1988 Mustang Overview

The 1988 Mustang had only a few changes. It began the switch to fuel injection, and an upgrade of the 5.0 engine to handle 225hp! The GT sold the most in 1988 with 68,468 units produced.

The handling package was upgraded for this year with aluminum intake plenum, E7TE truck heads, and a complete stainless steel exhaust system. The tires also went back to being 15x7 Uniroyals as the standard option. The California versions of the Mustang were now coming standard with a mass airflow sensor to meet the emissions standard.

The GT also got a much more ergonomic interior, with work being done to make the dash, instrument panel, climate control knobs much more stylized. Back to top
