The Pypes off-road H-pipe will significantly improve your Mustang's exhaust flow for a notable increase in horsepower and torque.

Muscle Car Rumble. This free flowing Pypes h-pipe for the 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT not only increases power, but it also adds a deep muscle car rumble to the sound of your exhaust with its classic "H" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters to your exhaust system in just minutes, depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved exhaust flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road H-pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2005 to 2010 4.6L GT Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the factory manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Intended for off-road, track use only, does not include catalytic converters.

Will this work with stock tubing and after market axle backs? I want to install this in my brother's '08 GT. We want to buy an axle back kit and an off road H pipe and retain the remainder of the stock tubing. Is this possible?

  • Sure, you can install this O/R H-pipe between your stock manifolds and the flow tubes that would attach to the GT axle-back of your choice. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to give us a call!

Will this make my engine light come on?

  • With any off-road/catless mid-pipe, the check engine light will illuminate without a tune to bypass the rear oxygen sensors.

Will this fit with the Pypes long tube headers if I already have this mid-pipe? Or do I absolutely have to switch to the other H-pipe offered to fit the headers onto my '07 GTCS?

  • Hi, This H-Pipe is designed to be used short tube headers or the factory manifolds, we do offer a H-pipe specifically designed to be used with Pypes Long Tube Headers Item# 20124. Here is the link

Will you lose sound if buying the cats with the H pipe. And if so how much sound will be lost?

  • A catted H pipe will not be as loud as an off-road H pipe.

Answer This Question

How do you install high flow cats onto this?

  • To add the catalytic converters, the Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe would have to be cut to remove the section of piping so that the catalytic converters can fit in the place of the removed pipe. We would highly recommend mocking everything up prior to cutting to ensure a proper cut and fit.

    Holy Loud

If you are looking to give your car that loud aggressive sound, buy this H-pipe as soon as you can. I'm running no cats, with SLP loudmouth exhaust tips and it is ungodly loud. It's the "hey look at my kind of exhaust". Would recommend getting high flow cats if you have muffler deletes to get rid of some of the raspiness. Overall this H-pipe for the money is for sure a great investment and will not disappoint!

    Great product

The product is great... If loud is what you want then this h pipe is for you... I don't recommend running it with no mufflers because it trumpets like a son of a gun. Pairing with borla stingers very soon to take care of that problem other than that great fit and finish

    Pretty good buy

I ordered this product and paired it with my flow master 40 axle back exhaust. The sound was awful. It was uncontrollable and sounded like my GT was packing 800 HP. I then put my stock exhaust back on in place of the 40s and now it sounds perfect. Definitely has a very nice growl. It is a tad bit louder than my flow masters were, but i can control the sound and it sounds like a normal mustang gt should. Great product, but i think it was meant to be paired with a pypes exhaust.

    PYPES H-Pipe

I bought this product a long time ago, and just switched it out for a x pipe. Thats nothing against this product its an excellent product, i just wanted to see which i liked better. overall i prefer an H pipe it has a deep rumble and deep loud acceleration. this product does "trumpet" a little bit around 2.5K RPM but so do most other products, the only way ive noticed to get around this is changing headers. but for this price this is a steal its a great product i had it on my car for over a year and it wasnt hardly tarnished when i swapped it out. the fitment was great.

    $209 of SOUND and POWER

The Pypes Off-Road H-Pype is unbelievable! The sound of my exhaust note is now amazing! It even adds low end power (extra horses) to give my mustang a little more giddy-up. Nonetheless, the focus of this product in my opinion should be around the exhaust note. Previously, I installed axle-back and cat-back exhaust systems, but was never really satisfied with the exhaust note. Too add to my anger, my friends new 2011 5.0 with Bassani axle-backs consistently diverted all of the attention away from my 2010 stang. HOWEVER!!! The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe has revived my baby!!! The sound is so NASTY! EVERYONE'S HEAD TURNS! BIKERS, SOCCER MOMS, EVERYONE! My buddies 2011 5.0 only looks good now. To be honest, in order to get a great exhaust sound, all you need to really do is install this H-Pipe. Everything else can be factory and it will still scream! Youtube and other videos barely give these things justice. P.S. I am not a mechanic and therefore chose to have my H-Pipe installed at a shop. Do not pay over $100 for installation. Some mechanics and body shops will quote it being a 2 to 3 hour job requiring north of $200. This is a flat-out untruth. I had a PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC install mine for $80 in 1 hour. This was while he installed my H-Pipe and answered the shop phone.

Installed with my existing SLP Loudmouth axleback

This system really opened up my exhaust with a whole new sound! Really loud!! It's easy enough to cruise through a neighborhood or past a cop when needed just but throwing it in neutral or up shifting to stay in low rpm's. Start up in the morning or at night is a bit too loud for my neighbors- so they have complained already on day 3 lol; they will live though. Just need to get a tune now so the check engine light will go off! Very simple!

    Pypes Off Road H Pipe

I got these a few days ago, and put them on this morning. Fit like a glove, all parts included, great finish, great packaging. As for sound, I have stock manifolds, the O/R H, and SSS Terminators. Sounds mean, heads turn. As for cruising, at 60 mph in 5th you wouldn't even know exhaust work was done, very quiet for cruising. Coasting in Neutral you can get past the police. WOT, the world will know you are coming. I would definitely recommend this for someone wanting to increase sound, and lose about 8 lbs.

    Holy Smokes She's Loud!

Great product especially for the money. I was definitely skeptical at first as I have never gone with Pypes for any of my exhaust needs on any of my Stangs. However I am very impressed with this add. Not only is it very well priced but with a tune from Bama you can definitely noticed a pretty significant power gain and obviously the sound is amazing! It does have a big of a raspiness to it but it has settled down somewhat now that the exhaust is a little broken in. As far as install goes it went off without a hitch. The clamps provided are of good quality and you just re-use the factory bands for where the pipe meets the tail end of the factory exhaust! As far as paying the extra $40 for the extended O2 Sensors, I really don't see the point. The O2 sensors on mine were not a problem whatsoever and the pipe fit like a glove! Can't wait to do the headers next! Thanks AM for selling a great product and getting it to me fast!

    H-pipe review

I had an x pipe on my car previously and I will say, hands down, the H pipe has a way better sound. If you are on the fence about what to get, read no farther, get the H pipe! I don't know why all the aftermarket companies are so bent on making X pipes, the H sounds soo much better, I can't say it enough.

    Great loud sound!

I love the sound of my exhaust now and I can't stop driving my car. I've got this paired up with my MAC exhaust and man does it sound great. I knew this was perfect when I first started it up and my wife looks at me and says," Oh man...our neighbors are going to hate us." I also loved the fact this product came in 4 pieces which made installation a piece of cake.

    a must have!!

I thought my mustang sounded good before. I was wrong. My 05gt sounds bada** now. It's actually quieter in the cabin of the car when I'm going slow or below 3000rpm, but past 3500 and my car SCREAMS!! If you want a louder, more aggressive sounding ride, take my word and buy these now. Don't think twice, just do it.

Really frees up the top end!

If you want more top end out of your 4.6 this part is what you need. Yes, it significantly increases the volume of your exhaust and I would suggest not to use with chambered mufflers, it just didn't sound "right"

This was the best add on part that I put on my car so far. I already had the Magnaflow catback exhaust but felt the sound wasn't exactly what I liked. Once I installed this H pipe, WOW, what a difference. I read all the reviews on H pipes ans X pipes and decided on the H pipe. No regrets. If you want a Muscle car sound, get the H pipe. The sound is incredible. It puts a smile on my face everytime I turn the key.

    Head turner

At first ignition I was giggling like a little kid. My girlfriend was like "omg" and I was like "Oh yeah". YouTube videos with audio do NOT do these any justice. They sound great. Mine are paired with Pypes Violators Axle-backs and this set up sounds amazing. Deep rumble and very loud when you want it to be. I live in an apartment complex and I'm able to creep into the complex fairly quiet as long as I don't get on it. These are only a "public nuisance" if you want them to be. :) Otherwise you can easily keep it quiet once you learn to shift properly and not go crazy. BUT... When you're ready to go crazy and open it up... Ohhhhh yeah! I have taken my Mustang to a few cruise in's here in Kentucky and I have gotten lots of comments sitting in neutral and reaving the engine up to make some noise. Had some folks tell me they "want my mustang to sound like that". That makes me feel good about my purchase and choice. I highly recommend these. I did notice my check engine light pop on and used my tuner from American Muscle to check the codes. P1072 and P1075. After a search I found that these indicate that it's running too rich. I'm asking around to find out if it's due to the absent catalytic converter or not. From what I'm seeing it is. After I had these installed I took a 5 hour trip to see family and the Mustang ran just fine, no issues. In fact, I averaged about 28 - 29 MPG at about 2000 RPM and just over 70 MPH for a sustained amount of time on relatively flat highway through Indiana and Illinois. It cruises pretty quiet, no louder than it was before. But I do love pulling into a gas station and making it growl a few times to get heads to turn. :) Great purchase, highly recommended, just buy them. Had mine professionally installed for about 100 bucks at a custom shop.

I have a 2007 GT with stock headers, "Pypes" off road H-pipe and Borla "Stingers" mufflers. I love the way this setup sounds! Its not that loud with little to no drone on the highway. I feel like Im driving a Maserati. I highly recommend this setup.

    Extremely Loud

I was pretty excited when I ordered my H-pipe. I researched and read all of the reveiws on this site a few times. Obviously I was expecting loud, especially since I already have an slp loudmouth exhaust. After reading the reveiws I went ahead and bought it. Install is pretty easy. If you have a lift it should take no more than a few hours. You may want to think about welding as the clamps that are provided are a little loose. I decided not to weld until I was absoluetely sure I was going to keep them. After the install I fired it up. WOW it was loud. I loved the start up sound. It sounded pretty mean. It idled quite nicely and wasnt much louder then the set-up I had before. Now for the negatives. Yes I like loud but this is just obnoxious. I slowly drove out of the parking lot and as soon as you go past 2000rpm it just fires up. Dont get me wrong I knew what I was getting into and was expecting loud but c'mon. 2000rpm and it sounds like Im punching it. Driving down the road it sounded like I didnt know how to drive manual and I was always in the wrong gear. Their is a big difference between a ahead turner and a head shake turner. Blocks down the road I could see people looking at me like I was an idiot. If you live around neighbours you will get some pretty nasty looks as well. Just starting it up early in the morning would wake them up 5 houses down the block. The sound is very comparible to a ricer which is not what I want for a 300hp v8. You really do lose the v8 sound as its drowned out by a loud raspy tone. I went back to the shop the next day and had it removed. American Muscle was great to deal with as always and through no fault of anyones but my own Im just not satisfied with the product. I realize everyone of these reveiws will tell you different but TRUST ME!, if this is your daily driver then you will not like the sound. Think of your everyday lifestyle and ask yourself if you want to "be that guy" Hope this reveiw helps.
