how to install Im pretty ok with mechanics yet iVE NEVER INSTALLED A SHIFT KIT, is it reletivley easy if im a back yard mechanic? is there a video on how to? thanks fernando

  • Stick to the instructions and if you have a shop manual it will be of great help for torque specs and the proceedure. If you have never done one before make sure you take your time and check online, there seems to be several videos that can help. Good luck. Dan

    good kit for the money

    I spent about 2 hours installing this kit, using a lift and air tools. Instructions are simple , too simple, as you can do the full street and strip kit or just Heavy Duty, I choose heavy duty only and I am a little disappointed. I should have done the full strip . Better instructions on what part affect the shifts and how to fine tune it would have been much better.

    A must for the stock AOD

    Its a fairly straight foward kit just a little disapointed in the gaskets and how they lined up with the valve body but in the end all was good. I strongly suggest you take your time and make sure you have a clean work bench available. Also make sure when reinstalling the valve body you dont miss the location of the shifter selector, I did and had to remove the valve body and fluid since I had no foward gears. Rookie Ford mistake, I know I was a chevy guy for years! Also make sure you check all the valves for free movement, my 1-2 valve was considerably sticky causing a poor shift from 1-2, I cleaned it and scuffed it with 1500 grit sandpaper and it shifts great now. One last suggestion make sure you dont overtighten the valve body bolts and start tightening from the center and work your way out. There are videos avail online to help. In the end im pleased and have been able to chirp 2nd, was hoping for a little harder shift but I have a lot more mods to do that will bring that along. Good luck
