Review & Installation Video

Hey I’m Justin with, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at

Mustang Styling. This set of four Black MGP Caliper Covers are a great way to set off your new rims and they feature modern "Mustang" lettering on the front two covers and the iconic Tri-Bar Pony logo on the rear two. These Officially Licensed MGP Caliper Covers will give any S197 Mustang a big brake race ready look that will turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over factory brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on a 2005 to 2010 and newer V6 or GT Mustang.

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

Do I need a set of spacers for both front and rear? Or just one set? If just one, would that be for the front or back?

  • If you were to need spacers for clearance, you would only need them for the rear as the front should clear without spacers.

If you look at the MGP website, it says for a V6, with 16 inch wheels, these will not fit. Is that true? It did say for 17 and 18 wheels they would fit.

  • The MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ Pony Tri-Bar Logo require a 17" wheel or larger on both the V6 and the GT for proper fitment.

I have 2006 Mustang V6 with 18 inch wheels do I need spacers? Thank you

  • These covers should in no way be a problem with 18" wheels, even 17" would not rub or in any way interfere with the brake covers. These covers will give the wheels a bold new look though, sure to be noticed.

Will these fit on the 2014 V6 Mustang? I have everything on my Car with the Pony and the Tri-Bar emblem, and this would make it complete if it will fit.

  • No it will not fit.

will these fit on 2011-2014 mustangs

  • No, the MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ Pony Tri-Bar Logo - Front & Rear (05-10 GT, V6) will not fit on the 2011-14 mustangs. We do have a MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ 5.0 Logo - Front & Rear (11-14 GT, V6) Kit that can be found here:

Work with factory rims? Will these caliper covers work with factory wheels on a V6 stang?

    caliper covers

these covers really dress up the black rims nicely. the product is very good but the only set back or issue I don't particularly care for is how they get attached. you have to ensure you put the spacers on the front end as they suggest and if the brackets are not closed in enough they will rub along the brake rotor making a loud noise. installation is simple and takes a few minutes. make sure you are looking at the small details on gap spacing and don't be surprised if you need to make some corrections after first drive.

    Not as labeled

The website says 05-10 mustang GT and V6 and I have a 2010 V6 mustang with stock rotors and calipers and brake pads. Nothing anywhere near the caliper covers has been changed to a different size or anything and the caliper covers did not fit, they ground on and scratched the rotors up when installed so I had to remove them.

    Nice clean look

The installation was straightforward and took less than an hour. Including replacing the front set of brake pads. They are a tight fit and we had to jigger one of them as it was just barely touching the rotor. I'm really digging the clean look and I'm dying to see what they look like when rolling down the freeway.

**Show Stopper** - The Perfect Appearance Mod!

I purchased these caliper covers for my 2011 Performance White V6. I couldn't be more satisfied with the MGP product. The covers are the absolute best appearance modification for the mustang; they really amplify curb appeal! Superior quality and craftsmanship, far better than paint applications. Ridiculously easy installation and maintenance is a breeze.

Cool Looks...but get the 1/4" spacer!

I really liked the finished look that the caliper covers gave my 2006 V-6 mustang (with factory 17"x8.5" bullitt wheels.) When I ordered them about 2-mos. ago the 1/4" spacer wasn't offered and I scraped the front set inside edge pretty well. They were very easy to install and would buy them again (although a bit pricy!) If you have 17" Bullitt factory rims be sure to get a set of spacers for the front...the back clearance is fine!

Look great but a tricky install

The end result looks great. It takes more time to remove and reinstall the wheels than it does to install the covers. I did and do still have some issue with squeaking. Initially both rear wheels squeaked. I removed the brackets and found that the bottom of one clip on each wheel was scraping the rotor spine. I bent the bottom part of each of these parts upwards and reinstalled the covers. No more squeak on the right side and on the left side some minor scraping when turning right exists. It is so minor I think i will ignore it. Or maybe stop making right-hand turns.

    Cherry On Top

The installation of the MGP Black Caliper Covers was easy following the instructions from MGP. There was no need for spacers with my Chrome American Racing Nova Wheels (18x9 VN701) from AM. The look of black caliper covers from AM with my EBC 3GD Series Dimpled and Slotted Sport Rotors along with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and the AM Custom Nova Wheels makes the complete package for my taste. The perfect street wheel setup.

Even though I could have got them to match my Mustangs paint (Kona Blue) the black adds to the blackwall tires.

Love 'em but get the spacers for front wheels

Love the look on my black 09 Warrior Edition with stock calipers and factory 17 inch premium painted cast aluminum wheels. Gotta agree with Jeff S in that you will scrape 'em on the front unless you use 1/4 inch spacers. Front wheels spun OK on jacks but when I put car on the ground and test drove it around the block the passenger side rim scraped a line of powder coat off the caliper cover. At that point you can touch up with shiny black caliper cover paint if you have a small scrape as I did; or, if you have a bad scrape call the friendly folks at MGP they will re-finish caliper cover for $25 each plus shipping so all is not lost. Installation video on AM is very helpful. I am glad I got these and really like how they cover the stock calipers.

    Easy Peasy!

Installation can not be more simple. My only complaint would be that the covers do not "completely" cover the calipers, but for the cost and ease of installation (as compared to replacing the calipers) this product is a no brainer!

Judges at shows always took off points for the calipers being dirty...this is an easy solution. Very great product looks great.
