Review & Install Video

Sumitomo's HTR Z II series tire is an ultra high performance summer tire. The aggressively designed 265/35ZR18 delivers extraordinary performance in either wet or dry conditions, on and off the track.

Uncompromising traction and handling. The HTR ZII's extra wide, arched tread blocks deliver uncompromising racing slick-like dry traction and handling. Dual steel belts with spirally-wrapped Jointless Nylon Band reinforcements deliver high-speed stamina and predictable handling, while still minimizing weight and right uniformity. Single Strand Beads help improve wheel fit and retain rigidity under high stress cornering.

Excellent anti-hydroplaning characteristics. Multi Directional Water Channels push water to the sides and away from the center providing excellent hydroplaning resistance and road grip in adverse weather conditions.

Smooth ride; minimal road noise. In addition to outstanding performance, the HTR Z II Series Tires deliver a smooth ride with minimal road noise. That way you and your passengers can be treated to the sounds that really count, like the growl of your motor, the whine of your supercharger, or the bass thumping from your Mach 1000 stereo system!

Unique flanged lip protects rims. The HTR Z II Series Tires also feature a unique flanged lip on the lower sidewall that helps protect your expensive rims from curb damage while parallel parking.

5 Year Warranty. This Sumitomo Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Sumitomo Warranty disclosure for details.

Best Fit: 18 x 9 Inch 1994-1998 Wheels

  • Wide block shoulder stabilizers strengthen shoulders for maximum dry grip and greater, more predictable, steering response for cornering control.
  • Full-width, high density steel belts promote stable, predictable handling, smooth ride, even tread wear, and superb uniformity .
  • PSP Technology optimizes overall casing durability throughout the life of the tire

NOTE: These are ultra high performance summer specific compound and tread tires. Use during the summer and warm temperature months will result in superior traction over "all season" tires. Use during the winter months/cold temperatures significantly reduces traction and increases stopping distance as the compound becomes less sticky.

Question Resolved

I'm shopping tires, what's the width difference in 265/35/18 and 315/35/18?

  • The width of a tire is actually the first number listed in the tire sizing: ie. for the 265/35-18, the width is 265mm and for 315/35-18, the width is 315mm. Hope this helps!

Bad alignment killed my last set

I loved these tires, they're great for tearing through a turn and I have wider one's in the back that hook up great when I'm launching. I haven't had any trouble with the front hydroplaning and I can throw it into a turn without worry. These wear well too, unless you have a poor alignment after lowering your car and don't take care of it, then the inside edge is goes and you need new ones.

I bought a set of 4, 1 year ago, and thought they set my Mustang looked mean, the only problem I had was when I hit a large rock in the road, it caused the tire to not hold air, that is why I ordered a replacement.

    Sumitome HTR Z

The best tires I've driven on a track day! I bought these tires for my '99 Cobra Mustang to drive on Track Days at my local road racing track. At about $150/tire these are a good value for an all-out performance tire. To maximize grip, These are oversize tires with wheels two inches larger than stock. I bought the wheels from American Muscle, reviewed below. They have outstanding traction underr all circumstances and transition smoothly from full traction to sliding and hook back up smoothly as well. Braking is also very strong. Be aware this type of tire is not great in the wet or on ice. They also don't come with a mileage warranty. For daily driving, I would recommend a high performmance all weather tire, or in my case a high performance snow tire because it can snow from September to May.

Good, just not in the rain.

These feel good on regular driving. They make some noise in high speed turns, but nothing to complain about. They are terrible in the rain, but I also came from stock 16x8's to 18x10's, so I can't compare it to other wide tires.

    they work for me!!

Very nice tires, especially for the price. Bought these with the 18x9 motorsport black bullitts and they look great! They give my Mustang a more aggressive. These tires have a beautiful tread pattern and provide great handling and control on wet and dry surfaces (for DDs). The only down side is when AM mounted my wheels, they placed the marking paint on the side of my tires where they're on the facing the outside of my car.

    Great tire

Handle well. Grip road wet and dry and braking. Quite. Being low profile they seem to be a little stiff and I notice every bump and ripple in the road but handling is a good trade off for that.

    Great Tire

Got these in a wheel/tire combo and they're great. Handle awesome and for some reason they said that they had a 220 treadwear rating and I got the tire and actually had a 360. No complaints here, love the look and feel.

    Not for wet climates

I purchased these a year and a half ago along with the Saleen style wheels and they look, feel, and sound great. Very quiet! Traction on dry surfaces is exceptional.
