Ask a Question

Does this weatherstripping kit fit on the outside of the windshield. Wanted to make sure this windshield seal was the seal that fit on the outside of the windshield along the perimeter.

So, is this a matter of removing the dry rotted one and installing the new one into the groove or do you have to remove the windshield, install the weatherstripping and then putting the windshield back in?

  • I guess I'll answer my own question. Why YES, this IS only a matter of removing the old one and sliding the new one in place versus having to remove the windshield. Note in my comments below...the space between the windshield glass and windshield molding is tight, so use a plastic pry tool to gently "open" the gap a bit so you can slide the new on in place.

    Windshield got it's groove back!

I receive compliments on my frosty AM windshield banner, but when some folks have come in for a closer look, they're distracted by/commented on the sagging, dry rotted and color faded windshield seal weatherstripping. Kinda got embarrassing for a while...until I decided to purchase and replace it with with this part from AM. Got here quick and fit like a champ. Use a plastic pry tool to gently lift the trim from the windshield so you can slide the new weatherstripping in. FYI: this is two pieces; each piece from the corner is 2' 3 3/4" so you'll need to cut the weatherstripping at the top middle were the two pieces meet and you'll need to cut where it meets the lower windshield molding. So far so good...now to install a small profile antenna to finish the fresh look!!!
