More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake installed under the hood of your SVT Cobra you can expect to see gains of up to 14-18 more horsepower at the rear wheels across the entire RPM range. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see an impressive improvement in throttle response.

105mm MAF Housing. With a massive 105mm MAF housing molded right into the tube you have a CAI kit you can grow into and not have to worry about buying new kit to reach 550-600 RWHP. Adding a blower? Simply drill out the pre-molded plug on the MAF block located on the bottom of the tube, install a SCT MAF sensor and electronics, add a huge 4.5 X 12” filter and you now have changed your JLT Cold Air Intake into a JLT High Boost 12” Intake.

Fender Well Induction. This JLT Cold Air Intake is designed to draw in cold air from the fender well, rather than the hot engine compartment. Which reduces the incoming airs temperature for better combustion resulting in more horsepower.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. JLT cold air intake kits come complete with a 4x6 high flow reusable S&B brand air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Installation. The JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake kit was designed to install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation. Reuses the factory "S" style PCV hose.

Application. This JLT Performance "Next Generation" Cold Air Intake System is specifically designed for use on the 1996 to 1998 SVT Cobra Mustangs equipped with the DOHC 4.6L V8 engine and does not require re-tuning the vehicles computer for operation. Compatible with both 80mm and 90mm MAF's.

Technical Note. Will not fit with most strut tower braces.

Gas Mileage ? Howdy AM Customers or AM Techs or owner of a 98 SVT Mustang Cobra convertible or coupe with JLT Next Gen CAI this installed, I noticed that the Approx. HP increase will be. So now as far as Gas Mileage is concerned, has anyone noticed a gain in Miles Per Gallon ? Mine is a convertible therefore a bit heavier, but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed an increase in gas mileage ? I 'd like to get your professional and/or experienced opinion regarding this subject with this JLT Next Gen CAI. Thanks all, for your time.

fitment with tower bar? Does this fit with the factory cobra brace? I see that one of the customer's pics shows it installed with the brace...but then when I read some of the comments, some people are saying it doesn't fit.

    Must get if your a cobra owner

    The difference was night and day!! Throtle response was immediately noticeable and the car breathes easier. My car is lowered about 1.5" eibachs, so instal took a bit longer than usual, about 2.5 hrs due to jack up the car, removing the wheel etc. I recommend removing the wheel for easier access, especially if your Cobra is lowered. This is an easy hp/tq increase, man I love V8s...!!!

    Good CAI

    The cold air intake was felt like it was good quality. It was easy to install. It looks good, a lot better than the stock intake. It was a little noticeable for performance gains, but it is really quiet, but that might just be cause my exhaust is so loud.

    Not a good fit 97 cobra

    I purchased the JLT because I read and heard amazing results. This is an outstanding product. The only issue is that it won't clear the support tower. Without the support brace, the handling was not as tight. My husband being a ford asset grad and so far 9 yrs exp. Didn't think it was a good idea to completely remove the support bar. I wasn't able to find a after market replacement so I had to return the CAI. I would purchase this product again if I had another car to use it o .

    Great First Mod!

    The Jlt Intake was a great first mod to the old Cobra. As far as the seat dyno goes the car feels more powerful. The fit was great, and install was easy. No more difficult than changing the filter. All in all, I would definitely recommend this intake. Only downside was that it did not fit with the stock strut brace, however this was little more than extra weight up front.

    JLT is the way to go

    Lets my 98 cobra breathe a lot better. Best results will come with a sct tuner and bamas custome tunes. Overall a great product. Price isn't too bad but sure beats bbks. Must have for any mustang owner!

    JLT Next Generation is Awesome

    Installed was pretty straight forward. The only thing that was a little P.I.T.A. is moving the smog pump in the fender and installing the filter. I didn't remove the tire or jack it up but I would suggest to do so for ease of install. It just barley doesn't fit under the strut tower brace. I'm going to modify it so it works though. Probably one of the best cold airs out there for the 96-98 cobra's. It breathes so well now! I would suggest a tune after install to get the most from it.

    Easy install

    Easy install, I jacked up the passenger side of my car and turned the wheels to the right, and crawled underneath to install the filter & MAF in the fenderwell. The only part that had me cursing was the air pump. I unbolted the three bolts, and when I went to mount it in the more forward position to make clearance for the filter, I started tightening the bolt, then it got hard turning (stuff in the threads or something) and the "nut" that the bolt screws into, the weld broke, and then I couldn't tighten it or loosen it anymore. I fought with it, trying to put a screwdriver in there to bind against the 'nut" so I could turn it, to no avail. Blah blah blah, I cut the bolt and just unplugged the air pump and plugged off the hose, AFTER fighting with the bolt for over an hour trying to get it tightened. Excellent product, and I am sure I just had a total fluke of bad luck luck on the install. Otherwise, it would have only taken about an hour to install it.... The check engine light is on now with the airpump off, I have to get a new tune and have them deactivate that code from coming up or whatever

    Power Gains

    I installed this product on my 98 Cobra. I was referred to buy this product to fix a condition with my MAF sensor which was only operating at 70%. Not only is the sensor at full operation but I was able to feel a decent gain. The car went back on the dyno for more fuel and I ended up gaining 13hp and 16ft lbs. On a bone stock, other than intake and exhaust, cobra, this is a very good gain for the money.
