By: Andrew Cilio The Ford Mustang underwent its fourth major revision in 1994. The Fox-4 platform was tweaked and altered to be stronger, stiffer, and better at soaking up noise and vibration. Tweaks include larger rocker panels, roof rails, and stronger joints. The hatchback body style was discontinued, but the coupe and convertible remained. The internal Ford designation for the new body style was SN95.

The Mustang's styling was majorly updated in 1994. The car became much more aerodynamic. The low-slung, sensuous shape broke sharply with the harsh lines and straight edges of the old Foxes. The grill pony returned in 1994.

The powertrain options for 1994 did not change considerably from the previous year. The base engine was a 3.8L V6 which produced 145 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 215 ft-lbs of torque at 3200 rpm. The GT came with a 302 cubic inch (5.0L) V8 which produced 215 horsepower at 4200 rpm and 285 ft-lbs of torque at 3400 rpm. The Cobra had a 5.0L V8 which produced 240 horsepower at 4800 rpm and 285 ft-lbs of torque at 4000 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, but an optional four-speed automatic was available.
