Review & Install Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin from, and checking out a set of these bright chrome OE style headlights for all 99-04 Mustangs. These headlights are great for someone who wants to make the front end of their New Edge Mustang look like new again, by replacing your worn out factory headlights with a one piece factory like design featuring a crystal clear lens and a bright chrome housing. Not only will these help you get that show room appearance once again, but they also greatly improve your night time visibility, by eliminating those cloudy yellowed stockers. You’ll be happy to know that installing these headlights is a very easy task, thanks to the headlight mounting system used in these cars. All you need to do is simply remove the two mounting tabs from each headlight, and then unplug the harness. Simply reinstall in reverse order, and you’re done, everything should take you about 30 minutes. However if you do have any problems you can always reference the detailed installation video located on this page. So if the front end of your New Edge Mustang isn’t exactly looking like new anymore, then a set of these chrome OE headlights might just be the fix you’re looking for.

Ask a Question

I purchased Item #42011 headlights. It said in the info to add the 9007 bulbs so I did. When I received my head lights it came with bulbs already in it and they look the same as the 9007's that I purchased. What is the difference in the 9007 and the light bulbs that came with the headlights?

  • The OE Style Headlights for a 1999-2004 Mustang comes with standard 9007 bulbs and the Raxiom bulbs, item 49151 are upgraded replacement bulbs for the headlights.

Question Resolved

What makes these headlights different than the chrome stock replacements (Item #100146). Also these wont leak right? Because the pair i have now are getting water in them.

  • The difference between the OE Style Headlights (99-04 All) and the Chrome Stock Replacement Headlights (99-04 All) item #100146 ( is that the OE Style Headlights have black accent to the chrome housing whereas the Chrome Stock Replacement Headlights do not. To answer your second question, these will not leak. However, if you want to seal them yourself to make sure I advise sealing with silicone for more reinforcement.

Question Resolved

What is the sealing and curing referred to in some of the reviews? I have a 2002 Mustang GT, what is the difference between the Chrome Stock Replacement Headlights and the OE Style Headlights?

  • Sealing and curing is just putting another coat of sealant where the two halves meet for extra help to prevent moisture from getting in. The OE Style Headlights have a chrome housing with black accents. The Chrome Stock Replacement Headlights have a chrome housing without the black accents. They are very similar in appearance and offer the same light bulb options. It comes down to which set you like the best.

Question Resolved

Stock Chrome vs Stock Black Housing? *This is more of an "opinion" question* I have a red 99 v6. The factory headlights are in OK condition but I want to replace them because my HID's just went out and now my car feels boring again. I know these are completely different because the bulb isnt changing just the housing, but I'm sick and tired of fussing with HID's and want something new. What would look better, the chrome or black? I'm leaning towards black because I have black rims, black shorty antenna, black interior and black decklid with black stripes and decals. Would that be an overboard of black though? Thanks!

  • your thinking in the right direction, i'd go with black. to add chrome now wouldn't look good with all the other black stuff you have now. good luck, pappy

    A little worried.

My first set of lights fogged up on me after 1 wash. Water got inside because of faulty silicone bead around light. My second set arrived today, and on one light there is silicone missing in some spots that the other light has. I will put them in and see, but have little faith that they will not fog up as well. It seems to me water will get in where there is no silicone eventually. Because it takes a week to 6 days for delivery, it becomes a little frustrating. I love the look of the lights because they really freshen up the look of the car. Hoping for the best!!

I have bought a TON of stuff from AM and have been pleased with most all of it but these lights were not one of them. Within days moisture had built up inside of them making visibility horrid not to mention it looked bad. After seeing this I took them out and poured out about half a pint of water between the two, dried them, sealed them with caulking, reinstalled them and still didnt stop them from getting water in them......

    Chrome Headlights 99-04

Very easy install, pull the headlight clips, unplug the headlight harness from old headlight assembly, plug harness into new headlight assembly, push the headlight assembly into place, reinstall clips and you are done. Very simple, took maybe 10 minutes to do both assemblies.

    Better Than New

These Raxioms look better than the factory new headlights with a brighter finish all the way around. Now the front end looks new again. It took less than 30 minutes to install both.

clear / chrome replacement headlight lenses for my 2000 Mustang.

Awesome, Fantastic and more than I expected. The "how to" video was super and delivery was fast. I can hardly wait to order the sequential tail light kit. I used to work in auto repair but that was 35 years ago and these lenses and the install video were so sweet that it took me less than an hour to have them in. Thank you American Muscle!

Made my car look like new

The plastic on my original headlights was crazed and looked like ugly. The new headlights look and work great, and were easy to install. I goofed on my first light, breaking the plastic assembly on the back. American Muscle replaced the headlight at no cost, and after talking to them about my mistake, I was able to install them. I just had to lean heavily against these after market lights in order to get them in position for the metal retainer to slide into position. I am happy with the lights and more than happy with the service I received from American Muscle. They stood by their product even in the face of a customer who is a klutz around cars.

    Looks amazing but...

Doesn't fit very well. Tried sealing these headlights 3 times now, one would condensate, I'd reseal it and let it dry. Took my Sonic Blue to the car wash the next day and the other headlight would condensate. It's ridiculous. I think there was something wrong with the actual headlight...and there were scuffs on the inside of the lens :/ Well, these are great replacements for UV damaged headlights, but I wouldn't use them in rainy weather.

    Poor quality product.

As I wrote the sales department these were difficult to fit and the bulb socket broke taking off the bulb shield. Overall not the quality I expected and it is most likely a made-in-China part that is over-hyped and over-priced. I will point out I have over fifty years of twisting wrenches and although I don't care for modern mechanics a headlight module is well within my skill set. I do give American Muscle credit for allowing even bad reviews to be posted.

Look great - but started to yellow and "peel" in under a year

The headlights really do look great and the styling is nice. My only problem with them is that the passenger side headlight started to yellow and have some kind of a "peel" of the top coat on the plastic when being parked outside just for a couple months (usually is garaged)

    My new head turners

A night and day difference over the worn out stock lights. Install was probably the easiest mod I've ever done. After install it was like i had my high beams on the old lights but they were just on, then I bought the sylvania bulbs and they light up both sides of the interstate. Made the front end of the car pop. Just be careful with the little clips that hold the bulb wires. Broke one on both sides but was an easy fix with some super glue, if you can find them. Definite buy.

Upon ordering I was told this item was out of stock and I wouldn't see it for a few days after my expected delivery date. The item ended up shipping ahead of schedule which tells me that American Muscle took the initiative to ship immediately when stocked. That in itself is excellent customer service! The product came pre-sealed around the headlight casing, which cut down a lot of prep time before installation. Great product, great service. I will definitely be ordering from American Muscle again.
