Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with, and I’m breaking down Pypes’ Pype Bomb super system Cat-Back exhaust, fitting all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. If you’re looking for quite possibly one of the most aggressive systems available for your 281, for a price that’s very reasonable, look no further than the Pype Bomb Super System. This Cat-Back is constructed using durable 409 grade stainless steel, and features mandrel bends throughout. This kit also utilizes two straight through design M80 Bullitt mufflers, that are mounted directly after the Mid Pipe, and it absolutely screams, thanks a large part to these massive 4” resonator tips. There isn’t a single baffle used anywhere on this entire system, so it’s going to give you that super aggressive tone we just mentioned, it’s also going to reduce a lot of back pressure which will make for some nice top end gains, with minimal effect on your low end torque. When it comes time for the install, leave yourself about two hours to get everything bolted up properly, using standard hand tools. Now let’s hear how the Pypes Pype Bomb Super System Cat-Back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Increase in Performance and Sound. Bolting on a Pypes "Pype Bomb" Super System Cat-Back Exhaust to a stock 2005 to 2010 GT or Bullitt will yield an instant 5 to 10 horsepower gain at the rear wheels. It features two of Pypes high flow M-80 Bullet Style Mufflers for the ultimate in unrestricted flow and power gains for a deeper throaty tone.

Aggressive Throaty Sound. The Pypes "Pype Bomb" Super System Cat-Back features two high flow straight-through M-80 Bullet Mufflers that are mounted directly after the Mid Pipe, instead of after the axle, to produce an aggressive deep throaty muscle car tone with the help of the same stainless steel resonator tips that Pypes uses on their "Pype-Bomb" Axle-Back Exhaust kit.

Quality Materials. This Pypes "Pype Bomb" Super System Cat-Back Exhaust system is constructed from free flowing mandrel bent 2.5" 409 stainless steel tubing and features two Pypes M-80 Bullet straight-through mufflers for an aggressive throaty sound. The whole system is finished off with a set of 4" polished 304 stainless steel resonator tips for modern Muscle Car styling.

Application. The Pypes "Pype Bomb" Super System Cat-Back Exhaust kit is specifically designed to simply bolt-on to the existing stock H-Pipe of the 2005-2010 4.6L GT or Bullitt Mustang for more power and a louder more aggressive sound.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

Why doesn't the Pype-Bomb Super System Cat-Back Exhaust fit the 07-09 Shelby GT500's, when other 2.5 in. setups fit fine for both the GT and GT500?

  • The Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Cat-Back Exhaust (05-10 GT) offer a larger Mid Muffler Design, which could cause clearance issues on a GT500. The other Cat-Back Exhaust systems that fit the GT500 do not have a Mid Muffler Design or they have a smaller version of it.

Will tjis fit perfectly on a lowered mustang? (about 1.5" front and back?)

  • The Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Cat-Back Exhaust should work perfectly on any lowered Mustang!

My 2010 GT is Lowered 1.5" front and back. Will this system have fitment issues?

  • As long as your Mustang is not lowered more than 2" you should have no problems!

What is the loudest exhaust setup that pypes has?

  • The Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Cat-Back Exhaust (05-10 GT) will be the loudest Pypes set up that we carry on our site.

Tuning Will I need a tune for this and if not will a tune benefit it any better. All I have is a CAI and the tune for that on my 06 GT.

  • Yes you need a tune. Call bama and tell them, they will send the correct tune.

V6 Dual Exhaust Conversion Does this system include flow tubes from the mid pipe (MAC Pro Chamber) to the rear axle, mufflers and tips that would allow me to pair it with the MAC Pro Chamber Mid Pipe for true dual exhaust? If so, what else would I need to truly convert it to dual exhaust or am I covered with those two mods (excluding hanger kits)? Or any other throaty deep sounds I could find with another system for my V6 pony?

  • If you are talking about the MAC Cut & Clamp Pro Chamber Mid-pipe for 05-10 V6 Mustangs, you can use this Super System Catback to complete your conversion. The Cut & Clamp will reuse the stock cats and then you'd install this Pype-Bomb. Hope this helps!

    Simple install, good tone

I just had Achilles surgery and have a leg in a cast. I was going stir crazy, so I thought "what the heck, I'll give the installation a try. First, kudos to Ford for recognizing enthusiasts will want to modify. 30 minutes to deconstruct the cat back factory exhaust. Installation was easy and about an hour. I used wooden door shims to hold spacing between the mufflers and floor pan while I did final tightening. Once I had the couple of tools listed and the parts lined up next to the car, I never had to crawl back out for an overlooked tool or part and completed the exhaust, even in a cast! Ps...I wish I had more cackle like my old carbureted pony cars, but sounds sweet accelerating under load.

    Not great for lowered cars

Had this catback paired with a Gipson offroad xpipe for about a year now and I love the way it sounds, after a long drive my ears are ringin. but every once in a while I go over a speedbump and I can hear those m-80s scraping. Roads full of potholes I won't even attempt to go down, but I forgot to mention I'm lowered with an eibach prokit. we had a problem with fitting the exhaust, and one of my pipes sticks out about 2 inches farther than the other, but all in all great buy.

Absolutely Outstanding Exhaust. Perfect combination of Mellow for the cops at IDLE but Nasty and Raspy when you GET ON IT! The PULL from 2000 RPMs to the RED LINE is Perfect. The feel you get between your legs when you are into it is what we all know and love. Combined with the X pipe from Pypes and this exhaust I gaied 3 tenths at the track. With the JLT Cold Air Intake, BAMA Tuner I got 3 tenths at the same track. Thats 6 tenths in et. Now with the , X Pipe, and Pypes Super System, the JLT cold air intake and Bama Tune, I can't keep it straight on the street. I am 55 years old and have done 2 other hot rods in my life. I will do 4:10 Gears Next week and then we will have a BOSS 302 KILLER!!!! The 4:10;s Should give me 4 tenths according to my calculations. She will be a 12 sec street car with A/C and A Shaker Sound system. How Cool is That!!

    annoying but worth it

I bought this system for my 2007 gt and a buddy of mine came over to help me do the install. We got the old exhaust out with the aid of a tailpipe cutter and some old fashioned pull and yank. The install was a breeze on the passenger's side, everything went on perfectly, we got it all tightened down and set up with the tip sticking out from the bumper perfectly. Then we got to the driver's side and we literally spent 4 hours trying to get it in and lined up with the bumper. I still don't have it where i really want it so i might go to a shop later down the road and have them adjust it to look it's best. All this to say the exhaust sounds great when its all on and bolted down. It is loud when you get on it but on the highway cruising speeds it is non-existent. If you want something that will be the perfect amount of loud when you get on it but not drown out life around you then this is for you. Just be prepared to get very frustrated like i did when one side goes on like a glove and the other side just would not cooperate at all.

    Great Sound!

I installed this along with a JLT Series 3 CAI and Bama race tune. The exhaust sounds fantastic! It's barely louder than stock when idling, but mash the pedal and my car roars! It has a real race sound to it, not babbling or obnoxious, just a really refined rev up to the redline. I really wanted this because of how it looks on the car. The resonators at the end tuck right up under the car, giving it a serious muscle car look. I don't like how other exhausts just have small tips, and this definitely fixes that nitpick. I've had a few small issues with getting the tailpipes to line up with the rear of the car and it's taken me quite a bit of extra muscle to force it into place. Other than that, this is a great system!

    Bomb Super

It's a fairly decent system, I bought it to go with the Pypes OR X pipe, but haven't had the chance to install the X pipe yet. Coming off the stock pipe it sounds good, I hope it gets louder after I install the X pipe.

    Great exhaust..

This exhaust set up is pretty decent for the price.. It's actually more quiet than the 40series Flowmasters I had on the car. I didn't use the mid mufflers cuz my guy said it would quiet them even more. It's also had a deeper rumble than I expected. Inside the car there is 80 less drone than the Flowmasters which is a plus IMO.. Look really great on the car and sound really good when you get on it. Over all really satisfied with this set up!! Def recommend A

Pypes hit that note for me

I have been looking for the right exhaust sound for my mustang, but I was very hesitant because it is really hard to tell the real sound from a Youtube video. I trusted the great reviews from other people that bought Pypes exhaust and I wasn't disappointed. Great rumble on acceleration but quiet when I get off of the gas. Really strong growl, but not raceway loud when I stomp on it.

sounds perfect, paired it with jba equal length headers and pypes off road x pipe

I started with just the muffler delete pype bombs.... I liked the sound and price. I then added the pypes off road x pipe... these two together were very obnoxious and loud... this combination made my neighbors dislike me and was simply NOT GOOD. I added this system along with jba ceramic coated equal length headers and prothane poly bullet engine mounts today.7-20-13 I love it. I love it. I love it. Idle is pretty quiet. Wide open the sound is throaty and muscle car sounding. Hearing it coming, wow, this is how a mustang should sound.

    Tough/tedious installation, but worth it

Due to the nature of this exhaust (mid muffler) the installation process is a bit more tedious since the center section (between the cats & rear axle) comes in 3 pieces. Usually I'm pretty good at installing exhaust components but this install took me the better part of an afternoon/evening even with some help from friends, and even after that it needed some adjustment to get one of the tailpipes centered. I've heard some people ask about how low the mid-mufflers hang and they are not far (if any) below the frame rails. Even with my car lowered 1.25" front and 1.5" rear I can still clear speedbumps without dragging the mufflers at all. An initial concern I had was the size of the tail pipes... 4" rear pipes sound huge and I was a bit concerned about them before ordering, but once they were installed on the car it just looks great. Regarding the sound: I love it. There is very little drone (slight drone at right around 2k RPMs but passes quickly and doesn't bother me at all) and I heard that staggering the mid-mufflers may eliminate that. It's not overly loud, but sounds awesome. I recently added CMDPs which definitely resulted in an even better/deeper exhaust note. For the price I'd say you can't go wrong. Definitely recommended.

    Pypes Pype-Bomb Super System Catback

Pypes Super System not only replaced those huge heavy stock mufflers for a more aggressive sound, but my stang feels noticeably quicker with freed up exhaust flow. It replaces the crimped bent stock pipes with new over axle elbows and throw in m-80s for drone reduction. All in all Im satisfied, the Pype Bombs have a good sound, but I have a factory midpipe with cats and personally I think its not loud enough when using the m-80s. Im sure it would be perfect with an o/r midpipe or no m-80s. I see if installing LT headers will help. Great product, good byitself, awesome with a Bama tune and CAI, really wakes it up. Installation tip: you need to cut the factory catback and the axle elbows, after trying to take them out for awhile I realized its impossible without cutting them, unless you remove rearend components (which would be ridiculous)
