Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Adam here with Today, I'm bringing you a quick overview and installation of the Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Plug-and-Play Kit, which is available for all '96 to '04 Mustangs, excluding the '99 to '01 Cobra. So in this video, I'll be going over the styling and appearance you can expect from the LED Sequential Kit, as well as the materials and construction and how all this is gonna work together. Now I'll top the video off with the install, which I'll let you know up front gets a one outta three wrenches on our difficulty meter because it will be that plug-and-play installation with a very simple LED light bulb swap. The Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit in the Plug-and-Play finish will be for any '96 to '04 Mustang owner who's looking to pick up a little bit more modernized styling for the rear end with the Sequential Kit, and a cleaner, brighter, more attractive look with the LED bulb swap. Sequential tail light harnesses are becoming a pretty popular item for almost any generation of Mustang, excluding the fox body and back. Now the '96 to '04 Mustang still do have that tri-bar tail light design, and of course, the incandescent bulbs that come along with those can be, you know, good enough but they're not exactly the most stylish, they're not the brightest, they're not the cleanest, so this one will have the LED bulbs, and in addition to that, the sequential harness to give it that one modern feel and a more attractive finish. To give you a bit more detail on the sequencer here, they'll plug directly into each light bulb or obviously the LEDs of course, and then into your factory housing, and then back to the vehicle's wiring harness on the other end. This'll basically cause the tail lights to blink in that sequential pattern. Now if you don't know what I mean exactly, basically, the innermost light will blink first, then the middle, and then the outer light blinking in that order depending on which way you're turning. Now this will also work with your hazard lights which a lot of people might not know. So obviously, when you turn your hazard lights on, they'll blink in that pattern, obviously, until you shut them off, and they'll even work with your brake lights. Now when you're coming up to a stop sign, if you're stopping in traffic, or if you're coming up to a red light, once you hit that brake light, they will blink in that sequential pattern and hold there for as long as you have that brake peddle [SP] pressed in. Just to shift over a little bit to these LEDs again, these will be a direct fit replacement for your factory incandescent bulbs. They'll fit directly into your factory housing and snap perfectly into the sequencer we have here. This will be just a brighter, more attractive finish for the lights, replacing that incandescent bulb which can be a little bit dull, let's be honest. All of this is mentioned to fit the '96 to '04 Mustangs, but I also wanna point out that all of this will work for the '94, '95 Mustangs as long as you're working with a '96 tail light. Now I have a '95 Mustang myself but I do have the '96 tail lights installed. If that's the case, it will fit as long as you have '96 to '04 tail lights. Now if you're interested in getting the sequencers and the LED tail lights together, Raxiom has created this kit as you can see here for just about 200 bucks. Now to some people, it might sound like a lot for just some wires and some bulbs, but LED conversions run about a 100 bucks themselves and then the tail light harnesses we have here, another $100, $150, so you are saving yourself some money getting everything together. If you're looking to pick up some new bulbs and you like the styling of this, this kit is gonna be perfect for you. Now like I said in the very beginning, the install is something almost anybody can take care of. It gets a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter because it is gonna be a direct plug-and-play install like Raxiom has built them to be. Now all you'll have to do is pop open your trunk and push out the way that trunk liner to gain access to the backend of your tail lights. Now not necessarily have to remove them, but of course, it will make it a little bit easier on you if you did. Now if you don't remove 'em, that's, of course, okay, all you would have to do is twist out those old incandescent bulbs, replace them with the LEDs since they are a snap in option, or you can just put them right into the sequencer housing here. Once you twist these into the housing, it'll be as simple as plugging this into your vehicle's wiring harness to get the job done. Repeat that for the opposite side and you're good to go. Overall, it's a very simple light bulb swap and a very simple plug-and-play installation, which it gets a one outta three wrenches on our difficulty meter and about an hour's worth of time in the driveway at home. Just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a '96 to '04 Mustang, excluding the '99 to '01 Cobra, you might be interested in a more modernized styling for the rear end, especially your tail lights, while also getting a cleaner-looking bulb. If that's the case, you might wanna check out the Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit in the Plug-and-Play finish, which of course is available right here at

Retro Styling. Add some retro inspired styling to your SN95 or New Edge Mustang quickly and easily with a set of Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Lights. Sequential tail lights were used on the Shelby Mustangs from 1968 to 1970 and now you can have them for your modern pony from Raxiom.

Sequential. When activated, the turn signals or hazard lights will sequence from the center light out and repeat until switched off. When the brakes are applied, the tail lights will sequence once and then stay lit during braking.

Modern Electronics. The Raxiom Sequential Tail light Kit is assembled from state of the art electronic components with a simple plug-in connector that easily inserts into the stock wiring harness. This kit includes (2) inline harnesses, (1) turn signal flash modifier and (6) LED bulbs.

Added Safety. Replace those weak stock bulbs with numerous high intensity LED's that illuminate quicker and brighter than standard incandescent bulbs with a Raxiom LED Sequential Kit to improve your driving safety.

Easy Installation. Raxiom's LED Sequential Tail light Kit is a direct plug-in replacement for the stock wiring harness. Simply unplug the stock harness and plug in the new sequential harness in it's place, it's that easy.

Application. The Raxiom LED Sequential Tail light Kit is designed to fit the 1996 to 2004 V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 as well as 1996-1998 and 2003-2004 SVT Cobra Mustangs with the triple red tail lights. Not compatible with LED replacement taillights or on SVT Cobras with the rear amber turn signals.

Technical Note. A Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher, which is required for proper operation, is included.

Super easy to put together, it was very fast though so you could barely tell that it was sequential so I had to take the leds out and use regular bulbs for now until I buy the plug.

Just bought raxiom icon LED tail lights . Will sequential kit work with them ?

  • The sequential kit will be able to work with the Icon LED tail lights. You will need to purchase the Raxiom V2 modified turn signal modifier (item #388878) as well to accommodate the LED lights.

I want to order the Raxiom LED Taillights. They are set up for standard incandescent bulbs. Is this the other part of the equation I need to get the centers to be LED as well? If not, what parts do I need to order?

  • The Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit - Plug-and-Play (96-04 All; Excludes 99-01 Cobra) would be what you need to complete the conversion of your tail lights to LEDs. This kit will come with the Raxiom Sequential Tail Light Kit - Plug-and-Play item #49143, Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher V2 - LED item #388878, and 6 LED bulbs.

I really wanna order the Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit but I'm a bit worried about some of the reviews. They work flawlessly for some and others seems to be having major problems with the sequential affect. Ive even seen You Tube videos of people not being able to get them working in their cars...ever! One review mentioned they wont work without resistors. If that's the case, why don't they come with the resistors? And what are the resistors and what do they do? Are they sold on the AM site? If I need them will I be charged? What could be causing all these issues for people? Thanks!

  • Resistors are what makes a difference in power. LED bulbs will draw less power, so installing them will make your car think they are out, and thus it will probably mess up your wiring and electric components.

Can these be set up like "classic designs" model that does not sequence the brake light. i.e. when you step on the brake the lights do not sequence, all 3 go on at the same time. Thanks, Dave

  • Hi, This Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit - Plug-and-Play only has one flashing style, To have a stock style you will need to reinstall you factory harness.

    Chris J

Can I purchased the bulbs themselves? I purchased my standard kit for 139. I wanted to get LED bulbs but now I see you have the LED kit as a new item.

  • Yes, if you already have the standard sequential harnesses, you can buy the LED conversion kit to complement them. Please check out the link below!

Love It, Love It, Love it!

My husband bought me these tail lights for my birthday present and I couldn't be happier. My 2000 Mustang GT looks so cool now, did I mention that I am a grandma to 3 beautiful baby girls? I go by the name, "Grandma Giggles" and my pony, Mustang, is a big part of my book series, Grandma Giggles: Stories From the Heart. You will see me sporting around in my pony with the top down and my 3 little white Maltese's around town. P.S. Just a little hint when installing these lights. The 2000 mustangs have 1 screw in the tail lights that is glued on each side. This one screw will have to be pulled away from the tail light casing with extreme force. We actually went to an auto discount to have it removed or else just get under the screw with a putty knife and PULL.

    Disappointed Buyer

This product isn't ready to be sold. Won't work right when your lights are on they won't seguence just flicker. I put my incandescent bulbs back in and works good but had to buy the modified flasher for incandescent bulbs to slow it down looks great now. Most reviews all say the same thing . So why sell something expensive that you know won't work?

Same as what I have already read. I wished I paid more attention to the complants. they DO NOT work with running lights on and today realize my dash and radio go on and off in normal condition without lights on???? It seems this should be addressed before they continue to advertise these without a warning of multiple problems. LIKE the reviews state!!! disappointment for sure.

    Sequential LED tail lights

The sequential LED taillights worked, however, the sequencer reducer module still didn't slow down the sequencing as much as their standard module. When your high beams are on, they do not sequence at all. The only work around would be to keep two incandescent bulbs (one for each side) and use two LEDs on each side; in addition to using the Non-LED sequence reducer module. This tricks the system voltage/wattage by making it think no bulbs are out (due to the lower requirements from the LEDs). Then sequencing would work with high beams on.

    Did not work properly.

Tried two sets of these kits for my 02 GT. Both did not sequentially flash when I turned on my tail lights. Units would only flash properly when the tail lights were off. After returning both sets, I opted for a full refund. Not sure if I would try another set.

    Pretty cool

The led's are cool and bright, but not worth $100. The sequentials are cool, but they are only sequential when your lights are off. If I would've known before, I wouldn't have spent the money on this kit

    Awesome Upgrade

This is a super cool cosmetic upgrade! The sequentials are cool, but if you do it i highly recommend doing it with the LEDs, they make it more crisp and bright! Easy install and a way to keep your 10+ yr old car looking modern!

Not bad but simply comes up short...

I Purchased this for my 04 Mach 1 and while the LED upgrade is nice looking with its instant on and off effect of new late model cars have, it just simply comes up short on expectations! Install was super easy and just have to make sure the led bulbs are installed correctly, meaning polarity is a 50/50 shot of inserting bulbs correctly. SO DONT put lights back together until you test to make sure everything lights up or you'll waste alot of time pulling everything back apart! With all lights working properly and LED flasher unit installed under the dash, everything appears great!! Well until you turn on your headlights or parkers! The SEQUENTIAL lights DO NOT WORK!!!!! All three lights blink at the same time! REALLY!!?? That's extremely frustrating to say the least, i mean whats the point in having SEQUENTIAL TAIL LIGHTS if they DO NOT WORK with your head lights on!! Just makes NO sense really at all!! Otherwise WITHOUT your lights on, the sequential works great and looks great as well! Then my next issue is that the other day my wife was behind me and snapped a picture to show me that this setup along with RAXIOM's tinted taillights, you almost cant see the lights through them in daylight conditions!!! She said she almost rear-ended me till she noticed my 3rd light lit up because she couldn't see my brake lights!! I DID NOT have that issue with the Raxiom incandescent sequential bulb setup prior to these being installed!! So long story short, i'm going back to the old school sequential bulb set up because for the money, IMO these LED upgrade setup is virtually pointless and a waste of money!

    Great Product With Some Problems

The tail lights sequence perfectly with parking and headlights off. But when brake pedal is pressed, digital odometer blinks on and off. When lights are on, tail lights do not sequence, all three lights blink at the same time, just as OEM turn signal. Also LED bulbs are a bit tricky to install as they only work when oriented correctly in the socket--polarity is important.

would NOT buy the led sequential

just like one of the other reviews this harness does not work on my car. this is the SECOND harness i have gotten and it still does not work properly. I think Raxiom is just not making a good product. the turn signal will not sequence when the parking lights are on nor will the brake lights sequence when the parking lights are on. the special flasher AM sells from Raxiom is no good either. it will flash at different speeds depending whether or not the parking lights are on. it just seems that this harness just completely jacks up the electrical system. and yes since this is the second harness i have tried i had the system tested and all checks fine. One more thing is that when the seq. harness is plugged in my Raxiom led third brake light comes on when the parking lights are on. does not happen when stock harness is plugged in. just another thing that the seq. harness messes with. Bottom line is i would NOT buy this seq. harness because it causes so many problems. Not worth the money!

Awesome idea, not working in my car

I purchased the Raxiom LED Sequential Tail Light Kit for my 2003 Cobra convertible. Installation was quick and easy. Everything was plug and play as promised. Once I installed the kit and it worked awesomely....until I turned on the running lamps and then the head lamps. I turn on the hazards/turn signals with the head lights and/or running lamps off and the kit works beautifully. I love it. I turn the head lights and/or running lamps on and the tail lights function precisely as they do with conventional bulbs (solid blinking, not sequential). Another issue I noticed on the drive to work this morning....when my headlights and running lamps are off, when I step on the brakes, the digital odometer and radio face go black. The radio, speedo, tach, heat/A/C work fine, those specific lights go dark. Turn on the head lights and/or running lamps, no issue with anything going dark. So I pulled the LEDs out and put the conventional bulbs back in. Everything works the way it is suppose to work. Tail lights sequence with lights on or off. I do not want this to sound like a one sided conversation. The customer service reps at American Muscle have been nothing but helpful. They have sent replacement bulbs and a flasher at no cost to me. The next step is to send entirely new wiring harnesses, which they are offering to do again at no cost to me. I cannot say a negative thing about AM. I also appreciate their customer service reps and the late hours they are available is greatly appreciated by me and my weird work hours. I know the chances of two wiring harnesses being corrupt is low so I have had the car's electronics checked and it passes. I hope it is simply the harnesses and it fixes the problem because when it works it is beautiful to watch operate!

Good as long as you have the resistors

This kit is great, it fits perfectly, instructions are good. The only issue I had was the kit doesn't come with resistors which it needs to function properly and there is no mention that it doesn't come with them. After calling AM they shipped me a set of resistors free of charge but they should at least mention in the listing that they aren't included.

Raxiom LED Sequential tail light kit

Easy install looks really good but on my car the sequential lights do not work when the regular lights are on. During the day the blinkers flash sequentially but at night when you turn on the headlights and tail lights that sequential action does not carry over. I switched to the incandescent kit and it works beautifully. It's possible it could be the fact I have a 1994 car switching over to sequential but I'm not sure.
