Review & Installation Video

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at Raxiom’s modified turn signal flasher for all 1996-2004 V6 and GT Mustangs. Raxiom’s turn signal modifier is the perfect complement to any sequential tail light kit. As you can see here it slows the pattern down to give a more dramatic, pronounced appearance to your turn signals, brake lights, and hazards. Now some of you may prefer the faster style sequence and that’s perfectly okay, but if you’re trying to achieve the look of the late 60s Shelbys, or the new 2010 up Mustangs, this mod is a must. Install is totally a breeze, all you’ve got to do is grab a flat head, crawl under the dashboard and locate the factory relay which is here, basically a bright yellow box you can’t miss it. Simply slide it off the bracket, unclip it, and install the new modified relay. Boom, 15 minutes tops. If you really want to see what your new sequential tail light kit can do, then you have to check out Raxiom’s turn signal modifier for your 96-2004 V6 and GT Mustangs.

Slows Flash Rate. Do you love the Sequential Tail Light kit you installed in your Mustang, but wish they sequenced slower? Well now you can slow down your turn signal flash rate with a Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher for true classic muscle car styling.

Modern Electronics. The Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher is manufactured from state of the art electronic components and is designed to be a direct replacement for your stock Electronic Turn/Hazard Flasher Relay. This module works with all brands of sequential tail light kits.

Application. This Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher (Version 1) is designed to fit the 1996 to 2004 V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and 1996-1998 & 2003-2004 SVT Cobra Mustangs with a Sequential Taillight Kit installed, intended for use with incandescent bulbs only. For Sequential Taillight Kits using LED bulbs please use part# 388878

  • REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE THE SEQUENTIALS IT WILL SLOW IT DOWN WITHOUT, THE RELAY SLOWS IT DOWN NOT THE SEQ, SO YES IT WILL WORK FOR YOU.

Will it work? I put my flashers on and only 2 out of the 3 lights light up. The third light lights up when I step on the brake. When I buy the Raxiom modified turn signal will all 3 lights light up when my turn signal is on or do I have to buy the sequential tail light kit? please let me know, thank you

Tico

  • You will have to buy the sequential kit. And buy this flasher to slow down the sequencing. This flasher will also come in handy if you decide to do led turn signals later on

"1994" mustang Will this work for a 1994 mustang GT. I have changed the 1994 mustang tail lights with 1996-98 tail lights and have the Sequential tail light kit.

Cisro

  • Absolutely! Any 1994 or 1995 that has the 1996-1998 tail light and sequential harness swap can use this modifier to slow the sequencing!

Does this benefit LED Switchbacks? I've seen several forums suggesting that if you buy this relay that you will not have to install the resistors for the LED Switchbacks. Any idea if this is true?

Caneman

  • I would install the resistors. The Raxiom turn signal flasher slows the electrical current, leaving the bulbs ON longer, allowing the bulb to get longer duration. the resistors only a certain amount of electricty for the desired results. Sossy no short cut there.

Is this an electronic flasher that can be used with LEDs? Is this flasher electronic? I currently have LED's installed with my sequential kit without a resistor because I use an electronic flasher Triton EP27. I would like to install this in its place and not have to install resistors.

Brandon89

  • Yes this is what I used for my led lights and I did not use the resistors and everything works fine

Brake light? What effect does the modifier have on the brake light sequence?

Harv

  • it does slow them slightly. I have the smoked 3rd brake light and it comes on slightly before the tail lights start their sequence. Not really noticeable but it is somewhat. Does it still work ok I would say yes

    Easy Installastion

Easy installation, easy to locate rely if you turn your blinker on and lie on your back under the steering wheel and the relay is located to the left hand side in a bright YELLOW box. When I say box its the same size as the rely itself. Then pull gently the yellow box towards you and it will slid off the bracket that holds it in place. Then just disconnect and put then the Raxiom flasher in its place. You will not be able to get the other stock rely out of the yellow box but if you slide the clip that held the yellow box over the bracket it will hold the new one in place. I have a 2003 V6 mustang and it was simple just uncomfortable position and tight place to work to remove the stock rely.

Also, if you dont know where the flasher relay is its right behind the fuse box under the steering wheel, it should be a yellow plug mounted on a metal piece, that slides right off.

this product did not slow the flash rate enough to be worth 50.00

I did not notice a considerable difference in the flash rate vs the stock flasher they need to slow it down to the speed of the newer models

slow blink almost the same seq speed

I was hoping to slow the frantic nature of the plug in kit. The Video on the site made me think these would do the trick. As far as I can tell though all it does is slow the blinker down front and rear. Blinks are longer and the delay between blinks is longer. But the speed of the sequence is about the same. It does seem less frantic, but does not match the pace of the 2012 mustangs like I was hoping.

    slower but not slow enough

OK product. Doesnt have a clip to clip back on to the bracket where the old one was so I taped it to the bracket. Also I would have liked it to be a slower flash than it turned out to be, mine is slightly faster than the one in the video. It is much better than the super fast stock relay, but it would look a lot better if it slowed it down more to the speed of the newer sequentials.

It only took 15 min. For those that don't know, i use a slotted screwdriver to pop out the old one out of the yellow box. Then put the Raxion one in the yellow box. It doesn't fit all the way in, but just enough to hold it. Sweet!!!

Raxion Flasher for Sequential Tail Lights

Functionally this flasher is terrific. It slows the flash rate down just enough to let the tail lights "step". The down-side is that you need to destroy the old flasher relay in order to mount this new one. Mind you, the process is not difficult and can be done with a pair of long nose pliers and a utility knife (or small file). The yellow housing from the old flasher relay has the mounting tangs molded into its case (the Raxiom relay doesn't) so to mount the Raxiom relay, one needs to pull the old relay out of its housing and remove the holding tabs INSIDE the yellow housing. Once removed, the entire Raxiom relay easily slips inside the yellow housing so it can be mounted. As I said it is not difficult, only a bit of a bother. Overall, well worth the purchase!

    Raxiom Modified Turn Signal Flasher

It does work but I think it is still to fast for me, needs to be alittle slower. Has for the fit, it does not fit back in old flasher spot. So it just hangs under the dash.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Sorry to hear this modifier didn't slow the sequence to your liking. However, you can secure the flasher with a zip tie, 3M tape or simply reuse the clip from the original box and it should stay in place! Please give us a call if you have any questions!

    Easy Install with Big Results

This was such a simple install with such a big result. The sequence was always so fast in my turn signals. I needed a way to slow down the flashing. This was a simple answer. I pulled out the old relay and put this in. This will make the the sequential tails much more pronounced and able to be seen. The install is easier then changing a light bulb.

Works but overpriced in my opinion

First of all let me say this flasher works good, It slows down the sequence of 2000 mustang tail lights just as it says it will but frankly I dont understand why it is priced so high.($50) I would guess the answer is because Raxion is the only one with a slightly slower signal flasher and people like me are stupid enough to pay it.

When changing the flasher it did slow it down a bit but not enough to make a difference. The second & third bulbs blinked almost at the same time. There was no sequential here just fast st-robing. NG

Great flasher module for slow rate!

I bought a M&M electronics slow rate kit and the flasher module kept hanging up. Bought this one and it works flawlessly. Just FYI, I am not to happy with my M&M kit. They say it has a lifetime warranty but wanted me to jump through hoops to get a new flasher even after I explained that I was trying to shipp my car back to the US from Germany and needed it fixed. I will always buy name brand from here on our. American Muscle has never steered me wrong and always treats me right.

    Pricey but Works

This part is a must if you want a good sequential tail light look. This part could use a price cut for what it is. Luckily I got it on sale and had a $25 gift certificate. Easy install took me less than 5 min. My sequential tail lights are now at the right speed just stinks that you have to buy this for $49 regular price. Overall I'm happy with my purchase but feel better I got it for cheaper.

    A Real Disappointment

I had installed the Raxoim sequential taillight set for my 2003 Mach 1. The lights did seem to sequence rather fast so I ordered this slower (and expensive) turn signal relay. Before installing I watched the AM installation video which told me all I needed was a flathead screwdriver and it would take 15 minutes tops. Unfortunately it took me much longer to figure out how to remove the relay as the video wasn't very explicit. But once I had it removed I quickly discovered what I was installing did not exactly match what I was removing. The existing relay was in a yellow casing yes but the case itself is an integral part of how the relay mounts to the car. The Raxiom relay will not fit into the yellow case I was removing for the car so I was forced to come up with a custom mounting solution. Not a terribly difficult but time consuming due to the location of the relay. Bottom line it took me a couple of hours to do the whole job and at the end of the day, the sequential speed wasn't very much slower. IMHO, don't waste your money or time.
