Sumitomo's HTR Z II series tire is an ultra high performance summer tire. The aggressively designed 275/35ZR18 delivers extraordinary performance in either wet or dry conditions, on and off the track.

Uncompromising traction and handling. The HTR ZII's extra wide, arched tread blocks deliver uncompromising racing slick-like dry traction and handling. Dual steel belts with spirally-wrapped Jointless Nylon Band reinforcements deliver high-speed stamina and predictable handling, while still minimizing weight and right uniformity. Single Strand Beads help improve wheel fit and retain rigidity under high stress cornering.

Excellent anti-hydroplaning characteristics. Multi Directional Water Channels push water to the sides and away from the center providing excellent hydroplaning resistance and road grip in adverse weather conditions.

Smooth ride; minimal road noise. In addition to outstanding performance, the HTR Z II Series Tires deliver a smooth ride with minimal road noise. That way you and your passengers can be treated to the sounds that really count, like the growl of your motor, the whine of your supercharger, or the bass thumping from your Mach 1000 stereo system!

Unique flanged lip protects rims. The HTR Z II Series Tires also feature a unique flanged lip on the lower sidewall that helps protect your expensive rims from curb damage while parallel parking.

5 Year Warranty. This Sumitomo Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Sumitomo Warranty disclosure for details.

Best Fit: 18 x 9 Inch Wheels 1994-2004 Wheels

  • Wide block shoulder stabilizers strengthen shoulders for maximum dry grip and greater, more predictable, steering response for cornering control.
  • Full-width, high density steel belts promote stable, predictable handling, smooth ride, even tread wear, and superb uniformity .
  • PSP Technology optimizes overall casing durability throughout the life of the tire

NOTE: These are ultra high performance summer specific compound and tread tires. Use during the summer and warm temperature months will result in superior traction over "all season" tires. Use during the winter months/cold temperatures significantly reduces traction and increases stopping distance as the compound becomes less sticky.

Ask a Question

What is the mileage rating of this tire?

  • The mileage really depends on your driving style. When driven conservatively you will be able to get upwards of 35,000-40,000 miles. This is a high performance summer and will not have as long as a life of a standard economy tire due to the softer compound that it is made of.

I have a 2000 GT convertible, will these fit my front 18x9 deep dish bullitt's? I see the recommended sizes for the staggered set are 285/35-18 for the rear and 275/35-18 for the front. That seems really wide for the front tire..I was told by an AM cust rep the Sumitomo sizes are a bit different then other manufactures. Anybody running this set up? Thanks!

  • The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/35-18 (99-04 All) can fit up front however we would recommend putting a 255 on the front rather then a 275.

    2002 Gt

I have put 26,000 on a set I ordered from AM with 18" wheels, mounted and balanced. Just discovered two tires are separating from sidewall. Will have to replace even though there is several thousand tread miles remaining.

    Cheap tire, BEWARE

These tires might look good on your stang, but they are not worth it. I had my set on mine for about a year & about 20,000 miles. They would get a flat spot after sitting for a few days and it took ~10-15 miles to work itself out. They also got these dry-rot type cracks all over the outside edge. I finally had to take them off the car after one of the tires developed huge bubbles in the sidewall. Tried to get a new set, but was informed that this problem wasn't covered under the manufacturer warrenty due to the use of tire shine products. I never once said I used those products in any of my emails, so how they assumed that I did I have no idea. If I could do it all over again, I would have definately spent the extra $$ and bought the Nitto tires instead.

    Good Tires

I am no "Tire Guy." I can only tell you I bought a set of these with a set of 18" Saleen Rims and I have had no problems with them. They are not good in snow, but they have good grip on dry roads and do ok in the rain. I have driven 15ooo miles without any problems so far. I would recommend these to anyone.

Great Tire for a Great Price

I have bought 4 of these tires and they are very good tires for the price. Dry performance is excellent and wet performance is surprisingly good thanks to very deep treads. Wear is very good as well. I will be buying these again when the time comes.

    Best track tires I've driven

These are soft and sticky with an aggressive tread. I bought them for Track Days at a roadracing track and they perform very well. They slide smoothly and hook back up smoothly. Braking is smooth and aggressive. Of course, driving that way does not maximize the life of any tire. As a single purpose tire, they are not great on wet roads and are not rated well for ice. They also do not come with a mileage warranty.

Great tires. The aggressive tread design looks awesome and hugs the road even on wet pavement. The low profile helps reduce tire sway in tight turns. Very good bang for the buck.

    Great Product!

Put these on the front of my car with some 18X9 rims and the ride quality is great! Good dry traction, havent had them on long enough for the treadwear. Wet traction is so much better then the previous tires I had on there. Cant beat the performance and price of this tire.

    daily abusive driver

I drive my mustang the way they are supposed to be driven. I bought my mustang with the 265 version of this tire on it. After a race season, a few burnout photo sessions, and blowing the doors off some tuners here and there they needed to be replaced, nine months in the making. These 275s hook and scream. Unbeleivable how american muscle can sell these for such a great price. Noone else can touch this deal

    Poor design and rubber quality

If you're looking to save a few bucks on budget performance tires, look elsewhere. I've had these tires less than two years with only 6000 miles on them and they already have cracks all over in between the treads. They have terrible traction on wet roads, to the point you'd swear you had bald tires on. The other issue is flat spots. It takes several miles driving to smooth out the tires if the car has sat for a couple of days. The only positive that I can say about these tires is that they have decent traction on dry pavement. Just be VERY careful driving these on wet pavement.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

This is the first I've heard of the cracking between treads on these tires. Sumitomo does have a warranty on their tires, warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original useable tread. If your tires have a defect and they meet the warranty requirements, we can certainly replace them for you. Give our customer service a call so that we can look into this with you further.

    Sumitomo HTR Z II 275/35-18's

I ordered this tire with the Saleen black chrome 18x9 inch rims. Not only do people like my rims but they were commenting on my tires, too. Great traction, really holds to the ground well. I use my mustang as my daily driver and I have about 21,000 miles on these tires and the tread wear is still pretty good. As far as the "unique flanged lip" on the lower side wall to protect your rims works to a certain extent (for example, slowly backing into the curb, the tire catches before the rim) but nothing extravagant. I filled these tires with nitrogen, make sure you have a nitrogen tank yourself or a shop that does them for you. Overall, great product, will buy these tires again.

    Well worth it

I got these tires on my fr 500s rinses and let start and say they are worth it. They hug and grip the road like a beast. The tires also look nice which is a bonus and the ride is very nice.
