Modular 5.0L. Now you can install a Ford Racing Boss Modular 5.0L Engine Block in your very own SN95 Mustang on the cheap. This block reuses everything from your stock GT's 4.6L V8, all you need to supply is a new set of larger pistons and brand new 5.0 is complete.

Built Ford Tough. This Boss 5.0 iron block features a 4.6L deck height and a 94mm cylinder bore. It is cast in Ford's Cleveland plant using a proprietary iron mix to yield the strongest casting possible.

Additional Features. Featuring a Siamese 94mm Bore and a 4 Bolt Main with interference fit nodular iron machined caps, this Ford Racing Modular 5.0L block has increased main web window size for less oil movement and greater power.

Application. This Ford Racing Boss Modular 5.0L Engine Block is designed to be direct fit replacement for the stock 4.6L block of the 1996 to 2004 GT Mustang.

Technical Note. This is a bare block, no internals are included. This block does not have a finished milled head deck or cylinder bores. Your engine builder will need to mill the deck and finish bore, then hone each bore specifically for the combination being installed.

Ask a Question

Will higher flow fuel injectors be needed? I'm keeping everything stock except a Comp Cams stage 1 cam, CAI, and 75mm throttle body. Will it be necessary to replace the 19lb injectors with 24lb or higher injectors?

Taz04

  • You can still run 19lb injectors but you may want to get an adjustable fuel regulator. But if you are going thru all this trouble 24 would be the way to go incase you decide to upgrade heads and intake in the future.

Will this block work with an 06 Mustang GT? Build it as a 3v.

SilentJ

  • The Ford Performance Boss Modular 5.0L Engine Block is built off of a 2v 4.6 liter motor meant for a 1996-2004 Mustang GT.

What is a good piston to go in this block?

Julian84

  • Get a Boss 302 Crankshaft, Manley H-beam rods, Diamond pistons, and some good bearings. I run a 1000+ WHP Turbo setup with those internals, but not all the time. A stronger block would allow that safely.

Can this engine fit in my 2001 mustang. I would like to swap out my 3.8 for this 5.0 block and was wondering can it fit and what other steps would i have to take.

MackenzieSimpson

  • No, this block is a replacement for the 4.6L block and reuses most of those components.

Will the 03 Mach 1 4v heads fit this block? Will this block fit an 03 Mach 1?

JWBgator

  • The Ford Performance Boss Modular 5.0L Engine Block would be able to fit inside the engine bay, yes, but will require a large number of modifications, functionality speaking, considering you will be jumping from a 4.6 to a 5.0.

Piston fitment? I know the block needs to be honed and milled, but when getting larger pistons will the larger pistons fit my 01 gt rods? Will I need bigger rods? If so do I need to get a different crank?

TombstoneMustanggt

  • It is highly recommended that you upgrade to larger rods and a different crank. You will not be able to use your factory rods with the larger pistons.
