Description
Improve ET's and low end torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your Pony. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use.

Complete Kit. This Ford Racing Gear and Installation Kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes Ring gear, Pinion gear, 1 bottle of Friction Modifier, 2 bottles of 75w90 Gear Oil, gaskets, seals, shims, bearings and all the required hardware.

Legendary Ford Racing Quality. When you're adding performance parts to your Pony, you can't go wrong by installing parts from the folks that know it best. Ford Racing's legendary quality ensures years of hassle-free use.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Speedometer Gear, a Ford Racing Speedometer Recalibration Tool or a Bama SF3/X3 Power Flash Tuner is a quick and easy way to fix this issue.

Application. This Ford Racing 4.10 Rear Gear and Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in solid rear axle equipped Mustangs, including the GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and 1994-1998 SVT Cobra. It will not fit the 1999-2004 IRS equipped Cobra Mustangs.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

  • Yes - you would want to add both bottles of Royal Purple as well as the full bottle of friction modifier. Hope this helps!

    Ford racing 4.10 Gears

First of all I got to say that i'm very impressed with the performance difference that I felt over the stock gears. Rolling in first and stomp the gas and leave rubber, getting sideways through second gear and chirping third! Makes a big difference. Should be the first mod anyone does! There also not bad on the highway. In town my gas mileage has actually gone up 1 to 2 miles per gallon. Well if I can keep of the gas pedal!! Well anyways if your looking at this take my word and get these 4.10 gears you won't be disappointed.

    4.10!

I have a 94 Cobra and the 4.10 gears made it a beast. Quick acceleration for sure. I would recommend this being your first mod.

    Noticeable Gain Off The Line

These gears have a noticeable gain over the stock 3.55's. You'll pull harder off the line and hit the redline faster. My low-tech 0-60 measurements (stopwatch) were about 1/2 second faster with the 4.10 gears. My 80mph rpms went from ~2400 to ~2800. It runs a little louder on the highway, but that's just fine by me. Driven easy, the mpg change could be minimal, although I've seen 1-2mpg drop (because I drive her hard everywhere I go). I had a local performance shop install the gears, which really took their time to make sure there was no noise after install. You should be able to find a place to install these for ~$300-600. Highly recommended, should go really nicely with a set of cams...which is next for me!

    Great product for the price

I originally had the 3.73 gears and decided to upgrade to the 4.10s. Ever since the upgrade I've noticed the car handles a lot better when I get on the gas. It's a great product and I'd recomend to any mustang owner.

    Good to Go!

Kit comes with everything you need. Very happy move from 3.73 to the 4.10. My procharged Mach1 hits boost sooner now and was exactly what I was looking for. This is my second set of Ford Racing gears now on this car and couldn't be happier. No knocking, winding or any noise at all. Thanks AM

    acceleration just keeps pulling

After a lot of other mods, I finally did the rear end. It should have been one of the first things I did. My car easily spins 295 tires in 3rd. As far as installation, I work at a shop and this kit had everything I needed. One of the best kit I have installed. The 4:10s are perfect for street and track. If you drive a lot of freeway daily, I would go with the 3:73s. Very happy with these gears.

    4:10 gears

The gears were a welcome addition to the cams, headers and BAMA tune. Having switched from 3:73 to the 4:10's I Havent notices any gas mileage as I am always in it right now enjoying the added pick up. 3rd gear in town is like having an automatic. No need to keep changing. Highly recomended

    Good kit for the money

For the money you can't beat the kit. Most of the time they don't come with axle bearings and seals. This one does, as well as it all being ford stuff. Fit was solid, and I have only a minor backlash issue however my particular rearend proved to be a bit difficult for setting it up. If you don't have the tools get someone to install it for you, however this kit is a serious money saver.
