Review & Install Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with, taking a look at a mod that’s sure to freshen up the front end of your New Edge Mustang, while adding the aggressive stylings of a smoked headlight, talking about these smoked projector headlights for all 99-04 Mustangs. These headlights feature a quality black housing with a dark smoke lens for a stealthy, aggressive appearance. They also feature the sleek modern stylings of a true projector headlamp which not only look killer, but also improve your night time visibility as well. Overall the kit should install in roughly two hours using standard hand tools, however if you do encounter problems or need some assistance you can always reference the install video located on this page. Remember whenever you install a new set of headlights you want to make sure they’re adjusted properly so you’re getting the best vision possible without blinding oncoming traffic. All you’ve got to do is follow the aiming procedure located in the install video on this page. So if you’re looking to put the new back in New Edge Mustang, you’ll definitely want to check out these smoked projector headlights for your ride.

Clear Lenses? Can these be ordered in clear lenses? I have a 8K HID P&P Kit i'd love to add to these but the tint turns them green.

  • The other alternative to these Smoked Projectors are the Chrome Projectors and they have a clear lens. Check out the link below!

Can or will these headlights be able to be used with an HID or LED kit? If not, what would be the reasoning? Thanks!

HID kit Can I install my HID light kit on this set of headlights? I like the way these headlights look and would consider buying. I have a pair of after market HID kit with a plug and play adapters and the bulbs are 30000k Bulbs( the color of the light is violet).

  • You should have no problem installing a set of aftermarket HIDs into these lights. We've had lots of customers do it without any issue.

    Black Projector Headlights

Look really good in my car...03 Mustang GT...very bright at night...very easy installation, pull two pins and the headlight slides right out. Haven't had to change any bulbs yet, so I can't comment on that. I see others are saying the low beams are horrible, I don't know I must have been lucky cause my low beams are very bright and my high beams light up the whole road, and are really bright.

    Not a good replacement

Installation in the car was fine with a little effort, but replacing the bulbs is nearly impossible. I've had these in for a few months now. The lights were manufactured incorrectly with the high beam and low beam reflectors in the opposite locations. The low beam buld should be the one with the wire pigtail attached. That would give you a chance at replacement. Alignment is totally off since the low beam does not align with the high beam. Not at all what I wanted or expected.

    Black Projector Headlights

I just finished the install of these lights. The good, I will say they look very nice on my car. The bad, very disappointed in product documentation, and lack of instructional materials provided for install. Zero information contained in package for installation, the website video is uninformative at best. The lights came pre-installed with bulbs and the HIGH beam are almost impossible to change out. I was able to replace the low beams, with replacement bulbs 8k. As another reviewer has mentioned the flush fit of the lights required modifying, actually removing the plastic pin cups, I didn't try that, but will later. I had to use a dremel tool to make clearance for the backplate to fit correctly. Overall, great looks with the lights, but extremely unhappy with the available installation materials, which didn't exist.

    Noticably Dimmer

Since I live in a pretty dense City, I haven't been able to use the brights other than in my garage. When they're on "regular" mode though, they are noticably dimmer than the original factory lamps. That said, they are bright enough and they look freakin' cool (which is WAY MORE IMPORTANT than blinding headlamps), so I'm ok with them. I may swap out the bulbs for something brighter if necessary in the future, but the housing wins in my opinion, because they walk the line between "old school" and the full-on "nutty professor HID projector goggles" I almost bought.

    03 Mach 1

If your mustang is a few years old and you think the headlights might be peeling, or scuffed or delaminating, they are and these are great upgrades at better than OEM prices. The difference is clear and very noticeable. 1.If you dont know how to seal your lights watch the video. Do your fog lights also if you havent already blown bulbs due the fishbowl effect. 2. use multiple strips of 2" packing tape to cover the fresh silicone so you can install immediately. 3. Use the old 1157 TS bulb if you dont want to wait for the trip to the store, the H1 and H3 purchase is not necessary immediately as the new units came with bulbs installed. Plug and play. Negative: The new light assemblies are not made to exacting specs, they dont fit totally perfect, and so the retainer clips have to be slightly forced in. We'll see if this causes breaking of the slots later

    eh they're ok

I loved the smoked look and the high beams are really bright. The low beams are terrible and even worse when it rains. So if it's dark and rainy, vision is almost zero : The high beams are near impossible to reach though so I havent been able to change them out.

    could go both ways

i have a cobra and a gt. buy two sets of these and unless you have a cobra bumper, they don't look good. i would not tell anyone with a gt to purchase these... check out the pictures, with the cobra bumper (circle for lights) it goes well. but with the GT bumper it looks tacky. i removed the after 5 minutes..

    Smoked Projector Headlights

Fit and look great on my car. Visibility isn't the greatest for the low beams but the high beams work great. I use the high beams at night to drive, I may still try to adjust the lows up a lot more. Light bulbs are so easy to change out, took less than 10 minutes. Headlights themselves were easy to change out. Overall, I really like them on my 2001 mustang.

    Nothing Extra!

These headlights look amazing! Just upgraded from the dark smoked headlights and can't believe how much the visibility has improved. The best part is you get all the performance of a projector headlight and keep that aggressive muscle car styling without all the accent LED's or the halo around your bulb. Thanks AM for providing such a great product! P.S. just take your time with the high beam bulb. I pulled it out and put it back in to see what all the fuss was about and as long as you take your time its not hard at all. Remove the electrical wire from the bulb first, un-latch the hook holding the bulb in (its on a hinge), and slowly take the bulb out.
