Q & A (1 Questions, 2 Answers) Ask a Question

Are the letters transparent, or does the switch cover the light for the door lock? On the 2010 Mustang, the "L" and "U" light up. Does this chrome accent still allow the switch to light up?

Pimp my ride. At first it was a tight fit, hard to lock, unlock. But after a week, it is smooth and pimp. Others imitating, these are the real deal. Thanks am. Makes my 07 California special, bling bling

Perk Up Your Interior With These Switch Covers

    January 07, 2015

I have a Sterling Grey base V6 Mustang coupe and love it, but it needed interior and exterior trim to perk it up. For the door panels, I added three things: these switch covers from AM, a set of smooth chrome door lock pins (other vendor), and from the first gen Mustangs, I added the small '69 pony and tribar door panel inserts (remove the pins and two-sided tape). With the switch covers, I was one of the few reviewers, though, who found that the switch covers would bind and require pressing the switch several times to get my doors to lock. I studied the switch covers and saw that the bottoms were catching the outer wall around the lower part of the switch. I took a dremel and removed a good 1/8" or maybe more of the lower REAR metal, not the front that you see, and cut the back off at a 45-degree angle going to the back of the cover. I then added new two-sided tape. The switch was now better, but still not right. I then took a flat file and carefully filed the rear off a tiny bit more. I added new tape again, and stuck the covers back on. The operation is nice and smooth and you can barely see the metal I removed. A word of CAUTION: if you dremel the metal off, be sure you wear goggles as a LOT of tiny metal pieces will be flying off. Also, this little switch cover will get real hot real fast if you are holding it while trimming it. Wrap the other end in a rag to dissipate the heat. Overall, these three mods perked up my door panels and were not overly expensive. Now my door interiors look conservative and "just right." Thank you, AM, for allowing this discussion.

Chrome door locks poor fit in doors

    January 07, 2015

Installation was easy with the included alcohol wipes and took very little time. They look very good next to the chrome door handles (standard). However both passenger and driver side door locks tend to stick in both the lock and unlock position as they are slightly oversized for the door cut outs.

I bought the lock covers, then notice they block out the door lock light, so I removed them, prefer to have the lights
