Review & Installation Video

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m breaking down CDC’s chin spoiler fitting all 2010 through 2012 Mustang GT’s. A chin spoiler is a great way to give the front end of your Mustang a much more aggressive appearance by extending the lower portion of your bumper down closer to the ground, giving you the look of a lower stance. As you can see the chin spoiler is unpainted which means this textured black urethane material that, besides matching the factory rocker panels in your GT perfectly, also looks great on any color Mustang, as a matter of fact we’ve used this exact spoiler on both our Project Blackout, and our 2011 GT bolt on build up, which happens to be right behind me. That urethane construction is going to be key, because we all know parts like this can be subjected to a lot of abuse, whether it’s pulling in or out of steep driveways, or going over large speed bumps, you want something that’s going to be able to hold up to that extra abuse and believe me when I tell you, this urethane part will hold up much better than some of its fiberglass or thin plastic counterparts. We’re looking at a very simple install here which should take you roughly about an hour, reusing your factory hardware, and the pre-installed 3M automotive tape. You will need to rotate your factory horns to complete the install, but everything else is a complete walk in the park thanks to the detailed instructions. So if you’re looking for a mod that’s going to give the front of your Mustang a much more aggressive appearance, that’s easy to install and extremely durable, then be sure to check out CDC’s unpainted chin spoiler right here at AmericanMuscle.com

does it work with 2013 mustang v6? i have a 2013 brand new mustang v6, which chin spoiler should i choose?

  • Unfortunately not. The front fascia on the 2013 is slightly different than the 10-12 Mustangs and this chin spoiler won't fit properly.

Question Resolved

does it fit 2011 v6? So does it fit 2011 V6 at all? or i need to buy something else to make it fit?

  • This will not fit the V6 Mustang. You would need a GT front conversion for it to fit properly. We do carry a V6 Chin Spoiler that would bolt right up on your Mustang though. Check out the link below!

  • Unfortunately, this particular chin spoiler will not fit properly on the 2013 as the front end is slightly different than the 10-12 Mustang. The chin spoilers for your 2013 GT can be found here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/1011-chin-spoiler.html Hope this helps!

Plenty of ground clearance...after the new roush springs installed.

OK, the Roush dealer has added the Roush suspension kit.. including front/rear springs, anti roll bar/sway bar, bump steer kit/etc, etc. My previous clearance BEFORE the roush suspension was added was aprx 5.25" between CDC chin spoiler and grnd. After the Roush suspension kit was added... the clearance increased to 5.75" !! After a few days [then rechecked a month later]... the springs have settled....and clearance is back to 5.3" However, the Roush rear springs really dropped the rear end though.. abt 1". I still ended up with a slight rake when all is done, [and still eliminated the 4x4 look]. We also tested it very carefully....when going down STEEP underground ramps, late at night..and when stopped at the bottom, we got out..and measured 2.5" clearance. The CDC chin spoiler is vastly better in appearance, imo, than most of the other front chin spoilers. Aerodynamically, it's miles ahead of the stock ford oem unit. The CDC chin spoiler is an 'overhang'... vs the oem ford... 'under hang' . Less air beneath the car, more down-force, far more air now.... into the low temp SC rad, AC rad, eng rad, and transmission cooler. So the CDC front chin spoiler is a winner, does the job, is functional, and plane looks good.

    Worth it!!!

Great product, fits perfect. I personally had a lot of trouble getting the single screwed that holds the stock chin spliter to the bumper off. You require short handle screw driver and a lot of elbow grease. I ended up taking the entire front bumper off the car to get to it. When I think about the total installion; I think it's faster and easier to take the bumper off, as your able to paint your windshield bottle black at the same time as you'll be able to see the white if you don't. Its also much easier to move the horn bracket. The instructions will say to move the bracket up one hole, but it fits better moving it one hole towards the engine. Also you will be able to make the clips snap into place easier.

Review from CDC Chin Spoiler - Pre-Painted (10-12 GT)

    Looks nice and functional

If you've done other mods this is one mod that really compliments the others. Currently I have an '11 GT w/ SR lowering springs, GT500 spoiler, side window louvers, JLT CAI, BBK Varitune and now of course the CDC chin spoiler. I received compliments from family, friends and strangers on it (and other mods). Install wasn't difficult but it wasn't the most simple. Make sure you snap in the bottom snaps first, then do the top otherwise getting the bottom snaps in will be near impossible. It is also functional as well as looking good. Unlike the Roush splitter which I've seen heard of at least 3 people having them rip off at 150mph+, the CDC chin spoiler will definitely NOT come off. Running the numbers, it looks like it should increase high speed stability and have a bit of down force at higher speeds. Running the numbers it looks like the front chin spoiler provides roughly 30 lbs of down force at 100 mph, 44 lbs at 120, and 68 lbs at 150 mph. The GT500 provides similar numbers. So, combined that is around 140lbs @ 150 mph, that should help keep you on the road a little better.

Review from CDC Chin Spoiler - Pre-Painted (10-12 GT)

Best Chin for a 2010-12 Intercooled Mustang!

I recently completely updated the exterior of my Paxton supercharged 2010 GT. The intercooler is so large for my blower kit that it was almost impossible to find a chin or bumper to fit over it. The CDC chin was the only chin/bumper that we could find which actually fit my application and it fit PERFECTLY with minor modifications and looks like it was meant to be part of the car. I'm impressed that CDC took the time to develop a product that could be used to compliment a wide array of aftermarket applications where others did not. The plastic quality is great and with minor smoothing, we were able to paint to match the car. This is my 2nd CDC chin and I will never put anything else on my mustang. Great job guys!

    Looks good

The final fit an finish is ok. Not as tight in some spots as the factory piece , but overall was pretty straight forward. The only pain in the butt was the two screws that screwed in from the top , hard to get to and. Would recommend a stubby Phillips screw driver it made life a little easier. Also don't forget to reattach you outside air temp sensor

    CDC Chin spoiler

This was pretty much a simple install, and my son and I installed it in about an hours time. My stang is lowered and I'm a little worried about the spoiler rubbing when I drive up and down my driveway and over speed bumps, ect. However, the front end looks much more agressive than stock. My Eleanor Grill seems to stand out more too! Once again AM did a great job here, and although the fit up isn't quite perfect it makes for mean looking front end!
