Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

I’m Dave from AmericanMuscle.com and today I have budget friendly and super easy item to dress up the rear of your 99-04 Mustang. I have the vinyl bumper insert letters that fit in the GT and V6. These kits spell out the word mustang, and each letter is cut perfectly to fit in the bumper letter impressions just like you see in the 2000 GT over my shoulder where we have already installed our top quality black vinyl letters. Regardless of which one you want to pick up you can count on it being durable and long lasting as they are all made from premium cast vinyl. And as our customer reviews will tell you they are a top dress up choice for every 99-04 rear bumper. These insert letters are available in a variety of colors and materials, we have the black, the matte black, the reflective black, white, reflective white, silver, reflective steel, and my favorite the carbon fiber. No matter what style you choose installation is a breeze, these letters all have a protective white film on the back that’s simply peels off, when you go to install there’s no tools, no mess, no drilling. In fact all you need for installation is a spray bottle with water and soap solution. Spray the bumper down after you have cleaned it with the solution and use it to get each letter into position. Use your finger to push the bubbles out, letter by letter; you’re going to have a great installation. Now another install tip: try to make sure it’s a warmer day and it’s not windy. It’s easier to do an install when your bumpers about room temperature and you don’t have wind at your back you are less likely to have the letters fold up on themselves and stick to themselves. An easy styling upgrade available in a variety of colors, the rear bumper insert letters fitting great on almost all 99-04 Mustang GT and V6s help make you stand out from the crowd.

Great Custom Styling. Add an extra touch of custom styling to your New Edge Mustang with a set of Black Vinyl Mustang Bumper Insert Letters. These bumper insert letters will really get your Pony noticed whether it is on the street or at the track.

Perfect Fit Guaranteed. Our vinyl designs have been test fit, refined, and tested again on our very own fleet of vehicles to assure a perfect fit every time.

Superior Quality Materials. We use the highest quality Premium Cast Vinyl available on the market today - designed to last at least 8 years of harsh outdoor weather. It's far more durable than our competitors' cheap, calendared vinyl film which starts to degrade in just a couple of years!

Application. These Mustang Bumper Insert Letters will fit all 1999 to 2004 V6, GT, Mach 1, Bullitt and 1999 SVT Cobra Mustang rear bumpers.

Do you have to dip them in water?

  • Best way to put them in is a 50/50 mixture of water windex or soap and spray down the bumper. That way you can move them into place and then push out the water with a sqeegee or credit card works also.

  • That's up to your judgement, however if you do go ahead and I stall them, be sure you line them all up with even spacing and at the same height, otherwise it'll look ba for sure

  • Yes. Its ok if u go through a car wash as long as you have let the letters dry for at least 2 hours. The vinyl stays on there very good.

    Make your MUSTANG stand out

When I purchased this car last summer, it was in pristine condition. But the stock bumper with the inlaid "MUSTANG" lettering was painted the same orange as the car. Looking through the online catalog, the collection of vinyl letters attracted my attention. I ordered a set along with some other decals and with some trepidation, I set about following the installation instructions. No need to worry, the installation was easier than I thought. I only had to purchase an empty spray bottle to spray the water/soap mixture before applying the letters. If you have an old "windex" or other spray bottle, be sure it's completely clean inside before using it.

    Dresses up the back bumper

As has been mentioned, installation is very easy, but be sure to do your prep work. After washing the back bumper, I used isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to completely remove any dirt or wax from the indented area before starting to install the letters. Squeeze four or five drops of dishwashing detergent in a spray bottle filled with water before and wash the entire bumper, then use the alcohol. Spray the individual letters liberally with the soapy water and peel them from the paper. Before affixing them to the bumper, also spray the bumper. Do not skimp with the soapy water, the more, the better, and be careful peeling the letters 'S' 'A' and 'G' off the paper so as not to fold them over themselves. Once the letter is applied, spray it again and smooth all the air bubbles out with your wet fingers. Pay special attention to the edges of the letters and make sure they are totally flat and affixed to the bumper. Hold the letter in place with one hand while smoothing it out with the other. When done the black letters pop on the while bumper of my 2004 Vert.

Not a good product.... Bad batch?

Several of our letters were not a great fit. The "S" specifically was horrible, it didn't fit inside the "S" on the bumper where it's supposed to, we didn't stretch the vinyl or did anything to it and when we applied is the decal was larger than what it was supposed to be.... Maybe we got a bad batch that was cut wrong or something but I don't know.

    Easy!

I'm 17... and easily did these myself. Just do as the online instructions say, get a bowl of water with 3 drops of soap. Let them sit inside the soapy water for 15secs, then easily slide them into place. SUPER easy to do, and looks great!

    Great Look

Never understood why 'stangs didn't come from the factory with the letters blacked out. It looks 100x better. I'm sure it would cost Ford a few bucks on every car produced that would end up costing them millions throughout the year or something... Anyways, easy install, just make sure you use a liberal amount of soapy water. Funny how such a simple "mod" can completely change the look of your car. Love it.

First Set didn't go so well

The first set that was sent to me did go so well. They were really sticky and wouldn't come off the paper they were on. So they stretched and tore when I tried to take them off the paper. The next ones that were sent to me were just fine went on perfect. I think the first ones that I got were defective. Oh well American Muscle took care of me.
