wire on that harness is black. Using a 3way splicing junction where you just push the wires into the junction is the easiest way to not have to solder or run extensive amounts of wire.

    Great Addition

These are awesome! They really change the look inside your car in daylight and at night. It one of the things i get the most compliments on in my stang. Watch on install as the inserts can cause interference with the sweep of the needle.

    Awesome!

White by the day and stunning black and blue at night. These gauges make the inside of your stang stand out! Way better than the old stock gauges, installation took an hour tops! Instaed of sodering the ground to the 5 in. Plate, find a screw on the plate, loosen it, tighten the wire to it, and there ya go!

    Nice new look!

Installation was overall a couple of hours. Overall, the pod was easy to remove and disassemble. I didn't use any adhesive and I think I should have. I'd go with the two-sided tape mentioned in one review and pay particular attention to the area around the holes to ensure that the needles don't bind. Oh...be careful of the guid pins on the instrument panel bezel. the two on the left side of mine were broken when I pulled out the bezel (may have been previous damage - I have never been in there before). Yes, the needles bind a bit. I tried trimming a bit, but wanted to be very careful not to over cut so I didn't actually do very much. Finding power was a bit of a pain and connecting to the wires was a bother due to tight spaces. there's probably an easier way, but this is an area I have done much work in. I love the look, but it took awhile to see them at night since it stays light very late here right now. I found the onld gauges dim in some areas. this is fully bright aross the display. I did install the dimmer on the dash above the rear defrost switch.

    great look!

Great product but the wires that needed to be soldered werent the ones that the instructions said it was. It said to solder the grey and black wires but my car didnt have those colors. Took a good while to do, but looks insane when finished.

    White Face Glow Gauges

These are great addition to my Stang. The gauges were unbelievably simple to put on with the instructions provided. Though one thing made a downfall, the recalibration of the needles for oil pressure, battery voltage, Gas, etc...

    Awesome Product

Great looking gauges, really easy to install, yeah the colors of the main wire are wrong but it's easy to know which one you need to solder. I didn't have to trim anything to fit over the needles. GREAT PRODUCT AM!
