Do shorty headers or long headers fit best in the space that the stock 2007 V6 exhaust was?

  • Hello! The BBK Ceramic Tuned Length Shorty Headers would be a closer fit to the factory headers than long tube headers would be.

Does BBK offer longtube ceramic headers for my 2009 mustang 4.0L 5 speed manual transmission? I cannot find a good source for them. BBK is an awesome source for the 2009 4.0L Mustang, so I am not sure why I cannot find them.

  • BBK does not offer a long tube header for the 4.0L V6. The BBK Ceramic Tuned Length Shorty Headers is the only ceramic option they offer.

i'm looking to buy a set of headers? but im wondering which will add more flow for more power and torque the short or long headers

  • Long tube headers would provide more flow and power than short tube headers.

HP? Looking to buy these and i already have a tuner and i am wondering if i had these added to my custom tunes about how much horsepower could i look to get out of these then?

  • Depends on your tune. But for my tunes depending on which ones i run i get 8-12 horsepower gains.

    V6 headers

I really like the headers on my mustang. The installation was very rough. The passenger side headers didn't exactly fit.

    Way more than expected

These BBK shorty hearts are great! I was unsure about buying them at first, because of the mixed reviews, but I ended up biting the bullet and bought them. WOW! I could not be happier, there is a noticeable difference in hp and a improvement in sound. The sound isn't too loud but just perfect, comparable to a v8 sound.

Nice Headers but you will need to make Modifications

On my 2010 V6 Mustang I had to remove and cut a bracket on each side of the engine to get the headers on. On driver side you will have to trim the distributor bracket and on the passenger side you will have to trim the heater hose bracket. On both sides the part that hits is the large bolt. the bracket and the bolt hit the header and need to be modified before you can snug the headers and the bracket back up.

    BBK - A Winner

The Pypes shorty headers we installed five years ago developed leaks along a weld. After failed attempts replacing them with two sets JBA shorty headers... these BBK headers accepted the EGR tube like a glove. They look and so great on the true-dual exhaust with GT mufflers. Wife says she feels a little extra power. Thanks AM

    Bad to Install

The headers are awesome and sound great! But got messed up in shipping so had leaks, took 3 days to get overnight delivery. Then the stock flanges didn't fit so that was more money spent. Didn't expect this to be such a project.

    Great buy, look great!

If you are looking for a good set of headers for your 05-10 V6 Mustang then look no further! These are a decent price and look great. And with the ceramic coating you can't go wrong! The shop that put them on along with my dual exhaust said it was an easy install. Only issue was getting all the bolts to line up, but that is expected with headers. They were able to get them on correctly and easily and they look and sound great!

    changes the tone.

these headers have stayed looking good and run cooler then the old manifolds. Also they changed my exhaust note for a deeper sound, defiantly a good buy.

If you're wondering why you should pay an extra $110 for these headers then let me tell you why. Consider the fact that your headers are going to be the hottest part of your car, except for the engine. Unlike chrome, the ceramic coating is FAR more resistant to the wear and tear of constant heating and cooling and will save you from lots of headaches and wasted money down the road when you encounter cracks in your headers. The chrome headers will become very brittle after after a short time and will lose their beautiful shine almost instantly where as the ceramic headers will keep their sparkle indefinitely and maintain their integrity. THE ONLY TIME THAT CHROME SHOULD BE USED ON AN EXHAUST SYSTEM IS ON THE TIPS. My advice is not to try and save a buck with cheaper parts. Do it right the first time and go ceramic. :) For performance, these bad boys sure did help! Especially with a custom tune from Bama. As for sound I didn't notice any difference in sound except for a tiny bit in the upper RPM's (3000+). However, I attribute that mostly to the fact that I have an on-road X-pipe which tends to really dampen the sound a lot BUT does give a significant boost to performance. Keep on winning, my friends! ;-)

    Looks great

My installer had to make a few modification to the flange on the drivers side to get the headers to fit. Also the flangs were warped but not so bad I needed to get them resurfaced.

Didn't Quite Fit, But Still Good Headers!

I had these headers installed by the local shop because I don't trust myself to install something like that on my own. After getting my car back, the guy that put these on stated that they were NOT an exact, direct replacement for the stock headers. He did need to make some small modifications and there was a bolt that could not be put back into one of the brackets because the new header and gasket were covering them. I also have a Pypes true dual exhaust kit on my car, and he needed to pull the driver side of the X-pipe up closer to the car, causing it to rattle against the bottom of the car at slower speeds (10-30mph). These do look really nice under the hood and I did not notice any sound difference. There was a definite increase in power too. I would recommend that you have a shop install the headers and also warn them about the issues that I had with it. If they are able to get them to fit and fix the exhaust issue, then these are well worth the money...just not the time to install them yourself.

    this product has good looks

these headers do what they say if you buy them know that the only thing you have to do extra is to knoch the two brakets in front of each header so you may what to use a shop other wise the look and work great. I could only give a good on the fit because the copany should have made the header with the knoch in mind.

    Looks great

Thought about installing myself. I am not afraid to tear into anything if I have all the required tools to do a job. No way on these. At 51 years old, this would have been too long on the ground under the car for me. Flange needed gringing as on the chrome BBK headers. Pull left manifold with EGR tube still on, much easyer. If I had a lift, I would have gone for it myself, but for $200 I let the shop do it. Took them about four hours to compete. Little better sound from under the hood and tail pipes. As for performance, can't say forsure, no dyno after install. I would buy them again and would recomend.

    Flow mo!

These headers are the best! you get a very nice sound with the ceramics as well as a nice look under the hood. The power gain is pretty good but in order to truely get the flow with these you should run true dual exhausts.

Quality you can see and feel.

The BBK shorty header is well made and fits great. It took about 4 hours to swap out with the original manifolds with common hand tools and no modifications. The look is awsome with the ceramic finish. Coupled with a cold air intake and true duel exhaust this really wakes up the 4.0. I would highly suggest this as one of the first modifications to your Mustang.

    exhaust leak

cheap gaskets provided, but the bigger picture, it does not fit well with my stock y-pipe. one month after installation, and both myself and professionals worked on fixing the exhaust link on the drivers side between the collector and the y-pipe, i'm reinstalling the stock manifolds.

    Excellent sound and performance

These headers gave an excellent tone to my V6. They really awakened some horsepower that was lost because of the garbage stock headers. Couldn't recommend BBK or these headers more!
