Description
Improve ET's And Low End Torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your Pony. Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use. Superior Quality. These Ford Racing 3.73 Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Ford Racing Speedometer Recalibration Tool is an inexpensive way to fix this issue.

Application. This Ford Racing 3.73 Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 2005 to 2010 V6 Mustang models equipped with a 7.5" rear end. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations.

will this give me more torque and horsepower? if so how much?

  • No it will not. It will allow your engine to get to a higher rpm where your car will accelerate faster. It's referred to as the power band. Basically steeper gears will make your car accelerate faster and feel like it has more torque, but really the gears only use what's already there more efficiently I guess you could say.

can the car handle these gears is the 7.5 rear end strong enough to handle these gears when under extreme conditions, i have an automatic that i race at the track and i usually launch the car around 2000-2300 rpm. i have heard that the 7.5 rear is weak

  • I watched a mustang with 7.5 rear run the strip with a recent dyno sheet showing 360 hp and drag slicks run multiple passes without issues. The axles and clutch is more then likely to be what fails.

FRPP 3.73 Rear End Gears Put The Power Behind Your V6 Pony!

    January 28, 2013

Does your pony feel like it has no giddyup? No go? Well, mine did and I didn't like it. After reading and comparing the different gear ratio's, I decided to go with 3.73 and I COULDN"T BE HAPPIER! WHY? Pros: Ford Racing Performance Parts = Quality OEM Ford Gears = Stronger and Quieter Better Acceleration = More Aggressive Off The Line Way Better Perfomance! As for gas mileage differences. I can't blame it on the gears! It's definitely the driver! It is just so much more responsive Cons: None. I am very very happy! My Pony Is Acting More Like A Stallion!

    Wake up the Acceleration

    March 02, 2014

Product arrived on time in 2 days with a few other goodies i ordered. box was a little banged up and dirty but packed tightly with plastic wrap and styrofoam molding. I bought this with an Auburn limited slip differential and installed them last weekend. If you arent 100% comfortable with doing this in your driveway, take it to a shop. I took my time with this as there are a lot of different parts in the rear end. It took an entire day, with a friend with as much experience as me helping me. There is quite a bit of adjusting and maybe some filing of the gears so you dont get that whining noise. Buy the bearing kit that AM offers with the purchase. Getting the car on the road, I noticed a lot better acceleration in every gear, from stopped to highway speeds. I have several bolt ons already n my 07 and this definitely added to the seat of that pants feeling. Paired with the Auburn diff, you can feel the power being planted on the road surface as you take off. I dont have any real numbers but if i had to guess, my 0-60 times and quarter mile times have improved slightly, maybe 0.2 seconds quicker; subtle, but every second counts! I enjoy highway driving so i opted for the 3.73s, if you are into drag racing then the 4.10s are for you. My gas mileage barely suffered. where I was getting 30mpg on on the highway with a street tune from BAMA, im now getting about 26-27mpg. This product is worth the money, and could easily be a first modification for someone, especially if youre iffy about adding power to the cars motor, and want to focus primarily on the drivetrain. I recommend this product!

    sct tuner+ford tlock+gears= performance v6!

    December 22, 2012

I didn't know much about gears and I wasn't sure at first how they would do anything. I researched it for a while on the forums and finally just got them, even though a lot of ppl try to push getting the 8.8 instead that comes with 3.73 already. Here in Florida it was cheaper to get the gears and ford tlock. Shop install was $350 so that's not terribly bad. I already had the SCT tuner with firm shifts set, with gears it will chirp the tires in third gear! This is an automatic so that's pretty impressive. If you are reading these reviews trying to decide for yourself, hopefully this helps a little. I'm definitely happy I got them, I do recommend getting a tlock or auburn dif or one of those of your choosing because two tires turning gets the car moving faster instead of one tire burning off the rim. And two tire burnouts are cool too.

    good gear bad luck

    April 20, 2013

i got this gear had problems up the rear end had a bearing missing in the install kit. but A.M. made it right and sent a new kit. then putting in the gear. the gear ring was a little over sized but that is a common problem sometimes. All you have to do is cut a little off the ring to make it fit and your good to go. now my stang takes off like a shot and you cant wipe off the grin on my face!

    Pulls Good

    August 03, 2012

Very good investment if you want to feel your car pull harder, but your gas milage does go down as should be expected. If I could do it again I would.

2007 Ford Mustang V6! Burning Tires

    March 22, 2013

Great product. Took about 4 hours to install. Recommend shop install if you have never done it before. Really woke up the rear end of this car since they come from the factory with 3.31's. Recommend LSD as well! Great bang for your buck. You won't notice a decrease in gas mileage driving in the city but on the high way expect 3-4 mpg less. Overall great product and great company!

    Great addition

    October 28, 2012

We decided to let a friend who owns a shop put this modification in and it turned out great. No noise and plenty of get up. We coupled the 3:73s with a ford traction lock. Already had installed bbk cold air, pypes dual exhaust, and bama tuner. Everything from AM always fits.

    Nice Change

    May 28, 2014

Went from stock 3.31's to these in an V6 manual. Very nice change in shifting, power is used better, and you get to your power band much quicker! i highly recommend for anyone trying to mod their V6 to be fast. Make sure you get a LSD installed along with these to save time and money, and make the car quicker!

3.73 Gears, recommended for GT but think twice for V6.

    November 25, 2013

First of all, the product was shipped promptly and arrived within a few days. Cudos to AM. The performance gain is good but not earth shattering as some reviews would have you believe. I was actually disappointed as I was expecting a more seat-pinning experience. I guess I bought into the hype. If you can do the installation yourself, then you'll save a bundle and the bang for the buck category gets better, but if you're paying a shop, then think twice. If you want much faster accelation over stock, then get the 4.10's. If you are concerned about highway RPM's but still want that acceleration, then get a GT.

Really wakes up my car !!

    July 18, 2014

Extremely woke up my car !! If you want to still be able to drive your car daily this is what you want. Not as much acceleration as 4.10s but you don't loose top end with these gears.
