Sumitomo's HTR Z II series tire is an ultra high performance summer tire. The aggressively designed 275/40ZR18 delivers extraordinary performance in either wet or dry conditions, on and off the track.

Uncompromising traction and handling. The HTR ZII's extra wide, arched tread blocks deliver uncompromising racing slick-like dry traction and handling. Dual steel belts with spirally-wrapped Jointless Nylon Band reinforcements deliver high-speed stamina and predictable handling, while still minimizing weight and right uniformity. Single Strand Beads help improve wheel fit and retain rigidity under high stress cornering.

Excellent anti-hydroplaning characteristics. Multi Directional Water Channels push water to the sides and away from the center providing excellent hydroplaning resistance and road grip in adverse weather conditions.

Smooth ride; minimal road noise. In addition to outstanding performance, the HTR Z II Series Tires deliver a smooth ride with minimal road noise. That way you and your passengers can be treated to the sounds that really count, like the growl of your motor, the whine of your supercharger, or the bass thumping from your Mach 1000 stereo system!

Unique flanged lip protects rims. The HTR Z II Series Tires also feature a unique flanged lip on the lower sidewall that helps protect your expensive rims from curb damage while parallel parking.

5 Year Warranty. This Sumitomo Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Sumitomo Warranty disclosure for details.

Best Fit: 18 x 10 Inch 2005+ Wheels

  • Wide block shoulder stabilizers strengthen shoulders for maximum dry grip and greater, more predictable, steering response for cornering control.
  • Full-width, high density steel belts promote stable, predictable handling, smooth ride, even tread wear, and superb uniformity .
  • PSP Technology optimizes overall casing durability throughout the life of the tire

NOTE: These are ultra high performance summer specific compound and tread tires. Use during the summer and warm temperature months will result in superior traction over “all season” tires. Use during the winter months/cold temperatures significantly reduces traction and increases stopping distance as the compound becomes less sticky.

Ask a Question

Will these tires fit the 18" factory wheels on a 2010 GT? Front and rear.

  • The 2010 Mustang GT's came with factory 18x8 wheels. The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/40-18 (05-14 All) will not fit as the tire will be too big for 18x8's. If you are looking to use these wheels, I would recommend using either an 18x9 or an 18x10.

Can you advise on the Speed Rating Value of these Tires? Are they W, Y???? Also, can you advise on typically how long the tread life is on these tires assuming someone is not track racing, auto cross racing and or doing burn outs?

  • The speed rating of the Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/40-18 (05-14 All) is 149+ mph which would rate them in the Z category. Also, the tread life of these tires is going to be around 25,000 miles.

Will these tires fit? Will these tires fit on 18 x 10 wheels on the rear of a 1991 mustang gt with 1.5 inch lowering springs without modification? If not, any recommendation on what size tire i would need? Also the size tire i would need for 17 x 9 on the front? I have a 5 lug conversion set up too if that helps.

  • 18x10's on the rear are slightly large for a 91, in both diameter, and width. The quad shocks will either need to be flipped or removed completely and the fender will need to be rolled and/or pulled for proper clearance. With the correct offset, a 17x9 with a 245/45 will fit on the front, and a 18x9 with a 245/40 will fit on the rear.

  • I assume you are running an 18x9 wheel on the tire size you are currently using. That is the largest size for an 18x9 that we recommend for proper fitment. This 275/40-18 tire would be too large and should be combined with an 18x10 wheel instead.

what is the speed rating on these tires?

  • Actually, these tires are W rated, which means up to 168 mph. This information was gathered from the Sumitomo website.

    Very happy!

I really bought these tires for the tread pattern and the wet traction capability. They look good on my new Bullit rims. Still to new to rate performance. So far ride and noise good. A little nervous on the tread wear capability. They have a lower rating than the original BFG's.I got almost 47K on them

    Good Tire For the Money

I had bought the staggered wheel and tire package from AM with these tires, had to replace a rear one after 1500 miles after I picked up a nice size bolt in the tire, luckily these tires are priced reasonably compared to the name brand tires. These tires have good dry pavement traction and are decent wet pavement. The tires seem to be holding up quite even after a few burnouts here and there:).

Amazing Dry Traction! Best Cornering Tire!

I purchased 275 40 18 HTR Z II about 3 weeks ago I have been pushing thes tires in the corners to test how good they are. I'm able to take corners that I know the rearend would have kicked out on me with my Perelli tires that where brand new when I purchased my mustang with only 25,000 Miles on it. I have found that the wet traction is good but I did slid once on a wet painted line when I was driving to fast and had to stop fast. So tried several 50 mph hard stop in pouring down rain and the have not slid at all and was able to stop just as fast as in the dry. these tire have the best cornering grip of any tire have ever driven on

    Sumitomo's just ok

To start off, I ordered these tires along with a set of 2010 GT500 black machined rims for my 2011 v6. They were a lot better than the stock Michelin tires that came with the car. They felt great except for that I was getting vibrations above 70 mph. I thought at first this was maybe due to the dynotech driveshaft that I installed on my v6. This was not the case however, because when I switched back to the stock tires I had no vibrations. Long story short, I traded in my 6 banger for a 2014 GT recently and remounted the Sumitomos. Got the same vibrations at over 70 mph. I did some research online and found out this issue was caused to my tires not being balanced properly. I took my new GT to a local tire shop and had the tires rebalanced. Now all vibrations are gone. There is one other issue I have now, traction. The new GT's have a lot of torque and it is really easy to break these tires loose in first. I feel like they are on par with the stock pirellis, even with the wider contact patch (275 in the rear). Don't get me wrong, these tire look nice, and perform well in both dry and wet conditions. But if you get on the throttle, they will just spin. I wish I would have spent the extra money to get Nitto's or Mickey Thompsons.

Big sticky tires add an aggressive look as well as wonderful functionality. For someone as frugal as I am, I can say I have not the slightest regret purchasing these tires.

    Killes it off the line

I have 18/10 inch rims all the way around and with the wider tire for curb rash protection. Ive got almost 11 1/2 inches of rubber on the ground. Great off the line and grips turns pretty good. Only thing is now thats its getting a little colder , im losing grip when I just calmly take off from a dead stop. It get some little screaches even when im trying not to.

    Love the look.

Tires look awesome on my 07 GT. Bought the 18X9's with 275/40/18's. Love the look and plan on lowering about an inch in the front and inch and a half in back. No clearance issues. Haven't really driven in the rain yet but haven't had any issues so far.

    no traction

with 345 rwhp and 4.10s on 18x10 fr500s I couldn't get any traction, and now with a blown 462 rwhp its like im trying to get traction on ice. I'll be purchasing the 305/40r18 nitto 555r's from AM to take their place
