Description
High Flow. Are you looking to free up your restrictive stock exhaust, but are required by law to run Catalytic Converters? Then AmericanMuscle has the answer you need in the form of Pypes High Flow Ceramic Catalytic Converter Kit.

Easy swap at the track. Every car enthusiast knows that catalytic converters suck the lifeblood - horsepower - out of your engine. If you're running a Pypes modular x-pipe style configuration for track / racing purposes, these cats give you an easy way to be street legal when you leave the track.

Durable construction. These Pypes Mini Catalytic Converters are built from polished 409 stainless and feature a durable Ceramic substrate material making them perfect for naturally aspirated applications. They weigh in at 2.5 lbs each and only measure 11 inches in length.

Small Footprint. Installed, the Pypes catalytic converters have a very Small under-carriage footprint that only takes up a virtually invisible 7” in length making them perfect for custom applications.

Will pass most emissions tests. Pypes High Flow Ceramic Catalytic Converters will pass emissions testing procedures in most states. However, check your local and state ordinances for installation and usage regulations.

Application: The Pypes High Flow Ceramic Catalytic Converter Kit is designed for use with naturally aspirated Mustangs from 1986 to 2010. If you have a Mustang equipped with power adder check out the Pypes High Flow Metallic Catalytic Converter Kit.

Will these work with pypes o/r h pipe? Can these clamp into the pypes o/r h pipe?

  • Yes these will work with any exhaust setup. You may need additional pipe up-sizers and down-sizers.

check engine? will these cause a check engine light to come on?

jaimemonc Year: 2004 Model: V6

  • As long as you are using the oxygen sensors, it should not cause your check engine light to come on. If you do not have the oxygen sensor, you might check into MIL eliminators shown here for your (96-04 Mustang) http://www.americanmuscle.com/stmilel.html. I don't see any listing for 05 and up. If it does, you might have to tune your car to tell the computer that you have higher flowing cats so it can adjust.

Do I need four? My cats are starting to get hollowed out and I wanted to replace them. I was told that I have four cats, do I need two sets of these?

AlexC0 Year: 2002 Model: V6

  • Depending on if your state has a vehicle inspection code you may not need any but if you live in say Louisiana you will need only 2 to pass inspection in any state

    Absolutely no restriction

I previously purchases JBA shorty headers, Pypes x pipe and Magnaflow Magnapacks for my 2007 4.0 mustang. I thought that with that setup my car had an awesome deep loud tone to it and sounded great when accelerating. I just had these cats put on and the difference with just simple cats is ridiculous! I thought with the setup I had before I had a sick sounding car, but once I put these on and accelerated and hell when I even turned the car on I was in complete shock I highly recommend these, its a cheap and easy way to get the best air flow out of every mustang

    Amazing Product

Have to say these are the best aftermarket Cats on the market, better than the magnaflows i had on my previous car, my installer had to cut the cat pipe down and fab up new piping but def worth it, on my 04 i was even able to use the O2 bung on the cat, A MUST if you wanna stay legal and have extra power and great deep sound with flowmasters!

    Pypes Cats

Looked for some "high-flow" cats when my stock ones died. Put these on my V6. I wasn't expecting a difference in the sound department, but these made my pre-installed Ford Racing Dual exhaust sound much deeper. I've also noticed a bit of power gain. Can't wait to Dyno to see how much. I recommend this product and I approve this message.

had o/r x pipe on and was too raspy. welded a pair of converters on, and the rasp went away. not to mention the cobra regained its low end torque.

    Great Product

I have had my 2003, 3.8L for about a year now. ive done a few things to it, new transmission, clutch, and an 8.8 rear conversion. Had a nice dual exhaust setup on mine. i had stock cats, and just today my cats came in. Oh My Goodness, the big difference in sound, power, and surprize was amazing. ive actually had peope look at my car and ask me if it was a GT. Very good product, very nice employees on the phone. Very Nice setup. Thanks for everything guys!!!

    Great Bang for your buck

These cats provided a nice amount of horsepower for the money paid and also improved miles per gallon. i added them to a bassani x-pipe with flowmaster mufflers in which one of the previous cats had hollowed itself out giving a messed up reading to the O2 sensor. The sound didn't change too much, maybe a little deeper than before. The only drawback is only clamps for the front came with the kit. I had to use an adapter for the rear portion and it had to be welded. Still a great product though.

    Nice Pypes

They look nice under the car, and seat-of-the-pants feel is, very good, added allot more kick then I expected. One of two things either the old one's were really plugged up or I'm full of crap don't have any real numbers for comparison. Only down side I see is they seem to stick down a little further than the old ones, I'll have to watch for bottoming-out and scraping them. They look great under the car though, I did end up welding them in, I didn't use the clamps.

    o.k.

bought these because i had an o/r x-pipe with slp LM2's, and they were really loud. but also too raspy and the smell was pretty bad when i was parked. put these on and really dulled the sound of my exhaust to more of a low rumble instead of a growl. and still have the check engine light on too.
