The below installation instructions work for the following products:
Please read through the instructions carefully before starting this project. Take the time to get all the materials together as well as all the safety equipment.
Tools needed:
- Hardware Kit (Comes w/ the Louvers)
- Paper Towel
- Water
- Screwdriver
- Felt Tip Pen
- Hair Dryer (Optional)
Installation:
- First of all, you need to clean the rear window surface where you will be installing the louver very carefully. You can do this with just a tower paper and some water. Let the area dry completely before continuing.
- Attach the hinge plates, provided in the hardware kit, to the rear louver. Tie down the thumb nuts with a screwdriver.
- Now it’s time to pre-fit the rear louver onto the glass. After pre-fitting, use a felt tip pen to mark the locations where you will be mounting the hinge plates with the 3M tape attached to it.
- Remove the red strips of the 3M tape that are attached to the hinge plates and carefully attach them to the rear windshield, making sure they fall right on the locations you marked before with the felt-tip pen. Apply pressure to it to strengthen the bond between glass and adhesive.
- Remove the louver from glass, leaving the hardware attached. Now, get a hair dryer (see picture below) and dry the 3M tape hinge plates attached to window for a couple of minutes, to make sure the bond stays tight.
- Finally, make sure to wait at least 30 minutes, to achieve a fully cured bond to the glass. Then just re-install the louver and secure it with a screwdriver.
