Review & Install Video

So you just installed a new set of long tube headers or an aftermarket midpipe, and now your factory O2 sensor harness is a little too short. If that sounds like you, this O2 sensor extension kit is your solution. This kit for your ’86-’09 Mustang includes two harnesses that extend both your primary and secondary O2 sensor wires by 18 inches. That should be enough to bridge the gap between your factory O2 sensors and your factory harness. The great thing about this kit is that it’s completely plug and play, so there’s no need to hack up your factory harness in order to extend your wires. It’s a very straightforward install that should take you no more than a few minutes. If you’re pumped to install that new off-road x-pipe, or that new set of headers, only to find that your O2 sensors no longer fit, this kit will solve that problem easily without breaking the bank.

"Plug and play". When your modify your exhaust system, sometimes the stock O2 sensor harness just comes up too short to connect the O2 sensors, but this SR Performance harness extension kit will help bridge the gap.

Great for modified exhaust systems. If your stock wiring harness is too short to connect your existing O2 sensors to a new set of headers or a mid pipe, don't just leave the old wires dangling - because your car just won't pass inspection. Instead use a set of 18" O2 Sensor Extensions to make the connection a snap.

Application. This pair of SR Performance O2 Sensor Extensions is designed to fit on all 1986-2010 Mustang exhaust system configurations.

Please Note. The Extensions are intended for use to extend to upstream O2 Sensors; however, they can be used upstream or downstream if needed.  O2 Sensors are not included.

Technical Note. Removal of directional tabs on connector ends may be required for proper fitment on some applications.

i'm modding on a budget. i'm planning on getting pacesetter long tube headers and kooks catted h pipe. will installing this stop the engine light or would i have to find eliminators (not trying to run a tune)

jmangar

  • The SR Performance O2 Sensor Extension Kit is used to extend the length of the front O2 sensors in order to allow them to reach the front O2 sensors, and will not have any effect on the Check Engine light. Depending on the year of your mustang, MIL eliminators, or a tune must be used to eliminate catalyst efficiency codes. It should be noted that when installing long tube headers, a matching brand shorty mid pipe must be installed for proper fitment.

Would I need these for my 2014 mustang v6 if I was going to order the chambers off road h pipe? I have touring axle backs and I want to increase the sound but not make it too loud. I heard I need these so the sensor doesn't come on?

TylerR

  • These SR Performance O2 Sensor Extension Kit only work with most pre-2010 models and will not work on a 2014. To turn off the check engine light, you would need a custom tune to disable to o2 sensors. This can be done with a Bama Tuner with custom tunes, displayed in the link below: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-chips-tuners.html#shop-by2

    Easy Install

This an easy do it yourself project for any one who wants to replace their mid pipes with an off-road applicatoin. I needed these in conjunction with a pair of MIL eliminators keep my SES light off after installing an off-road X-Pipe. My 04 GT sounds amazing and and it was an easy DIY project in the garage. Thanks American Muscle, keep up the outstanding work.

    Is what it is

I had shop install exhaust today and I bought the Pypes off road X-Pipe and you need these. Once I got the x pipe it said 24" O2 sensor extensions but I already had these in so I figured i'd see if they would work and he said they did. So had no problems. Great product!

    necessity for long tubes

these are generic enough that they work for pretty much all years but you may have to nip an alignment pin off to make it work. I had to, but it won't impact how it aligns or clips.

    Excellent perfect fit

Used on my 1992 f150. Put on new headers and exhaust and needed extra length to reach original plug. Just what the doctor ordered.

    Only works after alteration

The keys on the plug and receptacle do not line up with the corresponding plugs from the car. You have to cut off the little plastic keys in order to make it fit. It's not hard to do, but it may catch you off guard if you are not anticipating it. After you cut them off the pins line up just fine, and the clip still holds the plug together. So it does work.

    o2 Extensions

I got an off road h from JEGS and they so happened to put the o2 sensor bungs significantly further downstream than the sock pipe. Bought these extensions and the problem was solved.

When I installed my pypes h pipe one of my 02 sensors was very tight, these connecters plugged right in and gave me all the extra slack that I wanted.

I got these because my factory wiring harnesses were too short to reach the back of the X-Pipe. Fit perfectly.

    They Work

I installed these with my new O2 sensors on an 04 GT and haven't had any issues with them at all. I only needed the drivers side with my UPR catted x and it plugged right into the sensor after trimming the little plastic "studs" on the sensor. Pretty simple install and easy to zip tie to the chassis and get out of the way.

Needs a "how these work" instructional sheet.

These really need a set of instructions instructions outlining how these work exactly to ensure correct installation.

    02 Sensor Extenders

Exactly what I needed for my new exhaust (SLP Loudmouth II, BBK Catted X-Pipe). Extends to perfect length and works wonderfully. Reccomend to get for any new exhaust just in case old ones can not go proper length.

    BBK o2 extension

I ordered these and prompty recieved them. They came to my work no problem, and I put them in the following weekend. No problems or codes have been thrown since installing them. I did have to shave off a tab that was on them, to get the connector to fit to my stock 02 snesors, but other than that, it worked flawlessly. I have ordered before from American Muscle, and I have NEVER been dissapoointed. They sell great products, and prices are just right. I would reccomend not on the procduct, but buy from American Muscle.
