Description
Protection. Royal Purple Max ATF is a full synthetic transmission fluid that provides superior wear protection for your Mustang's drivetrain. Max ATF's unique formula keeps your automatic transmission's delicate internals clean and operating at peak efficiency for long transmission life. It provides outstanding rust and corrosion protection for peace of mind. Use Royal Purple Max ATF on your Mustang's next fluid change for the cheapest insurance you can get against future transmission breakdowns.

Better Shifts. If your transmission is shifting slowly, roughly, or loudly but is mechanically fine, a fresh fill of Max ATF can help smooth things back out. If you have a new Mustang or transmission, changing your fluid to Max ATF can keep your transmission working better - both now and later.

Resists Breakdown. Under challenging conditions like stop-and-go traffic or racing your transmission can build up a lot of heat which causes fluid breakdown. Royal Purple Max ATF is more resistant to breakdown than other brands and will keep your transmission cooler, ensuring your Mustang will keep running right.

Application. Max ATF® is recommended for all transmissions requiring Ford Mercon® or GM Dexron® III transmission fluids. This includes the automatic as well as the manual transmissions in late model Mustangs. Five (5) quarts are required for a regular transmission maintenance flush.

What about the torque convertor?? How do you get the Mercon V out of the torque convertor at home? There is no drain plug on some and you cant mix the two types of fluid. Also how many quarts do you need when torque convertor is empty? Thank You!

  • Although it is preferable to remove as much existing ATF as possible when replacing it, you do not necessarily have to worry about mixing a little bit of Mercon with Max ATF. This statement is directly from Royal Purple's catalog.... "Max ATF is fully compatible and can be mixed with other automatic transmission fluids; however, for the best results drain or flush the current oil and then fill with Max ATF." http://www.royalpurpleconsumer.com/assets/catalog/2014_Royal_Purple_Catalog_112113.pdf

    Excellent ATF

I run this ATF in several vehicles, both automatics and manuals that specify the use of ATF. In manuals I've noticed much smoother shifting, but the fluid tends to "wear out" and needs to be replaced after 30-40K, if ran past this point you may experience slight grinding or difficulty shifting. In automatics this fluid has saved transmissions, I had a relative come to me with a slipping trans filled with varnish, after several fluid exchanges with Royal Purple ATF all the varnish had been dissolved and the trans is still shifting great 60K later. This ATF also gave my transmissions firmer shifts, cooler temps, and just gave them a better all over feel while driving.

    Good trans fluid

Royal purple makes a good product. I run the oil in my engine and as soon as I was due for a trans flush I put this in. I can't say that I've noticed any major performance gain. However I have had it smooth out issues in older cars and allowed me to squeeze more life from them. So I know this will help me keep my stang going for many miles.

    great std trans oil

the best oil out there. definetily makes a difference . when installing oil back into trans the best way to do it is to fill a suction gun up with trans fluid and push the oil out of the suction gun into the trans fill hole . it is the easiest and the fastest way to do it.
