Description
Light Weight. Weighing in at 24lbs less than the stock factory GT driveshaft this one piece driveshaft greatly reduces rotating mass giving you up to 2 tenths improvement in your 1/4 mile times.

Tapered for Clearance. This light weight one piece driveshaft features a tapered 3.5" to 4" design giving extra clearance needed to avoid interference that can happen on lowered Mustangs with a full 4" shaft.

Superior Design. Designed with a completely new pinion flange which the driveshaft bolts directly to, unlike the competitors versions which use a flange adapter that can contribute to unnecessary vibration.

Application. This one piece aluminum driveshaft is designed specifically for use on the 2005 to 2010 GT Mustangs with either a Manual or Automatic transmission.

    nice shaft

    January 15, 2011

if your car makes any kind of horse power at all this is a good idea.. mine is only putting 405 at the wheels and i had almost ripped the factory drive shaft in half. i took it to a shop near where i work for them to install and it only took an hour at best. since the installation i have noticed less driveline vibration and the car feels smoother when getting into the gas. and it also smokes the tires a lil easier lol.

    What a difference!

    March 12, 2011

Installed this yesterday and after taking my stang for a ride I kicked myself for nor doing this sooner. Car is way smoother while driving and you can feel it pull way harder as I go thru the gears. This should be everyone's second mod after a CAI & a tune

    What's all the hype about?

    May 10, 2011

Have had this installed for about 2 weeks now and my experience isn't anything to write home about. Install was quite simple. Be prepared to change the flange at the back (a helper makes a big difference). You'll lose some fluids so have some on hand to top it up after, and getting the new flange in will require some convincing to get it sealed properly (a mallet helps). After install I noticed much less of a 'clunking' sound coming from the rear of the car (prevalent in stock 2-piece DS). I have noticed no vibration. I also had the car dyno'd before and after the install and had negligible difference (1-2 hp off from initial dyno of 303hp rwhp) on 2 pulls, so I'm not sold on the 'less rotating mass = more RWHP' arguement. I bought this mainly to eliminate the clunking noise that was more pronounced from the OEM DS after I installed J&M UCA and LCAs (the bushings in those parts are less forgiving than stock, and as such seem to transfer more noise to the cabin). It did this, but aside from that I don't really notice much in the way of performance difference. For 800-900+ (since you should have a DS safety loop too), I think you could spend your money in better places first if all you're after is performance.

    one piece drive shaft

    May 26, 2012

This is a great product to add to your Mustang performance parts. Everything fits great. The noise level is greatly reduced compared to the clunking of the stock drive shaft.

Very excellent addition to my build

    March 16, 2013

An excellent addition to my vehicle. Very smooth ride, much lighter piece: That stock DS is HEAVY! Feel much safer at high speeds with this DS and the DS Safety Loop.

Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft (05-10 GT)

    January 20, 2013

I have ordered products through American Muscle and I can count on getting the correct part, in excellent condition, and in a timely manner. This particular driveshaft fits the car perfectly and has taken care of the noise that had developed in the drivetrain. In addition, I noticed better acceleration after installation of this driveshaft. I chose this driveshaft after reviewing other websites and rely on American Muscle to offer good products. My background is as a Ford diagnostician.

    A Necessary Upgrade

    September 20, 2014

I purchased this aluminum one-piece Axle Exchange driveshaft for my 2006 Kenne Bell Mustang GT as a proactive/preventative measure since I didn't want to take any chances with failure of the OEM two-piece shaft at the track - the installer initially installed the DS backwards in spite of the instructions clearly highlighting the words "install with boot facing rear of vehicle" - I have since had this corrected. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos to share as I took them when the shaft was in backwards. First impressions: my Mustang has always reached redline almost instantaneously in first gear with the Kenne Bell blower, so I can't say that I really noticed any appreciable difference. I've been checking my gas mileage since the install and currently getting 17mpg in city driving with moderate hot-shoeing - that's with almost 600bhp. I honestly believe that I've gained at least 1mpg due to the new driveshaft, but can't really confirm. The quality of the parts appear very durable and should last a long time. I also purchased a Moroso competition safety loop to meet track requirements. I've dropped about 100 lbs from my cars overall curb weight by installing this driveshaft and installing AM's AMR aluminum charcoal 18X10 wheels wearing 285/40-18 NITTO Extreme 555's out back. With my current 570-580bhp rating, 3248-3348 lb curb weight, stages, 1,2 and 3 Steeda G/Trac suspension with fully adjustable Tokico D-Spec shocks/struts, I should theoretically be hitting 60mph in 3.124 seconds, but that remains to be tested. I would definitely recommend this part as a safety measure if you intend to track your high horsepower steed.
