Speed Shift. The stock automatic shifter is good for everyday driving, but it has some drawbacks when it comes to serious street/strip performance. TCI's StreetFighter Ratchet Shifter for the GT and V6 provides a positive stop shifting action that allows you to manually “speed shift” your Mustang's transmission without fear of hanging between gears or missing a gear all together.

Race Inspired Appearance. This Ratchet Shifter not only improves your overall driving experience, but it also has an equally impressive race-inspired billet appearance that makes it at home on the track or the street and comes complete with a lighted gear indicator for perfect gear selection.

Direct Fit Installation. Don't know if I have a defective shifter or not

How does the shifter work? What is the lever in front of the shifter for? Is it comparable to the old slap shifters that were around in the 70s?

  • the lever in front is a sort of "safety". the handle ratchets between gears on its own. when you pull the lever, it allows you to go into neutral, reverse and park.

Does it have overdrive? I want to use this to replace my stock shifter but, my original has an overdrive button on this side. Does this shifter have an overdrive button?

  • Yes, the overdrive button is located right above the PARK indicator. You can see it in the product picture. It's marked O/D. It's a toggle button; press once for O/D off, which turns on the dash indicator; press a second time to toggle O/D back on.

  • The TCI StreetFighter Ratchet Shifter - Automatic (10-12 GT, V6) will not fit a 2013 V6. This shifter is designed to work with the 10-12 style V6 mustangs.


I wanted to know if this one would work on Mustang GT 2014. 2010 Mustangs are using same transmission and it seems like size of this shifter is same as stock on on 2010-12 and 13-14 Mustangs. I could not get an answer from the manufacturer but in theory this one should fit 2014, right? Has anyone thought about it or tried? I love the mod and its a pity it was made and tested only on 10-12 stangs. Shifting buttons on 13-14 GT is a shame...very impractical, inconvenient. Hope you guys can help me out with this.

  • In 2010-2012, Ford's shifter's could shift to the next gear without the "safety" button depressed. In 2013 they implemented a button which does not to be pressed to shift into the next gear, and this shifter would not work due to not having a way to shift to the next gear without that button. If this shifter was installed and used on a 2013 and/or 2014, that "safety" level may allow it to work if it is pulled up, however, you would run the risk of putting the transmission into neutral, reverse, or park. We cannot guarantee that it would fit, as we have not attempted its install on a 2013-2014, but we would not recommend this if it did.

    Bad shifter out of the box

    It was defective right out of the box. It wouldn't come out of park. When you put your foot on the brake. I am going to try another one. I will repost after I get it. I am getting fast at the removal and install. 2 times so far after talking to TCI and trying what they told me what to try. But no luck. No rating yet.

    Superlative shifter!

    Great features; the ratchet works in both directions; both upshift and downshift between 1-2-3-D and D-3-2-1 with a single push or pull of the shifter. Positive reverse lockout to shift into N-R-Park. Overdrive button located on the shifter console above the Park indicator. The installation was straight forward with ordinary hand tools. The install took me about three hours and was perfect when complete. The shifter looks awesome and performs even better. It's great not having to worry about missing shifts any longer. I highly recommend this product!

    Excellent shifter option

    If you are looking to replace your stock automatic shifter look no further. This thing looks great in my 2011, Fits right in. When doing the install disregard the instructions that come with it and print out the ones you find here on AM. They are much better for any 11+ mustang. Make sure you don't move the shifter out of D and you should have no problems the hardest part is removing the transmission link cable from you old and attaching it back on the new one. I would suggest that you don't bolt it in till both cables are attached to give you some more wiggle room. The only issue I had was that my "helper" moved it to the P position and it took about 3 hours longer than it should have. Took it on the test drive and works great. THIS IS NOT A PERFORMANCE MOD it will not boost HP it is more for ascetics and the fun of shifting through gears with no fear of going to far. Make sure you have a Torque wrench that will go as low as 6ft lbs or 80in lbs.

    This is a great up grade. It took a little over an hour to install. Could do it again in 45 minutes. The only problem is the red indicated doesn't work in 1 and 2. It works in all the other gears but since I shift by feel and not by looking at indicated it is not a problem.

    2010 Supercharged GT, I love this shifter!!!

    I absolutely love this shifter it is freakin AWESOME!!! I prefer a manual but got a good deal on my 2010 that i couldn't turn down and it was a Auto but this shifter gives it a great feel and i can actually drive it close to like a manual and i love it! The TCI Streetfighter Ratchet Shifter is the best, i wouldn't have it any other way!

    First shifter showed up on time. I installed it per directions but all lights lit up and shifter did not move at all. Called A.M. and they shipped one right out. 2nd shifter worked great. Is nice to have but over priced. should cost around 299.00

    It's awesome when it works

    This product is very fun when it works I've had a couple of system failures but AM has been pretty good getting me the replacements when things went bad. The 1st one I purchased was bad out of the box the 2nd one worked for about a week then got stuck in park and needed to use the override button to drive it. The 3rd and hopefully the last one should be here this week. I had a shift ball made for mine to add more fun but I can say it's pretty sweet when it's working.

    Nice Shifter

    This shifter is a nice upgrade for you auto Stang. The installation was not very difficult. Just follow the instructions and take your time. This unit works very well and looks great too!

    The shifter performs well and is solid. It improves overall performace and gives more control launching the vehicle. I would recommend to anyone who had 2011-2012 Auto transmission to buy this for their first mod.

    awesome look and feel

    I love this new shifter manually shifting is far more chrisp and responsive I love this not to hard to install use the costumer submitted instructions far easier to follow.

    So glad I got this

    Took less then 2 hrs. Hardest part is figuring out how to disconnecting cable. Instruction pics are not the greatest. Looks so good once installed. Love the look. Definitly Adds to enjoyment of driving my car.

    Clocked wrong

    The shift works great.After I took it apart and reclocked the the gears in the shifter.TCI don't put these shifters together.They are sourced out and put together somewhere else.The first one I put in wouldn't come out of Park.The second one AM sent was the same way.Stuck in Park.So I called TCI and AM. Then I figured out what was wrong it.There's I pin that runs through the shifter that was in the wrong place. The ratchet gear/plate has a slot cut into that the pin is suppose the set in.So the shifter can unlock from park and reverse and go into Drive and ratchet mode. AM was great with the service they gave.I did call AM and TCI once I found out what was wrong with it.But as far as shifter goes it is great.
