Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at an engine bay dress up item for your ride. I’m referring to this brushed stainless steel radiator cover for all 99-04 Mustang GTs and all 99-01 Cobras. Let’s face it your factory rad cover isn’t going to get you any compliments when you pop your hood, chances are its old, dirty and could probably use a little TLC, that TLC comes in the form of this quality brushed stainless steel rad cover that will instantly become the star of your bay. This cover is made from 100% stainless steel and features a brushed satin finish that’s sure to make a nice addition to any engine compartment. In addition it’s stamped to factory making it a perfect fit as you can see in the GT behind me. Installation is pretty straight forward, using a flat head screwdriver go ahead and pop out the plastic retainer clips holding your factory radiator cover and grill in place after that reinstall the new stainless steel radiator cover using the new hardware and that’s it. It shouldn’t take you any more than a half hour. Whether you are just beginning to mod your ride or your well on your way to full on show car status this brushed aluminum radiator cover is sure to take care of an often neglected spot in your engine bay that will win you some points with the judges, or your buddies next time you pop your hood, check it out.

Works with the Grille Delete kit? I've got the delete kit in it, and my cover is trashed. And are the edges rolled, or just stamped cut? Hardware included?

OneTrekPony

  • My Mach1 has grille delet so I know it will fit, edges stamped and all hardware included with brackets that replace top core support brackets, I reused some of my own hardware sonce some screws were NOT tapered and had trouble getting started in hole, overall great fit.

will this fit a 96 GT it says 99 but they are very similar under the hood.

BulldogGT

  • Sorry. The differences are minor, but enough to keep this from working on a 96 GT.

    Nice clean look. Easy install.

I painted mine black with a high heat resistant spray paint (to go with my black SR CAI). Looks much better than cheap plastic which was falling off my 99 V6. Very easy to install. Only have 2 complaints. (1) My 99 V6 radiator reservoir does not match the photo here, so basically i have 2 less screws holding the cover down, but it feels secure so it shouldn't go anywhere. (2) the plastic prop rod holder that snaps in and holds your hood up is very cheap and too small to fit the rod in (atleast the one i got was). i had to push the rod in and the plastic piece broke, so now the rod is just there with nothing to hold it. Would of given higher rating because it looks good and fits well, but it should also be completely functional.

    Be Sure to Paint it!

This is an amazing cover. My old one was all cracked and broken and so I ordered this one. I went out and bought some high temperature matte black paint and coated it real nice. The end product was simply amazing. With it all properly installed, it looks as if it could have came like this from the factory. Highly recommend this product.

    Show Car look!

Quick install and looks great. Worth the time and effort. Really helps develop your car in to show car status. Went well with lots of other upgrades I've purchased at AM.

    Raditor Cover

It looks nice but one down fall for 2004 3.9 The Coolant placement is not in same place as the Image above. Mine was off to one side, unlike the one in the image above. I had to do some Mod to make it fit right. So if you have the v6 3.9 double check where your coolant bracket mounts are at. If they like the image above then your good to go. If not then you need to get some washers and tap and bolt to shim right side under the Radiator Cover.

    good for the price

I got this when it was on sale, so it was a good deal. it fits well enough, took a little effort to line up the holes correctly to get the screws in straight, but when everything was tightened up the cover was being pushed up in the middle by the hood latch bolt. its *barely* noticeable, so I'm still happy with the install. also, mine came with a few sharp edges so keep an eye out for that. I've read the other reviews for these products and I think AM will take them back and send you another if you're not happy with the quality of the one you get. I'm fine with mine. I installed it with a Moroso coolant reservoir and it looks great when you pop the hood.

    Nice Finishing Touch

This made for a very nice finishing touch. The install is very simple and only takes a few minutes. The only thing I would improve on would be the pieces that fit between the radiator cover and radiator. It would have been nice if they had the same finish as the radiator cover. Otherwise I am well satisfied with the product.

    Not bad for price

It looks nice and fits good but when they cut it out of the peice of metal it came from they didn't do a very good job. The edges are jagged and not very well finished. It looks great from a couple feet away but up close you can tell it is lacking in quality. I would still but it again.
