Does thi transmission oil pan would fix my car? I have a 94 ford mustang with 3.8L engine and has automatic transmission. I was wounder if this transmission oil pan would fit a car with 3.8L engine.

  • It should fit provided you have not done any mods that would interfere or installed a different year model transmission or similar. Check with a transmission shop if you have any doubts and see if you can find any torque specs. (They may be different for aluminum).

what filter does this pan use?

  • In my 2002 GT, I replaced the filter when I installed this pan, and I used the regular filter indicated for my transmission. My transmission is the 4R70W 4-speed auto and the Ford Parts part number for the appropriate filter number is 7A098. No problems replacing it; this part was an exact match.

This is a nice product. The only drawback is the small drain hole. It would take a lot for a rock to punch a hole in this pan.

    4R70W Aluminum Trans Pan

Very pleased with fitment and pricing. Compares to high end higher priced pans that I've seen. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a deeper pan on a budget.

    Ford AOD Pan

This pan was easy to intall and no leaks. I installed on my 1957 Ford Monarch pulling a 1976 23ft Airstream trailer and proceeded to St.Johns Nfl were we started our cross Canada tour to Victoria BC. In effect we crossed from coast to coast twice Not a bit of transmission troubles and no leaks I would say that the pan is an outstanding product and well worth the price payed

    Highly Recommend!

High quality, easy installation, no leaks; a MUST for A/T Mustangs! Following the advice of a previous reviewer, I secured the original large magnet to ine of the "fingers" and all went well. Go ahead and spring for a filter kit and an over-priced Ford pan gasket, and you're set. Expect 2-3 extra quarts, and re-check at ambient temp as well as operating temp (see owner's manual); drain plug makes it easy to adjust fluid level if needed. So far, my transmission works noticeably better; can't really tell if it's due to cooler operating temps or new fluid. Given the cost of transmission repairs/replacement, this upgrade should be AUTOMATIC (ok, I just couldn't resist!)

    Simple install..highly recommend!

Great product at a budget price. I took the stock large donut magnet from the stock trans pan and installed in on one of the "fingers" coming up from the bottom of this pan. (You'd need an inside picture of the pan to see the 4 fingers that are about 2 inches long) I secured it with a small hose clamp on the finger. Voila! you now retain the large magnet to collect any metalic debris. Expect to add at least 3 more quarts with this pan. I poured a quart of used Mercon V in the old pan and it took up about 3/8 inch in the old pan. This pan is at least 1 1/4 inch deeper, so do the math. Buy plenty of Mercon V to refill your 4r70w when you install this pan.

    Great pan for the money

The quality of this pan is second to none. Just as nice as any other out there and 50$ cheaper. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a hole tapped for a transmission temp gauge. They could also supply a plug so you have the option to plug the hole when a temp gauge is not desired. I'm pretty sure people would be willing to pay extra for a value added feature like that. I have access to the necessary tools to drill and tap my own but most people would have to go buy a tap that big, step up, or both to accommodate for a temp gauge install.

    Great Pan

The transmission pan fit perfect. I had to order the filter and gasket from another site because they are not included and AM doesn't stock them. I used 6.5 qts of Mercon V to put the fluid level in the cross hatch area. Great product and fast shipping.

    Nice product

It fits nice and looks great. It comes with bolts and gasket. I bought a TCI super streetfighter trans. It had a major dent in the factory painted pan when I received it. It was supposed to have a chrome pan it did not. Having this pan to put on really made the job worth while! Extra Fluid, cooling fins and a drain plug! A must for any racing or high performance 4r70w for the price!

    Awesome pan

This pan was as expected, Quality was very good, machined completely and when used with the Ford reuseable gasket, No leaks! I did an infra-red temp reading and the transmission was 120 degrees at the front of the pan. I put this pan on 2001 Grand Marquis same transmission as the Mustang. USA made is a major plus for me! Thanks!

    Well made

This is a very well made product. It is far superior to the factory pan, and with the added capacity should help the transmission run cooler.

Very easy to install great fit

great product was easy to install perfect fit. When I dropped the OEM pan I was surprised to find a piece of plastic laying in the bottom shaped like a button mushroom, found out it is a plug installed during transmission build to keep dirt from entering the trans through the trans dip stick tube. When the factory installs the dip stick tube they do not pull out the plug but knock it into the trans.
