Additional Parts necessary? I have plans to buy some BBK long tube headers with the BBK shorty X-pipe, so that brings me to my question: If I were to buy these would I also need to buy resonators/mufflers? I'm just looking for ways to save some money, otherwise I will be buying SLP loudmouth if this option doesnt prove to be a cheaper solution.

  • Josh, If I understand your correctly, that you're buying LTs and x-pipe along with pipes to replace your current exhaust, then yes, you will still need mufflers unless you plan to re-use what you have on the car now. I hope this answers your question.

1998 Mustang gt!! I would like to no if these will fit my 1998 Mustang gt!!! I am in need of some new tailpipes and can not find the one's for the 1998 mustang gt.

  • The rearmost hangar is in a different orientation on the 98+ cars. You can use this on a 98 though with minor fabrication of the metal hangar mount that extends from these pipes. Most any exhaust shop should be able to accomplish this for you.

1985 GT Hatchback Tailpipes? Will these tailpipes fit a 1985 GT hatchback or can you suggest pipes that do? I see that these stainless steel tailpipes are listed as fitting the 1986-93 GTs and the 87-93 5.0 LX. I have a 85 GT, which only came in Hatchback and Convertible, no notchback. The 85 GT is identical to the 86 GT, except for the introduction of fuel injection in the later model. Also, I believe that the 87-93 LX 5.0 also came in a hatchback model that was very similar in appearance to the 85 GT. In contrast, the 87-93 GTs had extensive body skirts that required the tail pipes to be turned downward as opposed to coming straight out under the rear bumper. So I am wondering whether these pipes would also fit the 85 GT. Please advise.

  • It sounds like you want to convert your exhaust to true dual exhaust from the 86+ cars. You will need to get the entire original or aftermarket system meant for 86+ cars. Your 85 exhaust manifolds connect to an H-pipe at a lower point, so if you do not replace them with the newer 86+ style headers, the H-pipe will sag very low and you'll have fitment issues throughout the entire system. You'll also need some other pieces. Here's a complete list: 86+ headers 86+ H-Pipe 86+ Cat-Back exhaust system (to include your stainless tips) 86+ Dual hump transmission crossmember (to allow clearance for your new H-pipe) Exhaust hangar mount for H-pipe (mounts with trans mount) I'd suggest going aftermarket. A good set of shorty headers, H-pipe and LX cat-back system will make a huge difference in sound and power.

1994 Mustang v6? Will these fit my 1994 mustang v6 if i have duel exhaust? because i have a dump exhaust right now and i want tailpipes again but it is not a gt. Just wondering if these would still fit even with minor modification.

  • These can fit your car but I would recommend having a muffler shop put these on because the hangers will be different and the mufflers you have on your car now may not be in the stock location. So some fabrication will need to be done.

93 gt? will these fit my 93 gt it says it fits lx but i just wanted to check before i buy them.

  • The tailpipes on your 93 GT are different than these tailpipes. The 93 GT tailpipes turn down instead of being straight.

Is there any welding needed to install?

  • You don't have I weld it you could use exhaust clamps that bolt it together, but welding it is our best bet for a leak proof seal.

    Awesome Tailpipes

I was looking for a set of 2.5in tailpipes to replace the aged set I had on the car, I wanted a set that appeared stock to give the car a sleeper look, and these tails didnt let me down, They went in flawlessly and sound great with the Pypes Violators I installed with them. Although they looked great out of the box, I did take a little extra time to polish up the exposed areas to give them a little extra pop. These tailpipes would make a great addition to your Mustang.

    Look and sound great

I had these pipes professionally installed here in florida. The installer told me they needed a lot of tweeking due to hanger placement and design. A do it yourselfer would have a lot of difficulty putting these in. Overall It was an hour of labor total bill about 85.00 to have these professionally installed. They definately sound better and look great!

    Bad choice

After doing a full exhaust from the headers back I figured I should go with stainless pipes s they last. I bought these becasue they looked good and were reasonably priced. When they arrived one of the ends was bent into an oval so it wouldn't fit into the muffler. The shop I took it to had to cut 3" off each pipe and tweak it with their pipe bender just to make it fit. Took the guy about an hour to do the install and with his best ability it still only look halfway decent. I would not reccomend these pipes to anyone, the bends are horrible and will more than likely not line up and fit on the car. Read all the other reviews and see how every install was an issue. Sure it sounds good but it just a metal pipe coming out of the bad can it sound??

U get what u pay for

First of all I like American muscle for great deals. This one was a bust. I ordered pipes, they sent them quickly as always. They were damaged so I called and asked to have them send new ones, I asked if they could check them and put more padding around the tips of the exhaust because thats the only part seen when installed on car. They said sure. They sent new ones, when I opened them they were not padded and of course damaged. I called a third time explained that these were also damadged and also they were not padded. They said they would send new ones and would make sure this time that they were inspected and have additional padding to protect them. Well third times a charm right! Wrong, same package no padding and damaged. I understand that they are not expensive pieces, but come on 3 times. The fact they they told me 2 times that they would check them and add extra padding is really what ticked me off the most. I gave up and purchased similar items elsewhere and received them with no problem.

    Tailpipe lengths

The pipes look really good. My big issue was the left bank tail pipe tip was an inch shorter than the right side. The clearances were good around the fuel tank and axle. The left tip was literally cut an inch too short. That is my major complaint. It was a disappointment to clearly see the difference. Other than that, they work well with the car.

There was a few minor flaws in the finish but overall these tailpipes are very nice looking. i would not recommend someone that isnt too familiar with exhaust work to install themselves.

    Great Tailpipes for the $$$$

I bought these tailpipes to weld into Mac Pro Dumps that would not pass state inspection. We simply took the dumps off, and welded these tailpipes right in, no problems. All the welds on the hangers are solid, no issues with rust etc. They have been on my 1996 Cobra for almost 10k miles now, and still look new. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to upgrade the look of their exhaust system, and dont need a complete cat-back system.

    nice fit and finish

The previous owner of my car striped all of the exhaust out from under it. So I had to start from scratch and these tail pipes were just what I needed. They look great at a great price.

    Good pipes for price

Bought these as a dual purpose. First to see if they could fit in a 01 GT, with little modifications. Second, if not, they were going to go into a Foxbody. Well, I opted for the SR cat back for an 01 GT and I will say that comparing the two, the tail pipes are very, very close to the same bends and could work on a 99 - 04 with some fab skills and changing the hangers. These pipes are very similar to LMR's SVE pipes and of same quality. For a show quality finish, a good emery compound and buffing wheel hooks them up nicely.

    new pipes

I put these in myself and they were a perfect fit. No modification required. Hangers were perfect and the quality is great. Solid stainless all they way and the bends were beautiful. You will need to pull your right rear wheel to get the pipe over the axle but left side went in with no problems. I hooked these beauties up to my new BBK Varitune mufflers and they sound awesome. Great product and they were well packaged.
