Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the restrictive stock air box and paper filter element in your 2005 to 2009 4.0L V6 mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response all while still filtering out harmful power robbing dust particles. This SR CAI pulls in cooler denser air to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a SR Performance High Flow reusable air filter. So there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Powdered Coated Finish. The SR Performance Cold Air Intake will not only improve horsepower and acceleration, but it will also improve your Mustang's under hood appearance with a striking gloss black powder coated finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. The SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit is relatively easy to install with only basic hand tools needed. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for a basic overview of the installation process.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the stock unit.

Awesome, but missing a bolt.

The install and fit was pretty good. The M8 bolt intended for non ABS vehicles wasn't included but it was fine because I had something that fit. It sounds great and definitely feel a better throttle ...

  • A new computer tune is not required for this Cold Air Intake. However, getting a tune for this would help you get the best performance from your new upgrade. horsepower gain? How much horsepower would i gain, estimating is fine, unless you know precisely. Thx

MustacheMustang

  • depends on the exhaust - remember, if you're not getting rid of the exhaust there's no room for forced air...low restriction exhaust should be 1st, then cold air intake. With proper re-tune possibly 12-15 HP gain.

What filter replacement does this take? The SR performance filter that looks like this is a 3 1/2" inlet. This kit is NOT 3 1/2" pipe. It is 2 3/4".

TBuckTex

  • The SR Performance Cold Air Intake Replacement Filter - 3.5 in. Inlet is designed as a direct fit replacement for all SR Performance Cold Air Intake Kits and will work with SR Performance Black Cold Air Intake (05-09 V6)

Not the best bang for your buck

I bought this product based of the reviews and it was a good price. I'm glad others had more success than I did. AM did a great job getting it o me fast. The product came and was missing 1 clamp, 2 bolts for the lower heat shield, no *supplied* t-20 torx tool, and no instructions. The heat shield was bent and had to be reformed at the arms(no big deal, just an inconvenience.) The drilled holes were too small for the bolts supplied. The holes had to be drilled larger. This install was not quick or easy. Took a good hour to hour and a half. When it's all said and done it's just an expensive engine dress up accessory. No power boots were noticed, I'm sure a tune is needed. The ONLY reason I rated this 2 stars is ONE for AM's quick delivery and TWO the CAI makes a cool whistle sound. Don't waste the money.

    Stack CAI

This CAI definitely provides better HP but if you are installing this yourself be prepared to visit Home Depot for missing part. You will need the following (3)5/16" washers, (2) 8mm wing nuts,(2)1/4" washers,(1) 5/16"x1" Bolt, (1)5/16" nut, T20 torx tool. This should all cost around $5.

    annoyed...

first of all it does the job when talking about an increase of power, very noticeable on a v6...but no instructions, and not alll of the necessary screws made it hard to install... it was really really annoying, but i guess....but sounds great and does a good job, and btw its been two days and the rubber double-sided screw already broke. and like someone already said you must stretch the MAF wire to connect it!!!!

    not the best!!

was an easy install, but after installation there was rough idle and p0174 and p0171 emission codes. after clearing them and sealing leaks, the intake has a high pitch ring. stock is much better..do your research!!!

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Both P0174 and P0171 can be caused by the MAF sensor being dirty or a leak being present. Cleaning your MAF sensor and checking for any leaks as you've done would solve those trouble codes. Part of installing any intake, whether it be stock or aftermarket, involves making sure there are no leaks in the system to prevent any problems. Your new system should be running well now - if you're having any other issues, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

    SR performance CAI

Looks great, but the metal sheeted wall just doesn't line up and i had to makeshift where the the bolts would be place. Put in pretty ghetto like due to alignment.

    looking for speed

With no instructions it took a little time to figure things out, once I got it in noticable throttle response right off the bat, as far as gas mileage I have not driven enough to tell. I think its worth the price compared to other cold air intakes.

Really Good Product! READ THE REVIEW

Intake came really quick (3 days). Began putting the pieces together and realized that 2 of the nuts to the ABS attachment at the bottom of the heat shield were not to be found. I had to wiggle with the placement of the heat shield and the throttle head to fit, but worked out fine. Love the performance and the sound is incredible! Looks great under the hood! Don't be disappointed if you don't get all the parts. It's happened to quite a few people, including me. Great Buy!

    not entirely happy with this

I am not going to lie, the product is good, looks good and the price is awesome, but before installing this i recommend trying to assemble it before you put it in the engine bay. this will make your life easier. also look on you tube for help, since there was no instructions and the ones on AM were pretty much useless. The clamps that were sent to me were too big, so i had to go and buy new ones. I now have a check engine light.... no sure if it needs a tune. after all the hassle, i do recommend this product for a kid like me that nots Mom and daddy sponsored but i would advise spending a few extra bucks on something better with a tuner
