Description
Gain Up to 12HP. Replace your Mustang's restrictive factory throttle body to gain up to 12 horsepower and improve throttle response for power you can really feel. The BBK twin 62mm throttle body will improve airflow where it matters most, maximizing horsepower from all your mods and really waking your Pony up off the line.

62mm Twin Blade Design. Your stock throttle body chokes off airflow and keeps your Mustang from breathing freely and giving you all its got. This BBK throttle body features a generous, free flowing 62mm twin bore design.

CNC Machined Aluminum. BBK's throttle bodies are cast from high quality, lightweight 356 aluminum alloy that is finished using CNC machining to ensure a precision fit. They feature double-sealed bearings, o-ringed throttle shafts, and precision die-stamped linkages to ensure a long life and maximum performance for your Pony.

Bolt-On Installation. The BBK Throttle Body is designed for a straightforward installation and includes all necessary hardware. It is designed to be installed reusing the factory throttle body gasket making it a no-hassle mod.

50 State Legal. This free-flowing 62mm bore version of BBK's popular twin throttle body is CARB approved for all 1996 to 2001 Mustang Cobras. That means you can upgrade your street-driven Pony without worrying about yearly inspections, even in states that have adopted California emissions restrictions.

Application. This BBK Throttle Body is designed to fit the 1996-2001 SVT Cobra, 2001 Bullitt, and 2003-2004 Mach 1.

Technical Notes. This BBK throttle body is CARB certified (CARB EO Number: D-245-13 (1996-2001 only)) and 50 state legal.

Ask a Question

Will this product interfere with the cruise control on my 2001 Bullitt? I saw in the reviews of the Twin 65mm from BBK that Bullitt owners experienced idle issues when installed. That steered me away from that product, but I still want to upgrade my TB. I was hoping this was the proper alternative.

Forddork

  • I had a similar issue with my Mach, but it started idling normally after a week of use, I believe you just need to be careful if you install it yourself and you should be fine.

Will this product fit my factory air intake on my 96 cobra?

JcTree

  • Certainly - this is a direct replacement for the stock throttle body and would bolt up without issue to your stock air intake.

    BBK 62mm Throttle Body

This throttle body is pretty awesome once installed. Had a bit of a problem with the throttle positioning sensor because the screw didn't come out so I went to auto zone and bought another TPS for $28, but no big deal. After it was installed took it for a test drive and definitely felt the low end on it. Not too much of a gain, but definitely noticeable.

    Nice upgrade

This is a nice upgrade from the stock throttle body. Not a huge difference but you can tell more air is getting into the engine. Easy install also

    PLAIN HORRIBLE

First, I bought this part from a competitor due to it being sold out here. But I want to spread the word so this horrendous incident of time and money happens to nobody else. I have a 2001 Cobra that just had the engine rebuilt, JBA headers, Magnaflow full exhaust, BAMA tuned, Steeda under-drive pully and a JLT true cold air intake and more done but not relevant to keep going on. I installed this TB and my RPMs shoot up when I pull in the clutch, pedal feels ugly, and idles anyhow it feels which gets worse as the car engine warms up. I followed the BBK online '.pdf' instructions carefully and still runs horrible. I call BAMA and they say a new tune will not resolve the issue and it would be pointless. I take it to a mechanic and he said that it need to have it brought to a DYNO to compensate for the new airflow after messing with it for half a day at my expense because they could not get it to function properly either. But if that is the case then why can't BAMA write a tune to fix it. I think that this issue stumped him too and he told me that to wash his hands of this issue because nothing is wrong with the installation of the TB. I then send BBK an email and get a response back "We have sold that part for 12 years without issue" basically blaming me for the issue and to send it back to get a new one. Nothing mechanically is wrong with the TB and returning it would be a waste of time because they do not know what else to do and have no other recourse to tell me. I am putting the factory TB back on because this issue has costed me and others over 100 hours of trying to figure it out over the course of buying this part. On a last note, upon observation nothing is stopping the screws on the butterflies to come loose and be sucked into the engine. The OEM has the screws crushed on the back to avoid this but the BBK one does not. I am sure that has happened to others and turned a few engines into scrap metal since this part has been sold. This is my true and horrible story. This part is NOT a direct replacement. Do not believe it.

sounds great with my cold air intake

when i first installed it i was already frustrated with buying sensors trying to solve an idle problem by most afordable proccess of elimination, well it didn't work and when i first installed it i made the adjustment the instructions called for and the problem was worse than the stock TB i was replacing but soon figured out it was my cruise control cable that needed adjustment which i did not see anything about in the instructions . ran good for about a week and now it rides very rough on acceleration and the gas peddle is very sticky making it hard to accel or decel smooth. car wont give me a break 74k

    Decent throttle body

Had a little trouble keeping the throttle in place so the RPMs would stay at like 2000 every once in a while but now it seems like its working just fine. Try it out for your self!
