Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com checking out a fast and surefire way to stiffen up the front end of your 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT with this SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace. SR Performance is a name that every Mustang owner should be familiar with by now thanks in part to their wide selection of performance and suspension components with prices that aren't going to break the bank. If you'd like to check out more from SR Performance for your Mustang, you can always head back to the website and check out SR Performance under the featured brand section of the homepage. This SR performance strut tower brace has a tubular design that does an excellent job of reducing chassis flex and body roll without creating a harsh feeling in your suspension. It gives the car a more connected feeling instead of pushing or floating. It's also constructed from an aircraft grade Chromoly steel tubing and it's power coated black, which means it'll look great under the hood and give you daily driver cars protection from the elements. If you'd like to see more of the strut tower brace, you can always head back to the product page and check out some customer submitted images of it installed on customer cars. And while you're there, you can read up on some customer reviews of the product as well. Keep in mind that while the strut tower brace does an excellent job on its own, it does pair really well with other suspension upgrades like a set of lowering springs or even some sway bars. It just does a really great job of tying all of these components together. Now installing this should take you about a half-hour or less. And it fits perfectly over the factory intake manifold without any issues. If you guys have any questions about the strut tower brace or the install, you guys can always feel free to reach out to one of our many Mustang experts by phone or email, and they'll be more than happy to help you out. So if you're looking for a quick and budget friendly way to tighten up your Mustang's handling, you should definitely check out one of the SR Performance's Black Strut Tower Braces for 2005 to 2010 Mustang GTs available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Will this fit over a 2014 with a boss 302 intake

  • The SR Performance strut tower brace will not clear the Boss manifold. However, we do have one that will. http://www.americanmuscle.com/boss302-strut-brace-0512.html

Will this work with a supercharger the Phase 2 Roush on my 09 GT

Just put this on my mustang and was wondering do I need to remove the hood liner? Seems I have to let the hood shut harder to get it to latch. Also, do I need to put washers under the brace when placing it on the strut towers or do I put washers under the nuts? Maybe no washers at all??

MikeW

  • You do not need to remove the hood liner for this to be installed. Also, there is no need to put washers underneath the brace as it will be able to fit with the hardware placed on top of the brace.

    Fit 2013 V6 perfectly

I took a chance and purchase this brace based on another customers review. I can confirm that it fits a 2013 V6 perfectly. No issues with space or rubbing against the motor. Pictures uploaded. The grabber blue dirty V :-) Car feels good and a little more stiffer. Not much but a little.

    Did more than expected

Thought this would stiffen the chassis, and improve chassis life... And it did/probably does. What I didn't expect was the increased power delivery. Because it keeps the front squared, both front tires remain planted, which has noticeably increased torque on the back tires. Before my tires would slip if I hit 3000 rpm off the line, but now my tires can lose traction in 2nd as well. Obviously I need stickier tires, but it's a noticeable torque difference. Before installing, my mustang would pull hard left off the line. After install, that problem disappeared.

This "least expensive" option worked just fine

I have a 2006 GT convertible which I just bought with 62 k miles on it. It has been partially re-skinned and has a noticeable rattle from the disassembly & reassembly of the drivers side door. I obsessed over which strut tower brace to buy. I decided on this one because it is the least expensive. I was worried about potential fit problems with a "four bolt per side" brace. I figured that, since the Boss 302 & Steeda braces are only two bolts per side, I'd be okay. No clearance problems at all with the stock manifold. No shims needed. Pretty tight fit with the metal A/C plumbing near drivers side firewall. The difference is astounding. Much less rattle and vibration. I now realize how much cowl shake I used to have. Car feels more solid and planted. Even that darn door rattle is reduced. If you have a convertible, you must get a strut tower brace & this least expensive model is well-made, good looking, and EXTREMELY functional!

    Not usable for me

Bar doesn't clear the plenum cover even with two shim washers. Can't use until I can figure out how to extend the strut bolts.

    Strut Tower Brace

My STANG is a 2007 GT convertible. This product has dramatically improved my ride. It is awesome!! It handles the turns like a new Coupe even though it is a convertible. This product has absolutely reduced the windshield shake. It took about 5 minutes to install. I believe Ford has introduced the Strut Bar to all of its Mustangs of 2010 series. They should have done it sooner especially on all Mustang convertibles. Anyway, an excellent product well worth looking into. It will certainly make your old Mustang feel like a new one.

    Strut Tower Brace

I installed this brace last week and drove my 08 GT through the Texas Hill Country, and I have to say - I had a blast! This brace really stiffened up the front end. I also noticed that under 90 mph, the hood shake was less pronounced. This brace might not have all of the "flash" that the other ones have, but it does the exact same thing the 200.00 ones do... And ofcourse, American Muscle came through like always. I probably spent a total of 3500.00 dollars on this website - and it was worth it. I WON"T buy parts for my Mustang anywhere else but here!

    Great deal

Bolted right up, tight fit, excellent look and craftsmenship. It tightens up the front end and makes the steering feel firm on bumps. Great suspension add-on for the price, now need to find good emblem for chrome center section

    Nice

I put a suspension kit on my stang before I bought the brace. I thought the brace would make the suspension feel more harsh. Not so ! The brace makes the front shocks feel like they are actually doing some work and absorbing the bumps better. This is a great product for the price and installs in 5 minutes. If I had to do it over I'd install the strut tower brace before doing a suspension kit. The diference is almost unbeliveable.

    plenum cover caution

strut tower brace fits over plenum cover if you add a few washers, but be carefull when driving hard, the brace will rub on the cover just enough to leave marks on the cover. I took the cover off, there must be a brace that will clear the cover without such a tight fit.

    beware of fitment

Overall, quality of paint and fitment isn't bad. The central chrome piece on the black bar is a little cheesy, but does offer a good place to put some sort of logo. Feel less bumpsteer in car now. Bar WILL NOT clear factory plenum cover on GT models without modification. Either remove cover and replace with bolts above cover, or prepare to have lots of 5/16 inch washers as shims, to cheapen the entire engine compartment look.

    V-6 install

I had read someones review of putting this on their 05 4 liter without mention of any problems, so I went ahead and ordered it. Got it mounted mounted and realised lack of clearance between it and intake manifold., also made strange noises when driving it. Really liked product and didn't want to send it back. So with a little creative use of washers and carefull grinding of intake manifold all is well. Nicely made and the price can't be beat . Just thought I would give a heads up on anyone with a 6 that it wasn't really designrd with us in mind, as it seems most things are not. Shopping at American is always a good experience.

    This brace looks good

Product looks good however if you take it off a few times the paint will start to peal away at the bolt site. Flake not just get worn down. Also This brace will not fit over the Ford Racing Intake

    fits the 3.7 perfectly.

item arrived 2 days after ordering, dropped in place in minutes! PLENTY of clearance with the 3.7 intake to get your hand in there for cleaning. i sprayed mine to match my car with duplicator spray cans. the car feels a bit tighter now when taking turns at speed, but that maybe just knowing it is there? i plan on doing more chassis bracing and suspension upgrades in the future, this part was my first step!

    Totally worth it

First off, I thought this was fitted for all models. My bad. When I laid it on, it made contact with the manifold. But, as others have said, a couple of washers on each bolt and it fits perfect. The improvement in handling, particularly body roll at low speeds, is really noticeable. definitely worth the price.
