Will this work with an SR Quadrant? As the title states I have an SR double hook quadrant with a firewall adjuster, will the cable still fit with this? I know I can adjust it if it's too long, but will this make the cable too short or out of the adjustability parameters?

  • On the phone American Muscle confirmed that this cable would work with the SR quadrant and firewall adjuster. My mechanic is putting it in today, so we will see if they are right.

Will this work with the Steeda quadrant? I see some people have problems with different quadrants just need to make sure this will fit. Thanks!

  • The Maximum Motorsports High Performance Clutch Cable (82-95 5.0L; 96-04 All) will work best with the Maximum Motorsports Aluminum Clutch Quadrant (79-04 All), however any solid aftermarket clutch quadrant will work with this.

Nice cable - Watch your quadrant selection!

OK so this cable overall is a nice piece, I received it with the SR Quadrant and Adjuster and you can tell it's a quality part. Sadly due to the info on this page and the SR Quadrant page it was the wrong one for my combo. I can say that this cable (MMCL-11) is much too short in combination with the SR Quadrant and Firewall Adjuster. To the point that when put in, it will connect however the adjuster will be tight to the firewall and the clutch will release at the very very top. Mine was so tight the clutch wouldn't fully engage properly. I ended up having to get the mechanic to swap back to the stock cable to get it all working again. I think the MMCL-7 cable that isn't on this site is probably the one you want. I would suggest if you go for this cable get the MM quadrant and whichever adjuster you prefer as that combo should be fine due to the MM quadrant design.

I had already changed the quadrent and added a firewall adjuster, that helped and took away 3rd gear block out when power shifting. I then decided to install the motorsport cable and WOW! I didnt expect that much of a difference. Made a bigger difference then the quadrent. Super smooth clutch feel.

    Changed my Cobra

I bought a 2003 Cobra with a Steeda Firewall Adj, Steeda clutch quadrant, and Steeda adj cable. It also had a Centerforce dual friction clutch. I had the car for a few weeks and the clutch pedal was HEAVY! I am not a weak guy and my leg would be numb after a few minutes of traffic. I had heard the Steeda cables were junk so i bought this and put it on. WOW! My Cobra clutch feels like a Honda now. Love this thing!!

    No other option

Had to replace my clutch cable and wouldn't buy any other for my Cobra. Install went well, if you don't have an aftermarket quadrant or firewall adjuster now is the time to do that. The adjustable clutch cables are more prone to stretch over time this one wont and will give great performance.

USA made MM is the best

Anything and Everything made in the USA and with Maximum Motorsports name is well worth the price. This is the best clutch cable you can buy.

    Fantastic cable

Wish I had bought this a long time ago. With the firewall adjuster, quadrant, and a short throw shifter, its a breeze to shift gears. Doesn't feel anything close to stock. If your runnin a cable that has some miles on it, your risking damaging your transmission from not getting full clutch engagement, like I did.

    Holds up to its reputation

My OEM clutch cable broke on me leaving me stranded on the side of the road. I had these shipped overnight and replaced them on the side of my street. It only took about 30 minutes. I was mad that the OEM clutch snapped on me but it was a blessing in disguise. After installing this cable my clutch got MUCH smoother and softer. I could not believe how much of a difference it made. Even if your cable hasn't snapped, if you're experiencing a very stiff clutch give these a try! Its good to replace them anyways if you have high miles like I do (100k) so your clutch cable doesn't snap on you and leave you stranded! 100 satisfied with the product!

    Maximum Motorsports clutch cable

I installed this product after my factory clutch cable had snapped on me. After the install I had even smoother and lighter clutch engagement than with the stock cable. The install only takes about 30 minutes if its your first time doing it. I highly recommend this product to anyone needing a new clutch cable.

    Maximum Motorsports Clutch Cable

This is a great clutch cable. Using a firewall adjuster and a 3 hook quadrant the cable fit on the second hook and adjusted perfectly! Adjustment is only possible with a firewall adjuster. The picture on this site shows it has extra length on the cable where it hooks to the clutch fork. Just to clarify this is not adjustable here. Very great product! It's a super awesome cable that gets rid of the rubber band feeling of the steel wrapped cables!

Nice cable, just needs to be longer

This "universal" cable is just a bit too short to be used with a Steeda firewall adjuster and Maximum Motorsports quadrant. The clutch will engage, but the cable is so taut that the throwout bearing is still engaged when the Steeda firewall adjuster is tightened up all the way to provide as much slack as possible. Fairly easy install, it just requires the extra adjustability of a MM firewall adjuster when installed in a 99-04 V6. I wish AM carried them, along with their clutch pedal height adjuster.

A must have for replacing the OE Cable

This cable is stout with excellent hardware. Installed it with an FRPP Quadrant and FRPP firewall adjuster. These parts helped me dial in the release of my new clutch setup. 100 recommended.

    Great

I took my GT 88 to my mechanic for my steering pump. He replaced it and suggested that I replaced my clutch cable ( which was replaced last year when I broke down in another state ) thinking that the current one was a chinese imitation. This clutch is so smooth that my mechanic is going to replace his ( he also has a GT 88 ) with this product.

    Very Nice!!

I bought this to replace a cheaper $50 adjustable cable that had broke on me. This cable is of much higher quality than the cheaper versions that I have tried in the past. It feels much better andeal smoother throughout the whole range. It's worth the extra money to get this cable or the oem one. The difference in quality and the performance is there.

    Quality cable

Cable it's good quality. After reading the Q and A's and reviews it sounded like this cable would work well with a firewall adjuster. Cable is just a little too short and throw out bearing still touches pressure plate fingers.

    Good Quality

I needed to replaced my stock cable. I looked at the reviews for the adjustable cables and decided that I would spend the extra money and get this one. I'm happy with the overall quality of this cable. It's a bit thicker than the stock piece and the pedal feel is about the same but it does feel smoother now. Just keep in mind that you need to have the firewall adjuster and a quadrant, I have the Steeda one.
