Please read through the instructions carefully before starting this project. Take the time to get all the materials together as well as all the safety equipment.
Warning
When working on, under or around any vehicle, exercise caution. Please allow the vehicle's exhaust system to cool before removal, as exhaust system temperatures may cause severe burns. If working without a lift, always consult vehicle manual for correct lifting specifications. Always wear safety glasses and ensure safe work area. Serious injury or death could occur if safety measures are not followed.
Installation:
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery before removal of the OEM exhaust. This will allow the computer to reset itself with the new system and prevent electrical accidents. To aid in removal of your OEM exhaust system, you will need to cut the tail pipe from the mufflers. After removing the tail pipe, unbolt the extension at the front of the muffler from the catalytic converter extension. Do not discard or damage the OEM fasteners or damage the OEM insulators as they will be reused to mount the new system. Remove the muffler from the OEM rubber insulators.
- Install the passenger side mount bracket with the panel nuts and flange bolts supplied in the kit, similar to the OEM driver's side mount. Leave all clamps and fasteners loose for final adjustment of the complete system. Next, install the rear rubber hangers using the supplied panel nuts and flange bolts. (The frame of your car has pre-cut slots in the frame for installing panel nuts).
- Install the muffler assembly by fastening it to the catalytic converter using the OEM fasteners. Leave all clamps and fasteners loose for final adjustment of the complete system. Install the tailpipes using the supplied 2.50" clamps and by fitting the welded hangers into the rubber insulators. Install the tips using the supplied clamps hangers, and 8mm set-screws to lock the tips of the hangers. (MANGAFLOW recommends at least 1/2" of clearance between the exhaust tips and the rear fascia to avoid heat related body damage or fire.)
- Once a final position has been chosen for the new system, evenly tighten all fasteners from front to rear. The supplied band clamps must be VERY tight to properly align the pipes and prevent leaks (Approximately 65 ft-lbs). U-bolt clamps should be tightened to approximately 30-35 ft-lbs. Inspect all hardware after 25-50 miles of operation, and re-tighten if necessary.
