Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. And I’m checking out these GT500 Style Pedal Covers for our automatic and manual ’05 to ’09 Mustangs. The stock pedal covers in your S197 Mustang were certainly not designed with style in mind. Their ugly, boring, and chances are have probably seen better days. That’s where these covers really shine, literally. These covers give your interior an instant boost of class and style. These pedals were designed to the original factory specifications using the same high quality materials found in the newer GT500 Mustangs. Depending on your car, you’ll either receive the gas, brake, and dead pedal for you automatic guys. And for you manual cars your going to receive the gas, brake, clutch, and dead pedal. Now the install is very straight forward and should only take you fifteen to thirty minutes. Now a little install tip before you get started: it’s a great idea to let your brake and clutch pedal sit in hot or boiling water for a few minutes just to make the rubber a little more pliable. Now your first step is to remove your rubber factory pedal covers and get them out of the way. Install your brake and clutch pedal first, and then move over to your accelerator. You’ll find that very easy thanks to the 3m tape located on the back of this piece. Once your done with that, go ahead and move over to your dead pedal where it bolts on to the factory location. Install couldn’t be easier. There is no question that these covers will be a dramatic improvement to your interior for a price that’s hard to beat. So if you want to enjoy a little bit of that awesome GT500 attitude on your ride, be sure to check out these pedal covers today.

Race Inspired Styling. Now you can ditch those ugly stock rubber pedal covers and replace them with a set of GT500 styled pedals from AmericanMuscle for a race inspired custom interior.

OEM Quality. Made from high quality OEM materials to the original factory specifications these Mustang Pedal Covers look and feel just like the ones that were originally only available in the Shelby GT500 Mustangs.

Installation. This set of three (3) GT500 Style Pedal Covers can be easily and quickly installed. The Brake Pedal Cover features a simple slip-on installation, the Accelerator Cover is adhered via two way automotive bonding tape and the included Dead Pedal mounts easily via a factory bolt.

Application. These GT500 Style Pedal Covers is designed to fit the 2005 to 2014 Mustangs with an automatic transmission, including the V6 and GT models. Will not fit the Premium 2010-2014 Mustangs.

  • Hello, on the GT500 Style Pedal Covers - Automatic (05-14 GT, V6) the dead pedal installs with #M tape, on the following link you can find the installation guide: http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/gt500-dead-pedal-cover-install.pdf

Do these fit the 2016 mustang? It looks like the same pedals i had in my 07 gt?

  • The GT500 Style Pedal Covers - Automatic (05-14 GT, V6) will not fit directly on a 2016 Mustang as the pedals have a slightly different shape. I recommend purchasing the Dead Pedal Cover - Brushed (15-17 All) item #389290 (www.americanmuscle.com/dead-pedal-cover-brushed-2015.html).

Great to look at, some minor issues (nothing new)

The product does look great, I am very very happy with the appearance. This was installed on a 2007 V6 pony package - automatic. The brake pedal is the easiest. The old rubber one popped off with no tools, and the new one (which is the only one that does have black RUBBER inserts) went on in about 5 minutes - no heating required. The gas cover is cheap feeling because the black inserts are plastic, and the 3M tape - eh. I am not convinced it will hold and I may need to revisit with additional adhesive. It fits very well! The dead petal. Where to begin. I'll be honest - installation almost got me to the point of saying bag it. I decided to carry on. The inserts are plastic. For these prices, they could use hard rubber. Both are petroleum products?! I had to remove the rubber floor mat, pull back the carpet, take out some styrofoam insert, and then loosening and tightening the bolt was not easy for me - the plastic dash piece comes down and was in my way the whole time. It's finally in, looks pretty good, but I don't even rest my foot on the dead pedal. Again it looks pretty good, but the fit and the installation - so so. I'd rather have the option to pay $40 for the two pedal covers. But overall I would recommend this product they look great!

Looks very good but a bit pricey for what you get

The chrome finish of the pedal covers matches the stock interior chrome. Unfortunately, the covers have black plastic inserts instead of hard rubber. When the box arrived, one of the plastic inserts had popped out. It was easy to pop back in but it was dissapointing given the price of the set. Being plastic, the inserts aren't very grippy like hard rubber and they will likely show wear. As another reviewer posted there are no instructions included. Make sure and view the instructions online at the American Muscle product page. The gas pedal cover has 3M double sided tape. The tape did not stick to the cover or the pedal. I heated the tape and then applied the cover to the pedal and clamped it in place with 3 clamps for an hour as it adhered. So far it as stayed put. As others have noted it may require some 3M adhesive activator, extra tape or at worst, glue. The brake cover was simple: pull off the stock cover, slide the new cover on from the top wrapping the lip over the foot rest. Strong fingers are a plus. Expect to spend the most time getting the dead pedal cover and carpet to look the way you want. The dead pedal cover will mostly likely require grinding to get it to fit flush with the footrest area. This is covered in the instructions. What may be more difficult is getting it to sit parallel with the floor as the bracket doesn't clear the floorpan well (at least in a 2008 GT). This is not covered in the instructions. Getting the carpet back to its proper location flush with the left kick panel may require cutting a slot for the dead pedal bracket. This is not mentioned in the instructions either. I did not cut the carpet and just tucket the carpet under the bracket. This allows a small crack to show between the dead pedal and the footwell. I will likely go back and cut a slot for a more finished look. Overall, they *look* really good. I wish they had been about $20 cheaper given the plastic inserts, poor adhesion and need for modifcations for a perfect fit.

    PEDAL COVERS

Personally, these pedal covers made a huge difference in my Mustang. The rubber stock pedals totally threw of the chromed out inside of my ride, but as soon as I saw these, I knew I had to order them right away! The beauty of these pedal covers is that they match the chrome on the dash, etc. perfectly, unlike other chrome pedal covers. Easy installation & great overall look, haven\'t had any problems with these pedal covers!

    These look great , but

there were no instructions, and they just showed up in box loose with other stuff. There should be instructions, including the best tools and methods to install the dead pedal. It is a tight install process. I found that a ratcheting box wrench worked fairly well once I got the carpet and pad well out of the way. Think it was a 15 mm. b, but not sure. Looks great once buttoned-up The brake and throttle are easy, but I did add additional double-faced, outdoor 25 lb. tape I got at Wal-Mart to the throttle pedal to get good adhesion.

    Could have more 3m tape

The pedal covers are nice.. but the gas pedal didn't fit. I had to double up the 3m tape to get the top to stick.. I'll be buying more 3m tape to get a good tight fit... other then that awesome product

Great look not worth the price

The dead pedal does not fit properly, you have to modify the hole location because it doesn't fit flush on the carpet. The brake was easy to get old pedal off and to get it back on. My biggest problem was the tape that was provided for the accelerator, while my wife was driving a couple of days after i installed it fell off.

Makes a nice improvement to the interior!

These covers make a nice improvement to the interior for the price. However, the gas pedal cover came with 3M tape which did not adhere to the pedal surface well enough. I had to supplement with some additional adhesive.

    Pedal covers

These had been installed on my car before I bought it. (No dead pedal.) The brake cover was missing. Bought the set just for the brake cover. Tried installing it without heat and couldn't get it completely on. Put it in hot water for a few minutes and got it on with some effort and a flat screwdriver. Note; Lloyd floor mats cover the dead pedal area.

Great looks, but didn't want the dead pedal

I just installed these today in my 08 GT. They look great. They went on easily and intuitively, which is good because my set arrived with no instructions; not sure if this was just an oversight or if these normally don't come with them. I can't speak for the dead pedal cover, because I didn't install it and don't intend to. I really wish a set was offered without this cover. You can get installation instructions here from the AM website, minus instructions for installing the dead pedal (not sure why that install isn't covered), and when they tell you to press firmly on the gas pedal to get it to stick, they're not kidding - the raised ribs on my pedal made making that cover stick mean REALLY putting my weight behind the cover to make contact. At first, the cover actually slipped right off before I leaned into it to make the tape hit and stay. The brake pedal was a piece of cake - it's been warm here lately, and that original cover came off by hand. The new one took a bit of elbow grease, but went on with no trouble using a thin, angled trim tool. All in all, a simple install with a nice upgraded look and feel (metal pedals are always appreciated, especially since I'm a year-round driver so these should be easier to clean than the rubber OEMs - longevity remains to be determined in my high-winter salt environment), but it loses a star because, like I said, I don't want or need the dead pedal.

Really good looking pedals, an excellent addition! however the dead pedal is a little bit of a challenge if you've never done something like it before. Also I recommend using a heat gun to warm up both the pedal cover and the gas pedal it self to help it stay.

Nice pedals but need to find better fit and quality pedal covers.

I ordered these for the price but the quality was not as great as the price. If anybody orders these make sure the gas pedal cover actually fits and that the tape behind it is not dry.

    Great look !!!

These GT500 style peddles look great and give a little piazzas to the inside of my mustang. The only issue I had was the tape on the gas peddle is a little thin and would not stick. So I got some stage 3 3M tape and applied around the edges. Along with the promoter, not included, I don't think it will be coming off any time soon. The other two pieces fit perfect. Very happy with them

These pedals look good. The only problem I ran into was installing the dead pedal which did not come with instructions. After reading online on how to install the dead pedal, I was able to install it in.

    Look Great!

If you have the premium package, you should already have these pedals, minus the dead pedal. I only installed the dead pedal, since my others still look brand new. That's a good thing, meaning they're not cheap, nor do they wear down easily. I have a very heavy foot, and they still look new. Adding the dead pedal made a huge difference, and it was definitely worth it. I highly suggest these as an upgrade. It will bring out a more chromed look, and style to your stang, guaranteed!
