Sumitomo's HTR Z II series tire is an ultra high performance summer tire. The aggressively designed 255/45ZR18 delivers extraordinary performance in either wet or dry conditions, on and off the track.

Uncompromising traction and handling. The HTR ZII's extra wide, arched tread blocks deliver uncompromising racing slick-like dry traction and handling. Dual steel belts with spirally-wrapped Jointless Nylon Band reinforcements deliver high-speed stamina and predictable handling, while still minimizing weight and right uniformity. Single Strand Beads help improve wheel fit and retain rigidity under high stress cornering.

Excellent anti-hydroplaning characteristics. Multi Directional Water Channels push water to the sides and away from the center providing excellent hydroplaning resistance and road grip in adverse weather conditions.

Smooth ride; minimal road noise. In addition to outstanding performance, the HTR Z II Series Tires deliver a smooth ride with minimal road noise. That way you and your passengers can be treated to the sounds that really count, like the growl of your motor, the whine of your supercharger, or the bass thumping from your Mach 1000 stereo system!

Unique flanged lip protects rims. The HTR Z II Series Tires also feature a unique flanged lip on the lower sidewall that helps protect your expensive rims from curb damage while parallel parking.

5 Year Warranty. This Sumitomo Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Sumitomo Warranty disclosure for details.

Best Fit: 18 x 9 Inch 2005+ Wheels

  • Wide block shoulder stabilizers strengthen shoulders for maximum dry grip and greater, more predictable, steering response for cornering control.
  • Full-width, high density steel belts promote stable, predictable handling, smooth ride, even tread wear, and superb uniformity .
  • PSP Technology optimizes overall casing durability throughout the life of the tire

NOTE: These are ultra high performance summer specific compound and tread tires. Use during the summer and warm temperature months will result in superior traction over “all season” tires. Use during the winter months/cold temperatures significantly reduces traction and increases stopping distance as the compound becomes less sticky.

    go with Nitto 555

I should have stuck with what I know. I tried these but am not impressed. They don't look as good as the Nitto's i had before. The wet traction is horrific. Dry traction not bad. The tire looks like the size isn't correct. Either not wide enough or the tread doesn't extend out enough, just doesn't look like a traditional low profile tire like the Nitto. will not purchase again.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

NITTO tires are higher performance tires when compared to Sumitomo tires. Sumitomo's have a harder compound and will consequently outlast the NITTO tires. The thread pattern can also make them look somewhat different, but if you ordered the same size, both brands would have the same sidewall and width.

    Looks can be deceiving.

The good: The tread looks great. It has a very nice "aggressive appearance". Nice, deep rain grooves. They offer great dry and surprisingly wet traction. A lot better then the stock tires. The bad: They will not hold a balance. I have had both tires rebalanced twice now and the steering wheel (front tires) still vibrates at speeds over 25 mph. Can be felt in the break peddle too. Never had this issue with the old tires I had in the past and yes, I did have the front suspension looked at and the ball joints and tie rods are fine as well as the break rotors, pads and wheel bearings. At highway speeds, you can see the steering wheel "wobbling". Have less the 1k miles on them. Will be getting them re balanced for the 3rd time today to see if it makes a difference. If not, I'm calling cust support and will see about getting them replaced.

    Not For Track Use

Despite all the claims of great traction, after 3 track sessions all I can say is I'm glad they were cheap and can't wait until they wear out, which from all indications won't be very long. The tire and tread look great, so for street driving and the occasional straight line throttle blip, I would say definitely get this tire, but on the track they feel like grease. I wasn't happy with my stock P-Zeros (255) and 30lb Ford wheels, so I switched to a set of 20lb track wheels, which alone should have made a huge difference, and a set of 275 Sumi's. Not only is traction worse, but I scooped a handful of rubber out from the inside of my front wheels that was causing a huge imbalance vibration at 100+mph.
