Does the carpet come cut already or will I have to cut it to fit my 2000 mustang convertible?

  • No. The carpet is not pre cut, but it is pre molded. Suggest that you place the old carpet on top or underneath in order to cut the holes for the center console.

Good quality carpet, especially for the price. Molded carpet fits nearly as well as factory. Trim carefully under the middle of dash on the transmission tunnel. Easy to make a mistake there. Once you get the seats, console and seat belts installed it lays down nice.

    Looks GREAT!

I was skeptical about replacing my carpet but after having a idiot spill half a quart of rear gear oil on the passenger side carpet it HAD TO HAPPEN! the smell was disgusting. The carpet unrolled and unfolded almost into form 10 mins of bending and it took shape pretty well... After stripping the old carpet i started to notice that a lot of mods and cutting was gong to be involved. the carpet needs a lot of cutting. The centre console especially. Overall however i am very happy. It took about 4 hours for a total novice to do it and its settled very well. Make sure you cut the pedal area well. Also make sure the seat bolt holes are well cleared because i stripped 2 of the bolts reinstalling the seats. The padding prevents it from threading 100$%. But new bolts are pretty easy to find. Also be VERY careful when ironing... This carpet will melt VERY easily.

factory carpet is better at any price

i was happy with shipping [ including my reurning it]. the fit was bad ,the molded in mat on the driver side foot well was also crooked. i bought a ford carpet and will NEVER buy an after market like this again... i dont put new carpet in a beater car, so if my car is above average condition then the parts i buy and use have to be also.

    Good product, a little pricey

I bought my carpet from american muscle a week ago and got it today ( I dont know what all the hype is about AM shipping fast), I ordered floor mats with it and they were supposed to be here today to but I think UPS lost it. Anyway I got the carpet, pulled it out of the box, and it was not molded or cut. I laid some weights on it to try and flatten it out. Got the old carpet out, and let me tell you, if you are not patient, this is not for you, I started at 5pm and finished at 2 am. There was so much ironing and cutting. Cutting holes was the hardest part. and when you do this make sure you get it right, if you mess up to bad in certain areas, its a 130 dollar mistake. Anyways I got it in, put all the panels back on and seats and it does look good. If you have the money have someone else do it, my back hurts from crawling in and out of the car for 9 hours.

The replacement carpet was great. Though I thought it was very thin. I actually think it would be cool to offer insulation with the product, like dina mat or something to reduce cabin noise. I actually had to buy insulation and redo the entire job over. That was an oversight on my behalf. I think it wouldnt hurt to suggest insulation to your customers when they are buying carpets, I think they would really appreciate it. I would. Thanks

    Easier in than out

This was the first time I ever installed a new carpet in any car. I would have had it done in a few hours had it not been for the rainfall, but I do recommend that everyone try this at least once, especially if you are interested in restoring or customizing their Mustang. Only draw back, that it is not pre cut. Measure twice and cut once is the rule I followed very closely.

    Black replacement carpet

I have bought a lot of products from American Muscle, and usually enjoy getting my products from here, and will continue to do so, but I was not happy with this carpet. I have bought and installed carpets in my previous vehicles (Honda Civic, Dodge Dakota) and were happy with them (not from American Muscle) so I am familiar with replacement carpets. This material was not "up to grade" as I thought it would be. It was not "pre-molded" as much as other carpets have been, so it was struggle getting this carpet to work. If I had bought this at a store close by I would have taken it back. I hope American Muscle will maybe take a second look at the Manufacturer of this carpet, because there are better products out there.

    not molded correctly

I bought this carpet just to change the color from medium graphite to black. The actual carpet pile is very black and feels alot better then the oem. The problem is the mold I had a professional trimmer help me install it, it turned out good but by far perfect. You will spend alot of time trying to get it to fit like the factory but it will never work. We used a number of things like spray glue, extra padding its just not right there will be alot of cutting to do and after all still air pockets due to the mold. Don't get me wrong it will look good but im very picky and am not happy with the end result. Black carpet has been discontinued for these vehicles so luckily my oem carpet is in perfect shape so im gonna have it dyed black. Did a test spot already and after it dried looks great...hope this helps good luck.

Review from Replacement Floor Carpet - Dark Charcoal (94-04 All)

    Just Doesn't Fit

This is one of the very few products I have purchased from AM that turned out to be a disappointment. After reading previous reviews, it was sort of a mixed bag, so I decided to take a chance, and the price was good. Once the carpet arrived, we spread it out in the garage for about a week. It flattened out nicely, and looked pretty good. However, it appeared to be pretty thin. You could actually see through the carpet anywhere it was creased. Once we removed the old carpet from the car, it was immediately obvious that this was a much thinner and lighter carpet than the OEM carpet. It was still less than half the price of OEM carpet, so that was not too surprising. The real issue came when we put it in the car. There is no way to test fit it, without cutting it, so once you start the installation process there is no turning back. It was quickly apparent that it simply did not fit. We have done everything from leather upholstery, custom shift and e-brake boots, and custom installed sound system on the interior, to full suspension and paint on the outside, so we are pretty good with making things work, and work well on the SN95. This carpet however defeated us. It was just not the standard of product we put in the car. If your carpet is totally trashed, and you are on a budget, this may not be a bad option. It will cover up the floor. The color is good, and the carpet itself looks nice. The heel pad is pretty much like the OEM, but overall the carpet will not fit the same. Also be aware that you cannot test fit it without cutting it. Once you do that there is no returning it. On the upside, my son and I had a good time working on it together, and we got a good chuckle out of our carpet skills. Maybe a professional shop could make it work, but this is a tough one for the weekend warrior. Even fairly well accomplished ones. In the end we just patched up the old carpet, and put it back.

Review from Replacement Floor Carpet - Dark Charcoal (94-04 All)

    Good Product

The carpet is well worth price. The carpet comes too big on the sides where the pedals are and a little slim where the sill plates are but you can make it work. Took me the afternoon to install and that was taking everything out and measuring and cutting and reinstalling. When you are cutting be sure to base your measurements off the drivers side little mat because that is straight. Good product and as always fast shipping from American Muscle. Thank you for the good service!

Review from Replacement Floor Carpet - Dark Charcoal (94-04 All)

    Picture looks better than Product

The Carpet is very light weight in comparison to the original. Because of this it does not have a good shape to fit the form of the floor. I had to spend a lot of time trying to get the carpet to fit over the drive shaft hump in the rear of the car and lay tight and flat. Nothing is cut for the center console so take your time to make sure you cut it right and you may want to use some spray adhesive to hold it in place. I would spend the money and buy the heavier carpet that has a rubber like mat backing and is formed to fit you car.

    Carpet for my 2001 cobra

Was not a very accurate fit, to flat, not pressed deep enough to fit into the back seat foot wells. Had to do a lot of cutting, trimming, gluing and pulling. A heat gun on the back side helps to stretch it out. Got it to fit and look great but it took a lot of work.

Mustang Replacement Floor Carpet - Black (94-04)

Fitment is not good at all on this carpet. You will spend hours upon hours trying to get it to lay right, but it will not. The contours are just incorrect in the carpet. It would also be helpful if ACC would supply cut lines for the carpet. The quality of the carpet itself was pretty good though, and the customer service from American Muscle was top notch.
